i think howe will leave first too set in his ways
jonathan.gorrie121d ago
He has been far too stubborn this season. I don't have much faith in him changing...
he is going for cheap players to coach in the hope they are stars of the future
jonathan.gorrie121d ago
Yeah, I don't hate that idea to be fair. We got so badly burned last summer! What do you think?
What are our best Keegan moments ? For me it was the 1974 Charity Shield against Leeds and the fight with Billy Bremner that got them both sent off. That was passion !!
freddie124d ago
I’m a bit young but still seen the “I’d love it if we beat them” clip! So funny 😆

Imagine how long VAR would take looking at that now! I'd go for when he left SJP in a helicopter after his final game. What a showman.
Really sad to hear the news about Kevin Keegan - a real legend! They don’t make them like that now. He was always a fighter, so keep our fingers crossed for him.
vatsal125d ago
Immortalised with his quote. It might have aged poorly, but spoke volumes about his steely mentality. A legend of the game

Sad to hear! What a legend! Best wishes to him and his family 🖤🤍

Well loved by everyone in the football community. A fantastic player, turned his side into a team remembered as the ‘entertainers’ and a pioneer of the great game. Sending love to him and his family

What is the BIGGEST change Eddie Howe needs to make ahead of next season? 🤔
I really hope he's not a one-trick pony...
markmarston126d ago
He’ll have to show that he can play in two different ways… not just pace and power. Look at Emery at Villa, he mixes it up with pressing and possession based footy
jonathan.gorrie126d ago
Find a way to get Woltemade playing well. Otherwise, it's going to be more of the same tripe we've seen this season

What do YOU make of Newcastle's decision to keep Eddie Howe? 🤔
richardbirs115d ago
I thought a change could be good,I think most managers have a shelf live.I don’t understand much of there thinking re transfers, which I presume Eddie is equally in charge?

i think his stubbiness' will get him fired
gilly19561146d ago
We need a really good season or Howe will be subject to intense criticism particularly if we have a poor start

If you had to choose - who would you rather STAYS at Newcastle United next season?
Both have been tipped to leave...
jules159d ago
I dont want Nick to leave, ive invested in the scarf and Tee shirt. It never had to come to this however. If only Eddie wasn't so stubborn and just played him as a striker, you know, like at the beginning of the season when he scored for fun!

Weird picking howe over woltemade. One won a trophy and brought us from relegation to CL. The other jogs around like a donkey, can’t jump and has a nice touch
craig1990cd160d ago
Woltemade 100%. Howes lost the plot getting worse and How he treats woltemade our record signing is shameful.!!

Pretend you're in charge - WHO are you appointing next?! 🤔
Also, feel free to name someone not pictured! (I'd love Xabi Alonso)
jules159d ago
Jose for me, he loves the Toon and could attract players
wilson_255160d ago
Problem is, how many of these would nick off to another club once they have a good season or two with us
craig1990cd160d ago
Fabregas or alonso Would be my dream picks But the more realistic options are probably a mourinho or a glasner and Iraola I think may go back to bilbao his hometown club. Tuchel/pochettino/nagelsmann if there sides don’t do well in WC would be a good shout too.

All opinions welcome but I would LOVE to know how you think Howe can turn this around....
It's the same thing every week!
jules159d ago
Eddie has been brilliant for us but he looks out of ideas and energy. I dont think he had a break last summer with no sporting director and I wonder about the long lasting impact pneumonia had on him as hes definitely not the same. I really hope he and the players can turn it around in the last 4 games as it would be awful for it to end this way.
wilson_255160d ago
Not necessarily. It’s a risk to give him another season but a risk I don’t mind taking. Could end up making him better.
craig1990cd160d ago
Thanks for the memories and the success youve brought our club. But things aren’t working now and time to part ways..

If you had to put a percentage on it....
craig1990cd160d ago
50% Eddie Howe with his shite excuses and tactics and stubbornness. And 50% the players who drop their arses when the going gets tough time for a mutual separation..
paulrae169d ago
100% blame. He's the manager. He mainly plays the same team unless injury prevents which means they must be doing as they are asked and he's got it all wrong or he's not hooking them for not doing as he asked again hus fault as manager
gary.howe169d ago

An absolute legend but there's no coming back from this...
craig1990cd160d ago
700 million spent on players just to end up as bad as a Steve Bruce or Steve McLaren team and mishandling the ones who could make a difference. He’s delivered some amazing memories and success but just ain’t working anymore and it’s time he left and the team got a refresh and new ideas.
paulrae169d ago
I wish I didn't have to say this but YES it's definitely time for him to leave our club with a big thank you I've said this for months. He's lost now the cracks are opening wider and it's more obvious there's nothing he can do about it. Not to be to personal I've no idea what he's watching anymore but there's so much you could pull him up on.
iainroundtree175d ago
It's not all the managers fault some decisions have been bad but the players need to look at themselves and have a good think how they are doing because 25 points thrown away isn't good enough they need a drastic clear out come the summer Eddie's a legend and deserves better from his players

Pretend you're in charge - who would you choose if Eddie Howe left Newcastle? 🤔
wilson_255160d ago
Only move on if you’re gonna pick someone who actually wins trophies. And not just a one of trophy - we already have that.
craig1990cd160d ago
Could see it being someone with previous prem exp. Like a glasner, iraola, or marco silva. Or even mourinho and his connection to Newcastle through sir Bobby. But any of my dream picks would be a fabregas, Alonso, faraoli of Porto or nagelsmann, pochettino, tuchel, etc.
mark.marston200d ago
Marco Silva - still backing Howe though

Let's hear it then 👇
geordiekate1184d ago
Why blame it all on Eddie ?
geordiekate1204d ago
Best manager ever has a way of making players better than ever 👏

I think I'm a D. Harsh but I just can't see any improvements - save for wins in easy games in the UCL

Would Unai Emery have won a trophy as quickly as Eddie Howe if Newcastle appointed him in 2021 instead?
Don't forget, he was PIF's first choice!
wilson_255160d ago
No.
pedrokpk60184d ago
Pif Appointed Eddie as He was 'Bargain Basement ' Compared to Emery+ A.S. Opinion
rosie.tudball278d ago
Without a doubt
Convince me otherwise: Eddie Howe gave me my greatest day as a Newcastle fan but he has taken us as far as he can
DISCLAIMER: It's not all his fault, chaos behind the scenes and PSR does not help 😡
penny2016leolucy2013217d ago
I have concern that Howe is jeopardising Woltemade playing in the World Cup. NAGELSMANN on the other hand WILL KNOW WHERE to Play him!! Howe talks about injuries, build up of fixtures and he only played NEAVE and SHAHAR on 87 min. mark! What was he thinking ?
ascotsales276d ago
The midfielders are married, they may place their wives first at times. Fatigue, also they could try zero alcohol before a game. Eddy may not understand married men.
rosie.tudball278d ago
I agree, he's done all that he could, if Newcastle want to progress then he's not the guy.

Was Eddie Howe just being honest here or are you reading something deeper into the quote?
No comments yet. Be the first.

If Eddie Howe isn't going to be Newcastle United manager, who should be?
bazzak57279d ago
PIF MUST GET THE BEST and back him with a lot of money and get the Best players in Eddie has been let down by the PIF and the players

Is Eddie Howe running out of steam at Newcastle United, or can he turn it around?
scott.mason280d ago
Would be silly to get rid. A poorly planned summer window has not helped one bit. Signing unneeded players, and then leaving it late to get priority positions.
Newcastle United's Premier League finishes under Eddie Howe. Will he claim his highest yet this season?
daniel.owen292d ago
I can't see it. To be honest, top ten with a decent UCL run is the aim
Mehrdad Ghodoussi once claimed PIF wanted Eddie Howe to be Newcastle United's Sir Alex Ferguson.
daniel.owen292d ago
No one will be Alex Ferguson in the modern game. Diego Simeone is the only thing close
Will Eddie Howe still be Newcastle United manager at the start of the 2026/27 season?
bazzak57279d ago
YES WITH the clubs help The PIF must back him
daniel.owen292d ago
I think a lot depends on the England job, and whether Tuchel stays on
