England seal a 2-1 ODI series victory against Sri Lanka with a convincing victory. Who impressed you the most in this series and why?
Total and utter domination in this decider match 🔥
jamesshearman236d ago
Will Jacks for me. Bowled and batted really well 👏
amirmir7d ago
Easy work. Crazy to think post early summer and NZ series, everything has been easy work!

Hard to look past Tom Banton. Late in the series but a great knock today and looked very impressive

The series is tied at 1-1... what do England need to do to win it from here? 👀
amirmir8d ago
I wouldn't say they need to improve too much. White ball stuff has been good this summer. Kudos to SL for the last game, but if Eng continue to play on the front foot then the wins will continue to flow.
freddie9d ago
Need to score better towards the end, the last 11 overs or so were terrible!
England are beaten by Sri Lanka to level the series... what are the key takeaways from that result? 😬
alan.mayo519d ago
I didn't mind England losing. It makes the series more interesting, unlike the T20 walkover. I still think England will win the decider, although I assume Buttler will be out injured.
leeclarke050810d ago
Can't win them all. A very good match and competitive at least.
amirmir10d ago
Well played SL. Outstanding in the death overs. A defeat like this is good for the system as long as Eng bounce back.
England win the first ODI of the series against Sri Lanka. What are the key takeaways from today's result at Chester-le-Street?
jordan.harris12d ago
Getting fed up of the gulf between the top few sides and the rest tbh

Will Jacks really now progressing, which is great to see. But another walk for England. Sri Lanka out here doing their best Pakistan impression, and just here to get whopped!

Mark Wood announces his retirement from international cricket - what was your favourite moment from his career?
markmarston13d ago
Watched this guy growing up… was always fun as a kid to see what MPH he’d clock up!
adnan.riaz13d ago
Great player! 👏A well-deserved retirement. He’ll he missed.
pranav.shahaney13d ago
It has to be his performance in the 2019 World Cup. 18 wickets, bowling the fastest ball, and lifting the trophy. Bet he would say the same too

England go top of the T20 world rankings with a clean sweep over Sri Lanka! 💪 Give us your reaction
jamesshearman2313d ago
We look unbelievable at the moment! Why can’t we have a T20 World Cup tomorrow!?
jonathan.gorrie15d ago
Shame 2028 is so far away!

England make it 14 straight wins over Sri Lanka 😎 Thoughts?!
alan.mayo5116d ago
Sri Lanka are very weak and it's no contest. Matches like this are a waste of time, both for the players and spectators. Perhaps they need a handicapping system so the much weaker team is a given number of runs start. It would need to be as much as 50 to make these matches close.
jonathan.gorrie16d ago
Great bowing display, though pretty tame from Sri Lanka
England complete a 3-0 series win and whitewash against Pakistan 🥳 What did you make of the third test?
jordan.harris22d ago
Too little too late when it comes to the fight Pakistan showed unfortunately! Sad really when you consider the grit in that middle order 20 years ago

England need 130 runs to win the third Test against Pakistan! Thoughts on day three?!
A stunning display from Razaullah at Edgbaston, too.
jordan.harris23d ago
Razaullah is surely Pakistan’s most exciting talent since Amir! Special, special player

amirmir23d ago
The problem here is this is the first time Pak have shown anything of remote with the bat, and look how average Eng looked. This is why there shouldn't be much hype about what has happened this summer because it's hard to really judge where the team is at.
♥ 1
jonathan.gorrie23d ago
Think Alastair Cook summed it up wel when he said England were out of control. A little alarming
♥ 1
Rain forces an early end to day two of the third test. England are in sight of another victory but do you think they can get it wrapped up by the end of day three? 🤔
jordan.harris24d ago
Yeah I’ll be shocked if it’s still going after tomorrow. Would love to be proven wrong and for the Pakistan lineup to show some grit!
amirmir24d ago
If England can't get the game wrapped up on day 3 then Pakistan should be awarded the series. They have been so woeful with the bat that as a top order they can't even match what Eng's lower order have done. What a f#ucking shame!
♥ 1
jackdrury24d ago
Should be over by tea really. Truly hopeless effort with that bat from Pakistan throughout this series
♥ 1
England end day one of the third test against Pakistan in total control 💪 Who was the star performer at Edgbaston and why?
amirmir25d ago
Effortless from Brook again. He's going to send the Aussie bowlers into retirement next summer!
♥ 1
jordan.harris25d ago
Razaullah! Goodness me, what a talent he looks!
♥ 1
callum_boyle25d ago
Robinson or Tongue for me. They’ve been brilliant all series but my word, Pakistan look like they want this to be over on day two 😂
♥ 1
The series is already wrapped up, but who are we looking forward to seeing in the third test against Pakistan? 🏏 Feels like a great opportunity for Gay to properly establish himself as an opener, he’s been seriously unlucky with some of his dismissals.
amirmir25d ago
This is a chance for any Eng player needing a push and a boost of confidence to help themselves in this game. This is one of the worst touring teams I have ever seen in Eng, and the worst Pak side in history. Utter shite of the highest order.
vatsal26d ago
Ollie Robinson to continue to lower his ridiculous test average and maybe Root gets closer to breaking test records because Pakistan have given up already.
jordan.harris26d ago
I am truly shocked that the players Pakistan did not select initially do not look to be any better. Stunned
♥ 2
Ollie Robinson leads England to a 194-run win - who else stood out?
A convincing 2-0 series win over Pakistan 💪
amirmir35d ago
Great game for Lawrence and Cox. Reward them by keeping them in!
♥ 1
Day three ends with play being abandoned due to the weather but England hold a 357-run lead. What was the standout moment of the day?
callum_boyle36d ago
Dan Lawrence probably my standout. Can’t see a world where Pakistan win this but hoping we can still see plenty of action, weather dependent
England take control on Day 2! How we feeling after what we've seen so far? 👀
amirmir37d ago
Don't judge too much, simply because this is the worst Pakistan I have ever seen. But you can only beat what is infront of you. Robinson having a very good summer.

Why do England have such a big discipline problem?
Brydon Carse is the latest England player to be involved in off-field issues
jackdrury40d ago
The history suggests it’s rooted in the DNA, but after the Stokes debacle you think we could maybe keep our heads down for the rest of the summer at least…
alan.mayo5140d ago
England cricket teams have always been a bit boozy, especially when on tour. The difference now is that the mainstream media are always on the lookout for any indiscretion and some members of the public like to provoke an incident.
charlesjones40d ago
Cricket culture. 2005 ashes team were lauded for getting boozy. 20 years later the spotlight is more intense and cameras are everywhere. I think it’s always been this way.
Rishabh Pant has passed Adam Gilchrist and is now third for sixes in Test history — is he the best Test batter we have ever seen? 🏏
SUB - Gilchrist needed a 96-Test career for his 100. Pant is on 102 from 52 matches...
eoin42d ago
Insane numbers, he could get to 200 if he stays injury free

Job done for Joe Root and England as they cruise to victory against Pakistan to go 1-0 up in the series convincingly 🙌What did you make of Root's captaincy in the first test?
callum_boyle44d ago
Very happy with that. Drama free (for now) and got the best out of his bowling attack, who were the real winners. Tongue and Robinson brilliant in the first innings and good to see Gus and Jofra chip in too. Solid stuff with the bat too. Much-needed win but got to stay consistent
What should England's bowling order look like in their new era? 🤔
jamesshearman2344d ago
Think they’ve got it right this test: Robinson, Archer, Tongue & Gus. Just a shame Sam Cook misses out because he really deserves a chance
jonathan.gorrie46d ago
Can’t believe Baz and Stokes overlooked Robinson so often. Has to be the main man if he’s fit

Manchester Super Giants win The Hundred for the first time! What are your thoughts on this final? 🏆
alan.mayo5149d ago
Trent Rockets were 10-15 runs short.
jamesshearman2349d ago
Pleased to say I bet on them before the tournament 🤩 Their bowling lineup is ridiculous!
freddie49d ago
3 runs needed from 3 balls! What a finish
Almost time for The Hundred final! 🔥 Who’s taking the victory? Get your prediction in 👇
jamesshearman2349d ago
Have picked MSG from the start so hopefully them
harveyleonard9951d ago
Sam Billings is the most underrated captain in cricket. Trent Rockets get it done despite MSG having the better team
jonathan.gorrie51d ago
I like MSG, they’re a very fun team. Think TR will win though
How are you feeling about the England squad to play Pakistan? 🤔
jamesshearman2358d ago
As an Essex fan, I’m buzzing to see Sam Cook involved. He’s been the best bowler in county cricket for about 5 years and deserves another chance. Happy for Jordan Cox as well - this is a golden opportunity with no Jacob Bethell.
♥ 1
lrandall121059d ago
It’s just like a constant cycle of the same players hoping next time will be different. Unless you play for a set 5 or 6 counties you don’t get a chance
♥ 1
amirmir59d ago
Pope has had his chances and is no longer good enough to be Newcastle's number one!
Phil Salt has his idea to improve The Hundred, but what one change would you make?
alan.mayo5159d ago
Make the pitches more challenging and the boundaries longer. The best matches are the low scoring ones where there is a real contest between bat and ball. Too many matches are just a sixfest with ridiculously short boundaries.
♥ 1
lrandall121059d ago
The Hundred would be good if young, exciting players actually got a chance. Nowadays it’s full of overseas, leaving exciting talent to just and watch from the bench for the whole tournament
harveyleonard9960d ago
Any idea that isn’t “abolish the Hundred” is a bad idea
Ben Stokes has ruled out playing for England again but would love to be a coach. How would you feel about him taking the top job in the future?
callum_boyle60d ago
Until he proves himself as a coach, he’ll be waiting a very long time. The likes of Trott will get a chance far quicker
amirmir61d ago
I still think he will play again. Yes, he is ruling it out now. But he is still raw about everything that happened. I can see him changing his mind next year when the dust has settled, but I do feel Rob Key needs to be out of the picture for that to happen.
leeclarke050861d ago
He will be back at some point. He won't be able to say no in the future.
How likely is it that Ben Stokes plays in next summer's Ashes? 👀
charlesjones61d ago
He will be back 100%
johnverrall1161d ago
I’m convinced he’ll be back. He likes the spotlight too much
eoin61d ago
Yeah I think he's finished now
Stephen Fleming has been confirmed as the new England Test coach and has made his first big call by handing the captaincy back to Joe Root. Give us your immediate thoughts
jamesshearman2363d ago
I really like the Fleming appointment. Proper coach and also knows Baz well. I don’t like Root as captain unfortunately
Stephen Fleming is reportedly the favourite to replace Brendon McCullum as England's red ball coach. Give us your reaction...
amirmir67d ago
He was a fantastic captain for NZ. One of the best. But once again, he has never coached red ball stuff. I wanted Jonathan Trott, given how well he did with Afghanistan. But if Fleming brings that Strauss-like character he had as a player into this Eng team, then we are in good hands!
Do you agree with Mark Butcher? If so, who would be your choice of captain and why?
amirmir68d ago
Bang on the money. Root now has to chase Sachin's record with the pressure of captaincy. No fan would think bad of Root if he had just said no.
jamesshearman2368d ago
He’s spot on. Root is awesome but he’s a rubbish captain and doesn’t enjoy it. That’s a recipe for disaster
Why is The Hundred struggling to draw people in? 👀
amirmir70d ago
Because it's a bag of bollocks. The quicker this fails, the better for English cricket. Trying to make money any which way, all while harming the T20 blast and the domestic 50 over comp. Not forgetting that they squash the test games in, rather than properly spreading it across the summer.

Be interesting to see if the viewership has gone up on the telly as a result? 🤔otherwise not encouraging
Joe Root is set to become England's Test captain again! Give us your first reaction 👇
pranav.shahaney72d ago
Having the captaincy gives him the added pressure he just does not need. The ECB need to think long term and give it to someone they see in the side for the next 7-10 years.
amirmir72d ago
This current regime loves killing off our legends, i.e Anderson and Stokes. If this goes wrong for Root, like it did last time, it will finish his career. Very bad call!
♥ 1
vatsal72d ago
Should have gone all-in on Brook. This is a step back, and if his batting suffers (again), England have shot themselves in the foot twice
The Ashes 2027 fixtures are here 🏏 What's your first takeaway from this line-up?
amirmir73d ago
Ben Stokes and England play one of the greatest Ashes games at Headingley........ECB: 'Yeah, lets not play there again."
dancoombs73d ago
What is a Utilita Bowl 😂
rebecca.braybrook74d ago
It’s a real shame to see no games happening in the North! I’m guessing they’re trying to cover this with the warm up game happening at Old Trafford? Although that feels like a bit of a cop out 🤷♀️
Can London MI retain their title in 2026?
jamesshearman2374d ago
If last night is anything to go by then absolutely. My money is on Manchester though
rebecca.braybrook75d ago
I think it’s hard to look past London MI for the victory again this year! They have arguably the strongest team once again and they demonstrated just how solid the line-up was last night! Impressive bowling from them, followed up by some great batting by Curran and Pooran!
♥ 1
After his success as England's ODI captain, does Harry Brook have what it takes to be the new Test match leader? If not, who should be the new captain? ©️
callum_boyle76d ago
I don’t think Brook is quite ready to lead them out in Test match cricket. I’d honestly give it to Root, if he would be up for it, until the end of the Ashes and then let Brook take over. Gives the new coach an experienced head at the helm before England really move into the future
amirmir76d ago
I would give it to Brook. He still needs to mature and take better responsbility, but perhaps being Test skipper and a new coach will kick that into him!?
Is Joe Root the best test and ODI batsman in the world right now? If not, who is?
lee.connor76d ago
Yes, combined he definitely is. Steve Smith is probably his equal in test cricket when on it, likewise Kohli can swing a game on his own in ODI’s. But Root overall for me.
callum_boyle76d ago
Right now, yes. So consistent and the fact England rely so heavily on him only backs this point up more
amirmir76d ago
He is defo up there. If Jaiswal and Pant played more ODI stuff, they would be up there. Gill is in the convo, but Root is better at Test level. The other one that springs to mind is Smith. But I still prefer Roooooooooooot.
♥ 1
What's your favourite memory from Sir Garfield Sobers' cricket career? 🏏
lee.connor79d ago
One of my Dad’s favourite ever players. Know little of him myself but you only need to watch Stick to Cricket to realise how highly thought of he was.
shamanth.jayaram79d ago
Never got to watch him but my parents have always been adamant that he is the greatest cricketer of all time. Very sad news
♥ 1
vatsal79d ago
Way too young to have watched him but he's always been someone who's the "favourite player of my favourite player" Respect from fans can often be emotional, but that level of respect from peers is legendary. Six sixes is iconic, but his legacy is right alongside WG Grace, Don Bradman etc.
How do the ECB restore domestic T20 cricket to its former glory? 🤔
jamesshearman2380d ago
The ECB just gets everything wrong. It’s absolutely pathetic. Scrap the hundred. Invest in the Blast. Have the knockout games on different days. Show them on TV. Invite schools & cricket clubs. Above all else, sack Rob Key.
amirmir80d ago
Get rid of the Hundred. But they won't. T20 blast was so much fun. Finals day itself was such a great concept. Now the ECB have shat all over it. Well done 👏👏
callum_boyle81d ago
So, so sad. The ECB are letting the sport die before our very eyes. Attendances dropping, quality diminishing and seemingly no attempt to rescue the sport
England sack McCullum! Give us your immediate reaction!
jamesshearman2384d ago
This was the perfect scenario. He gets on well with Brook and should stay as white ball coach. The red ball team have fallen apart under him and he should’ve gone after the Ashes.
vatsal84d ago
Changed the culture and picked up a team that felt sorry for themselves, but ultimately went top far down the other extreme which caused his undoing. The timing is also iffy after whitewashing India
alan.mayo5184d ago
WTF! We have just whitewashed the Indians in the T20. What ridiculous timing! If they had done it after the recent Test series against NZ I could have understood it. I'm not impressed with England's top brass. They are the ones who need sacking.
