There’s no alternative, that’s the issue. Brook is not test captain material, he’s too erratic and hot headed, despite being a great player. Root will be fine for now.

Not really sure about this. Shows a complete lack of faith in Brook and for such an England great his record as captain was feeble when he packed it up last time.

Probably deserves a second chance because of how good a player he is, but don’t think it’s the wisest choice. Captaincy could also affect his batting and that’s definitely something England can’t afford in tests

I completely agree! I think the ECB are stuck between a bit of a rock and a hard place with this decision! I think it’s wise to go with experience after our performance at the last Ashes!

Correct decision. Brook isn’t ready imo, so seemed the only other option. We desperately need some leaders to emerge though

Would rather have taken a punt on someone else. Root will struggle as captain, probably score less runs and want to retire next year

I don’t think he has learned much since his first stint. And do the results under him first time around justify his return ? You have to think he has only been appointed there is no one else.
