Which drive do people think was better - Verstappen in Sao Paulo a couple of years ago or Antonelli on Sunday? I'd say Max, rain adds an element of skill

smiddypix25d ago

For me it's kimi. George is also in the super fast Mercedes and was front row. Kimi had no right to catch him let alone pass him. Let's not forget his age and his time in the seat. Max is a wet weather specialist and the rain have him a massive hand in that race. Both Ferrari DNF'd so i think kimi deserves more kudos here.

gtrnights26d ago

Comparing an experienced champion driver in the rain vs. A fresh 20 year old with more than 25 overtakes in one race is a bit ridiculous. Max didn't have Kimi talent at 19.

tyler.rowlinson27d ago

Kimi’s was class but Max gets it for me. To do what he did would have been impressive in the dry, but in the rain and torrential conditions, it’s one of the all-time great drives

Here are our top five drivers at the Italian Grand Prix! What would you change?

huwjones3427d ago

Is Antonelli so immature to realise that George Russell was done over by the team at last VSC

david.comerford27d ago

Struggle to see why Russell deserves a seven after losing to Antonelli in those circumstances. I'd have Piastri, Gasly, Lindblad and Tsunoda above him to be honest.

tyler.rowlinson27d ago

I would give some credit to the Alpine drivers. Yes, Gasly dropped back to P7 and Colapinto’s mistake maybe cost him more points but they did very well with the car they had and mixed it with the top runners. Good weekend for Alpine

Was Kimi Antonelli's Monza win one of the best drives ever, or did the batteries make overtaking too easy?

matth27d ago

One of 'his' best drives ever. I couldn't say it was all down to the batteries. There are others out there who were also doing a great job of defending with their batteries. A really good drive. His going into the gravel could have ended differently.

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

An excellent drive, and I don't want to take anything away from the young Italian, but the fact of the matter is that the batteries made this kind of comeback possible in quick time. The amount of yoyo racing between Antonelli, Russell, and Max, while entertaining, was just absurd.

seanfisher28d ago

Both apply. His car was clearly far superior to many on the grid. But he still went and beat his own teammate despite having to stop. An incredible drive.

Where do you stand on the first-corner battle between the two Ferraris at Monza?

yogesh0324d ago

Leclerc was at fault. Ferrari should have clear rules of engagement for their drivers.

Charles knew it was his team mate - he had a responsibility to ensure that there was enough room... He's a good driver & comes across as a fair one but that was not the action of a team player

Hamilton went for a gap that simply wasn't wide enough for 2 cars

Watch as Mercedes celebrates another 1-2 finish, as Toto Wolff and Marco Antonelli share an emotional hug! Is there a cuter radio message than Jack Wolff cheering on Antonelli?

deathshood128d ago

Congratulations, but I do feel for George yet again. I appreciate that kimi has some skills but George done the work at monza ans have his team mate steal the win. Was not fun to watch

A deflated Hamilton in the media pen after Monza. He thinks his chances of an 8th title are gone, but do you?

i_far_i28d ago

I don't, but it's not gonna be easy, especially if his team and teammate don't WAKE UP from the nightmare they and the tifosi have been having lately start helping Lewis avoid their insecurity, uncertainty and lack of effective leadership. In other words, they need to GET WITH THE PROGRAM but it seems they don't een have a Program...smh

deathshood128d ago

Lewis will bounce back. The car wasn't that good and you could see the struggle with reduced power. Charles shenanigans at the first corners was completely un warranted. Sebastian Vetel was vocal on leclere's in ability to play the team game. And it's no different with Lewis

Ferrari seemed to have stated to get their act together on strategy this season, not needing hold a meeting every time they needed to decide when to change tactics mid race. But now we seem to be seeing them slipping back into their old ways.

A Mercedes one-two keeps them ahead in the Constructors' Standings! Can Ferrari turn this around or is it too late?

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

The only title race more clear cut than the drivers’ championship 😂. Mercedes are inches from the finish line

What does Kimi Antonelli's incredible Italian Grand Prix comeback mean for the title race?

bluetrustmore24d ago

He looks 15 years old still but drives like a polished veteran

skshaggis25d ago

Kimi has shown that he can outldrive not only everyone on the circuit, but George Russell, his team mate, as well. Madring is going to be interesting, as it's a new circuit for every driver and every car, and as such, is an unknown. The sims may be an indication, but real time for each car and driver is going to be the telling. Nonetheless watch out for Kim

Antonelli is the real deal. Great drive and great for his championship prospects. I've been waiting for someone on the grid to grab me like Hamilton did when he first arrived. Since last year I am officially an Antonelli fan.

Antonelli speaks to David Coulthard after an exciting race in Monza, will this go down in history as one of his most legendary drives?

kyle.archer28d ago

Kimi delivered a champion’s drive to secure an historic victory at Monza. The Italian GP may have been an embarrassing battery-fest, you simply must laud the job that Antonelli produced to carve through the field and take advantage of Mercedes’ strategy.

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

This will be the race that defines Antonelli’s eventual title win, and I’m sure he’d have it no other way! 🔥

Kimi Antonelli comes from P19 to win his home race at Monza! How much did you enjoy that race?

roger.kuchel27d ago

Imagine the day when Kimi wins in Monza driving a Ferrari!!! Surely it's inevitable that he gets a call at the end of his Mercedes contract 👍🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️

1066boh77727d ago

another call from the MB bosses and the fix was in..the natural flow of the race would have dictated a win by George.

bilbopup28d ago

Kimi was amazing. Ferrari again let Lewis down and for that reason 6/10 should be lower but can't take it away from Kimi's drive ❤️

ANTONELLI TAKES A WIN AT HOME! An impressive victory after starting P19!

kyle.archer28d ago

George Russell will rue Mercedes’ pit strategy, but his bigger concern will be the psychological blow of surely now accepting (if he hadn’t already) that the title is Kimi Antonelli’s to lose.

tyler.rowlinson28d ago

Simply unbelievable from Kimi. His pace is scary and I don’t see anyway back for his rivals now

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

I think this might have just sealed the championship for Kimi! What a drive!

Watch as Antonelli finds the gravel in the race for the win in Monza 🫣

kyle.archer28d ago

After the saga of the track surface breaking up in Monaco, F1 chiefs must have feared (at least a little) that it was set to decide the winner at Monza

ANTONELLI'S OFF AT THE FIRST CHICANE! A messy scuffle between the pair sends the Italian into the gravel and opens the gap back up to 1.3s 😮

tyler.rowlinson28d ago

Don’t know how Kimi can blame George for that. Granted George runs wide but Kimi hits the marbles and goes off himself. This could get ugly…

Antonelli and Verstappen pit! They've rejoined in P6 and P7, respectively! Interestingly, Antonelli's out on a fresh set of mediums!

david.comerford28d ago

Not immediately sure why Antonelli has got the stop there 🤔

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

George Russell must have walked under a ladder in March - what is this luck?

🙂Add a comment…Open Discussion

Things are starting to get tense on Antonelli's radio 👀 Russell's been given the hurry up, but Antonelli's now being told if he can't, they will swap

kyle.archer28d ago

Mercedes may have feared Max Verstappen’s presence at the time, but it was not the time to try and use team orders

david.comerford28d ago

Awkward one for Mercedes. Not sure if either driver is fast enough to break away given how powerful the battery is here!

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

Antonelli’s frustration is understandable given the stakes, but given what George did for him last week and the team orders, it does come across as youthful petulance

Watch the moment Antonelli took the lead of the Italian Grand Prix after starting P19! But it's not over yet, the two are STILL battling 🫣

aaditya.krishnamurthy28d ago

This is honestly one of the funniest races I’ve seen in quite some time. Do we expect the lead change record to be broken today?

david.comerford28d ago

Loved Antonelli's move into turn four, but it's getting a bit too yo-yo now

🙂Add a comment…Open Discussion

ANTONELLI TAKES THE LEAD! He's absolutely flying out there! Are we going to see an Italian win Monza?

david.comerford28d ago

That is psychologically DEVASTATING for Russell. 18 places in 18 laps!

🙂Add a comment…Open Discussion

Russell reclaims the lead into the second chichane but the battle with Verstappen has now brought Antonelli into play, and the Italian takes second in the same spot!

tyler.rowlinson28d ago

Yeah this kid is an absolute joke! Sets up an unreal battle between Kimi and George, loving this!

david.comerford28d ago

Russell v Antonelli would be cinema here. Great race at the moment

A brief yellow flag there as Colapinto goes wide at the first Lesmo, sending him tumbling down to P15

david.comerford28d ago

Catastrophic error that. Blown what could have been the best result of his career
