Former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah is being tipped to possibly reunite with Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid. Give us your reaction to that…

Is he good enough?

peter.lynch15h ago

Strange one this… can’t see it though, would hugely struggle for game time given the talent they’ve got… Dumfries is a machine 🤖

james.brooke2d ago

Good luck to him, as long as he's not back at Liverpool that'll do for me. Good enough to be 3/4th choice but not a starter, especially with Jacquet and Leoni lurking around

dantowen819512d ago

Don’t really understand this to be honest - he’s not kicked on that much at Leverkusen

Which former Liverpool player would you add to the current team, and why? 🤔🔙

You can pick anyone!

melfernielfc1d ago

Stevie G .....of course

james.brooke2d ago

Gerrard is the answer at the best of times, but he'd take this team specifically up several levels. To the people saying Fabinho, Mascherano was probably even better in his prime, so he'd be next on my list

kevanpower82d ago

Has to be Steven Gerrard his leadership and quality are sadly missed. Other great ones too but for me he was the best

Florian Wirtz scored and won Man of the Match during Germany’s victory over Serbia, what do Liverpool need to do to get him playing like that? 😳

He always looks a totally different player…

pereanderson4113h ago

Fans should give him more confidence Then let the coach make him free on the pitch, let him play his own football

freddie2d ago

Klopp tried out a 4-4-2, maybe we could? Him and Isak up top might not be bad. I do worry it’s just the physicality and pace of the Prem tho, that’s his issue!

david.comerford3d ago

I don't mean this in a bad way, but you know a player is struggling when you get invested in his international performances 😭

Mohamed Salah makes it to number 43 on TalkingPoints' 50 best footballers of all time! Should he be higher? Give us your thoughts! 👇

james.brooke4d ago

I think he’s lucky to make the list to be honest. He’s maybe in 50-100 but just of all the unbelievable footballers in the last 100 years. Recency bias gets him in, I don’t think anything else does

dantowen819514d ago

I need to see who is ahead of him before I judge! Then again, if Salah is 43, surely that means no Liverpool player is above him? Maybe Suarez

Who is the most underappreciated Liverpool star in the Premier League era, and why? 👀

kyle.dimond1d ago

Always loved watching Wijnaldum. But, feel like him and Firmino are pretty highly appreciated both during their time at the club and after. Matip was underappreciated. I count myself in that

freddie4d ago

0% so far for Lucas Leiva?! Put some respect on his name!

david.comerford4d ago

It's definitely not Lucas. Decent player but nowhere near the other two here. I'd maybe go for Henderson. Last few years have damaged his image within the fanbase but there's a reason a manager like Klopp picked him every week

Watched Szoboszlai up close last night for Hungary vs Northern Ireland… he was playing on the wing?! Couldn’t believe it, made absolutely zero impact out there. A huge let off for Northern Ireland because he looked good when he got on the ball, but such a waste. A warning for Iraola to not make that mistake, got to be playing centrally every week surely?

james.brooke4d ago

I don’t understand anyone who wants him wide, and there are a few! He can cross a ball and that’s about it. Never seen him beat a man one v one and although he’s physically a beast he isn’t what you’d call especially fast. Can’t see us using him there given what Iraola seems to want from his forwards

More bad injury news for Liverpool as Cody Gakpo withdraws from the Netherlands squad! Tell us how you're feeling 👇

eoin4d ago

Business as usual with liverpools injury luck

peter.lynch5d ago

Very annoyed tbh! He’s been our best player this season and we’ll definitely miss him 😭

james.brooke6d ago

Sounds like he might be out for a few weeks. Lucky there’s two more weeks of the break so he shouldn’t miss loads but still really annoying when he’s been playing so well. Testament to him that everyone’s upset he’s out, last season this news would’ve been met with a shrug

Who are the most influential players in Liverpool’s history - Dalglish, Rush, Liddell, Souness, Gerrard, Fowler, Salah - who else and why ?

mikeyfidz4d ago

Totally agree Jordan Henderson was never close to being the best player in the world or club for that matter .while still being a very good player, his leadership on and of the park second to none. His work rate and passion for Liverpool was often the inspiration the rest of team would follow in his leed. Wonderful example for young players as a roll model.

kevanpower87d ago

That's right Bobby Robson used alternate them when he managed England

kevanpower87d ago

People often forget the goalie Ray Clemence brilliant! Started at Leicester understudy to the great Gordon Banks

Defensive duo 💪 How impressed have you been with Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo? 🤔

Are they the best defensive signings since Virgil van Dijk? 🤔

dantowen819516d ago

Jacquet is a massive upgrade on Konate at this stage. Araujo might’ve gone a long way to fixing the RB problem too

freddie7d ago

Jacquet is bloody brilliant! So much better than Ibou already. And Araujo has proven me wrong. Been so good and aggressive so far without taking it too far! Best bits of defensive business we have done in a long time

peter.lynch7d ago

Jacquet is a class act, looks to be a perfect replacement for VVD soon. And brilliant from Araujo, has helped solidly that worrying right-back spot

🚨 Alexander Isak has suffered a minor injury and is returning to Liverpool early. Give us your reaction 👇

keithsmyth3767d ago

Another bloody injury, this time Cody Gapko when does our curse ever end, this stupid Nations League is to blame for this having 4 games in 11 days during international break totally horrendous, they're saying Gapkos injury looks serious as he was brought off after 17 minutes, but I still think we've got enough to beat the scumbags Manchester City

pereanderson417d ago

Guy me I'm tired. When isak was getting back to form this happened

dakir.thanveer7d ago

Guessing it's precautionary. Might not be able to play in Sweden's next game, so all parties likely decided it's better he returns. Hopefully a good thing for Liverpool

Feels lazy Liverpool hiring Julian Ward again. Edwards going felt like a good time to go in a new direction. What does everyone else think?

dakir.thanveer7d ago

This is in line with the FSG model though. Sticking with someone who knows the ins and outs and someone who they trust. Ward developed under Edwards (at this prime haha), so not a bad appointment. Hope he stays longer than he did last time though😅😂

chillout8d ago

I can see the logic - Liverpool Wanted to move quickly to replace Hughes, and Ward has a lot of history and experience at the club. His proven track record will no doubt help Iraola with contract renewals and identifying key new targets.

freddie9d ago

Yh I think it would have been nice to have a look at that Brentford guy, however Ward didn’t do a bad job before did he? Brought in like Macca and signed Salah’s new deal didn’t he?

What are your thoughts on Man City being found guilty? Should Liverpool be awarded that 2013/14 title? 🤔

We are probably the club who has been impacted the most...

jonesthejournal.13d ago

Yes. There is precedent. Juve were stripped of Serie A titles which were the awarded to Inter. Juve have never been the same since whereas Inter have enjoyed a successful period.

jonesthejournal.15d ago

Initially, I thought that stripping titles from City and awarding the trophies to the runners-up would not feel right. You aren't, as a fan, going to celebrate in the normal way. But, as in justice which arrives late, there would be some satisfaction. There is precedent; Juve were relegated and stripped of Serie A titles which were then awarded to Inter.

curwen527d ago

Whatever happens they should just leave those years blank. That way people in the future will ask why they are blank. City's cheating will always be there for all to see. No one will then forget.

Where do you stand on Florian Wirtz?

Labelled a flop by the media. Fairly? 🤔

flomaepioh6d ago

My Take is, why is it that Flo always on the spotlight? remember what Jurgen Klopp, the one making LFC believe again said, people who love and know the sport will agree that Flo performs alright! I would only take what Jurgen says as he is the one making me believe again.

keithsmyth3769d ago

About time we sold Wirtz while we can still get money for him, he is atrocious, I will personally buy the plane ticket back to Germany for him to join Bayern Munich, he's had plenty of time to redeem himself, also take Kerkez and Frimpong out the door with him in January.

dale.odonnell11d ago

Total flop. Got a free ride from the press until the start of this season.

🙂Add a comment…Open Discussion

One thing I would say in defence of Wirtz is that his pressing and work off the ball is underrated. Obviously you need more than that, but it will help him stay in the team if nothing else

freddie12d ago

He works hard and flashes, which is good. However, we are just at the point now where we need a little more! I don’t agree with Carra though, think he should still keep his place, but he needs to start stepping up now and any criticism is probably fair

After Kylian Mbappe revealed he almost joined Liverpool, which 'nearly' signing is the one you wish the Reds got done? 🤔

freddie12d ago

Fekir is most obvious, I remember Zielinski as well, although no idea if he was actually any good ahaha. Does Jude count?

james.brooke12d ago

He maybe wasn’t the best possible one, but I was gutted the Fekir deal fell through in 2018. He would have been special in that team and it was so, so close. I think Mbappe could possibly end up with us in the future. New owners might wants a big star and he clearly is impressed by the club

A good 3 points today, but Kerkez and Wirtz where awful yet again, it's time to sell Wirtz and Kerkez and Frimpong in January whenever we still can get good money for them, Definitely sign Lamine camara in January as well as a new left and right back and a new right winger please not Minteh from Brighton, sign kees smit from eindhoven, Jacquet is just class.

keithsmyth37612d ago

Araujo has been very good Callum, Munoz has shown glimpses, Jacquet has been amazing, Barcola has played well adapting to the Premier league and will get even better, so Callum there's been a few players that joined in the summer that have fitted in well at Liverpool.

keithsmyth37612d ago

I'm from Northern Ireland but living in Scotland James and I said to Callum celtic is Frimpongs level, the standard of the football James in Scotland isn't good, Kerkez and Frimpong should be sold in January, then buy Gevaro Read from Feyenoord as he will be available for a decent fee and look into signing a new left back as well, Read can attack and defend

james.brooke12d ago

I’m absolutely wirh you on Kerkez, Keith. Every decision he makes on the ball, especially in the final third, is the wrong one. He just doesn’t have the quality and it is costing us. I’m happy to give Wirtz more time but I’d review the situation next summer if he continues like this

How can Liverpool fix their midfield for the rest of the season?

freddie12d ago

I worry for Grav, not evening getting a look in right now! Need to buy in Jan, but for now gotta hope Macca can keep his good form up and carry us a little in there

markmarston20d ago

When will Nyoni get an opportunity?

peter.lynch21d ago

I start Gravenberch and Mac Allister easy… Szobo in front, am I crazy? Give Wirtz a chance to shine from the bench, might just give him the kick that he so clearly needs

View 1 more comment
🙂Add a comment…Open Discussion

I've seen enough of Wirtz, terrible against Fulham yesterday again, he has to be dropped, Tsimikas was also rubbish yesterday and Kerkez offers nothing better, about time to give young Luke Chambers a chance at left back, another terrible summer transfer window, we will need to seriously address our need for more players in the January window or it's over

keithsmyth37621d ago

I've just heard Bayern Munich are interested in Wirtz, I will personally buy him the plane ticket back to Germany, here's hoping they come in with a good offer so we can strengthen other parts of the team in January especially the signing of Lamine camara from Monaco, and Ekitike will be back in January, so Wirtz won't be missed, sell him in January please.

charlesjones22d ago

He’s god awful. Genuinely needs a loan to the championship

keithsmyth37622d ago

The amount of times yesterday whenever Isak got into good positions and Wirtz having the possession many times and not putting Isak through was unbelievable, Macca definitely has to start against Spurs and I would be up for Endo starting as a number 6, Wirtz has had plenty of time to redeem himself but sorry he's not good enough to wear the Liverpool shirt

What do you think Liverpool should do with Alexis Mac Allister's contract?

After his rocket against Atletico Madrid, should the Reds really be ignoring an extension for Mac Allister?

slinacre14d ago

He very rarely has an impact on the game, when he’s good he’s worth keeping, but how often is he that good??? I think Liverpool should sell him, while he’s worth something, and put the money to invest in a younger more consistent midfielder, that would impress more often!!!

lackofiam14d ago

The problem is, you’ve been proving for rounds now that you don’t really understand this game. In fact, what you say mostly stems from stupidity! Of course, that’s understandable, seeing as you’re British.

melfernielfc19d ago

I think Liverpool should renew his contract. She's been playing good for us & he really wants to stay. So, that shows dedication & motivation!

How will you remember Richard Hughes' time as Liverpool's sporting director?

How should Andoni Iraola now manage Liverpool's right-back situation moving forward?

Ronald Araujo was SUPERB against Ipswich

kilham.max28d ago

Absolutely until Joe Gomez is back fit. Neither are a long term solution - can only hope Bradley can keep the injuries at bay.

gowelachris29d ago

Surely Araujo should be the right back we crave. Him and Gomez can fit there perfectly.

keithsmyth37630d ago

Ndukwe apparently just has to play one game for Levante then he qualifies for his work permit, I'd bring him back in January as he looked solid pre season, Araujo has to start at the right back position, Conor will be a far better option at right back than Frimpong once he's back from injury, Leoni is back soon and also can play left back.

What did you think of Bradley Barcola's Liverpool debut against Ipswich?

The Frenchman could get his first start against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday

kilham.max28d ago

Yeah, solid. Looked some player. Clearly a masterful dribbler!

freddie30d ago

Showed some nice touches and will be nice to see him when he’s allowed to fully sttack

jordan.ellis30d ago

Some really nice moments. The most exciting bit was when he sprinted in being - guy is rapid. Only negative I saw was his starting position was quite deep which meant he was out of position for potential counters

What was Liverpool's biggest mistake of the 2026 summer transfer window?

Some exciting deals for the Reds, but there was SO much more they needed to do...

kilham.max30d ago

A DM and RW were needed, but I have little care for splashing the cash on undesirable replacements just for the sake of it. Smart decision to let things be for now.

mrdelaneymiller32d ago

Overall, I think we stayed about the same while Arsenal and Man City improved. We basically replaced what we've lost up front and in the middle of defense, but I don't see an improved squad. I hope Ekitike comes back sooner than expected because we are going to need a lot of goals based on how soft the defense is thus far.

dantowen8195132d ago

I think not signing a RB. Frimpong already looks out of his depth and it’s only been two games

Bradley Barcola is a Red! 🔴What are you expecting from his first season at Anfield?

The Frenchman has joined in a whopping £123m move from PSG

tyler.knapp86330d ago

STG if we sign Minteh and miss out on Rayan, might as well get used to being in the Europa league year after year. Not good enough, price is sky high, and hasn't shown enough to justify spending the kind of money it would take to bring him to the club. We all know Gakpo is limited, but he still offers much more than Minteh.

aaronmcfairlane31d ago

A few more attacking options but i still think its early days for ariola to get the team to gel im prepared to give him time but we definitely need to fill the gap through the middle

Keep Mamadashvili. He can replace Becker.

david.comerford34d ago

Strange one, is this guy going to be ready in 2027 if Alisson leaves? Very unlikely. So does AB do one more year, or do they think GM can take over? It's all a bit murky and I'm not filled with confidence

jamesshearman2334d ago

I'm just watching the game against forest right now, we have to get rid of Kerkez and Frimpong ASAP, they shouldn't be wearing the Liverpool shirt, we need a left back, right back, a number 6, a right winger before Tuesday or going by this performance today our season will be finished even before it starts.

david.comerford35d ago

The criticism Kerkez is getting is baffling to me. He's had two 4 or 5/10 performances, but he grew into a solid player for us last year and was one of the best LBs on the market when we signed him

keithsmyth37635d ago

It looks like Gapko is joining man city for 85 million, good business but glad to get rid of him, I just hope Hughes has aces up his sleeve for a right winger, right back, number 6, iraola said there's definitely signings coming through the door, but I hope we don't increase the bid for Sarr as there's bound to be someone else available, just have to wait

peter.lynch35d ago

Genuinely cannot believe we not only start Kerkez, but have nobody to even challenge him 🫣 we’re doomed if he continues starting, which looks very likely!

What were the biggest things you learned about Liverpool during the 2-2 draw with Newcastle?

edeose240d ago

kerkez and fripong is downgrade of ROBISON AND TAA

mojoyates241d ago

That we haven't learnt anything about the consequences about giving the opposition a free run into our 18 yd box without the slightest hint of a challenge. That second Newcastle goal was a total embarrassment. Our backs need to start doing the job they're paid to do and defend., including not being too scared to put in a well-timed tackle.

Who do you think was Liverpool's worst player as they snatched a draw with Newcastle?

mrdelaneymiller41d ago

A lot of very flat performances that were reminiscent of last season. Gravenberch's mistakes led to both goals that we gave away, so he was probably the worst. Kerkez looks like he has forgotten how to play. Isak was the human version of an orange cone out there on the field. And I know nobody wants to admit it, but Van Dijk is a serious liability.
