Who is the most underappreciated Liverpool star in the Premier League era, and why? 👀
kyle.dimond1d ago
Always loved watching Wijnaldum. But, feel like him and Firmino are pretty highly appreciated both during their time at the club and after. Matip was underappreciated. I count myself in that

It's definitely not Lucas. Decent player but nowhere near the other two here. I'd maybe go for Henderson. Last few years have damaged his image within the fanbase but there's a reason a manager like Klopp picked him every week
james.brooke4d ago
Lucas had one good season and then did his ACL, otherwise he was bang average

Is Joel Matip underappreciated? It feels like no one talks about him these days really Also, I think people forget how good Carragher was. He’d have had 80 England caps if we weren’t so stocked at CB back then

Without a doubt Diaz 💪👊, LFC Didn't Appreciate Him And What They Paid Him Reflected That!!!,We Miss Him Now He's Gone 😓😟😥
freddie4d ago
Not a bad shout actually! Miss him massively
james.brooke4d ago
Come off it, he went 20 games without a goal or something daft. Rated exactly fine and left in a good deal for everyone
james.brooke4d ago
If we’re judging it on achievements/quality against recognition I think the answer is Robbie Fowler. Gets forgotten in a lot of the debates about Premier League greats but he was absolutely unbelievable. Emile Heskey another, his partnership with Owen was something else and he had everything. Later became a figure of fun so people forgot how good he was

Can you be underrated if your nickname is ‘God’?

I guess the issue with teams like Liverpool, full of really top top players, is the number of individuals who would be legends elsewhere who are overshadowed by the greats.

Where is the love for Sami Hyppia???? Awesome defender

James Milner did 100 different roles for Liverpool and was always a 7/10
dakir.thanveer4d ago
Liverpool's struggles started when Milner was no longer around to boss the pre-season lactate tests!
freddie4d ago
Minimum! Great shout
lee.connor4d ago
Surely it’s Jordan Henderson? I get the Firmino shouts but people did rate him. Henderson was class for years and they genuinely missed him when he left. He’s still doing the business now as well.
dakir.thanveer4d ago
Darwizzzyyyy 😭 The chapters he could have written in Liverpool history books man! 😭
chillout4d ago
Looks a bit like Grealish’s older brother there.
matthew.johns4d ago
Wijnaldum stands out to me, was such a reliable force in midfield during the resurgence of Liverpool.
kilham.max4d ago
I’m not sure he’s under appreciated anymore… but Joel Matip. Absolute colossus of a centre back and one of the best free agent signings in the Premier League era.
seanfisher4d ago
Firmino is the obvious answer, but he almost became a popular choice for an “underrated player”. Robertson deserves a shout. Part of all of Liverpool’s success and went stride for stride with Trent for his assists and creative output while also being a leader and solid defensively
dakir.thanveer4d ago
Firmino may not be rated as a all-time Liverpool great but he stills get his flowers as an "underappreciated" player, if you know what I mean? Whereas, someone like Gini doesn't even get that. That is why I like those kind of players that much more!

I'm going to say Jordan Henderson. Got to be honest, if you don't rate Jordan Henderson then I can only presume you just didn't understand his role on the pitch. No frills, all substance, a brilliantly underrated Liverpool player.

Granted he didn’t stick around long enough to experience the 2010s glory, but Daniel Sturridge brought such an air of optimism to Liverpool during a time when it was hard to come by. On his day, when he was injury free, he was absolutely brilliant
chillout4d ago
Firmino is a good shout, but Danny Murphy is often the forgotten man - overshadowed by Gerrard, but played a key role in the 2001 triple trophy winning season and was a real utility player. And dare I say Henderson ?
charlesjones4d ago
Danny Murphy was a better player than Paul Scholes…….
eoin4d ago
Murphy is a great shout. Definitely goes under the radar
eoin4d ago
Joel Matip. Feel like rival fans did not rate him nearly enough, maybe some Liverpool fans too. Van Dijks most reliable partner at Anfield and one of the best on the ball centre-backs in the PL. A Young Matip would be worth 60 mil in todays market
tom.procter4d ago
He was brilliant. Never got his true flowers playing next to VVD
charlesjones4d ago
100000000% Matip was unreal
jordan.ellis4d ago
Carra. People seem to think he was some donkey who only played because he’s Scouse. Guy was immense for years. Is put down due to his punditry and the fact he played in same era as Rio and Terry.
kilham.max4d ago
This is a great shout - such an underrated centre back.
chillout4d ago
He was a bit of a donkey, but what he lacked in finesse he made up for with sheer grit and determination. I also think he had a decent football brain.
freddie4d ago
Think I’m gonna go for Henderson! Much better footballer than people give credit for and got us over the line in tough games. Lallana is also underrated for me! Such a technically gifted player. 💯
markmarston4d ago
Henderson is a good one yep
markmarston4d ago
Firmino without a doubt…. He was the glue
freddie4d ago
I absolutely think he’s in with a shout! SI SENIORRRR
