Coventry City fans: if you could change one result in your club's history, what would it be and why?
george.patten1d ago
Very recent. But I’d say Arsenal on the opening day of the season. Go and win that and I reckon you’re mid table now. Wasn’t a bad result but it’s always going to deflate a newly promoted side to lose 3-0 on the opening day
♥ 1
matthew.johns2d ago
Obviously none of the three recent relegations were ideal, but it is hard to put it down to one result in a whole season. Instead, I would have to go with our FA Cup semi-final loss to Man United, we were absolutely robbed by VAR! I’m not usually one to get annoyed by our results, but I was bitter about it for days!
Yann Gboho scored just five minutes into his Ivory Coast debut against Somalia in the AFCON Qualifiers, but should Frank Lampard give him a chance in the Premier League? Where would you rank Gboho in the pecking order of attacking midfielders for the Sky Blues?
george.patten4d ago
I think it’s worth a try to stick anyone who performed well in the international break into the team. You need confident players who have won matches!
♥ 1

As Coventry City look set for a huge battle to stay in the Premier League this season, which three teams do you think they are they most likely to finish above?
The Sky Blues are 18th after five games.
george.patten4d ago
Spurs, Fulham, and the cheating mancs
dantowen819514d ago
It’s hard to find too many candidates at this early stage, Fulham and Palace have shown signs of progress I just struggle to see Coventry finishing above three other sides at the moment. Don’t think there’s any real whipping boys
♥ 1
matthew.johns5d ago
Although they have both made impressive starts, I do think Hull and Ipswich will be down there come the end of the season. I also think Fulham have looked very poor so far. You can’t even rule out Man City now, with a pending punishment meaning they could also be thrown into the picture!

Who should be Coventry City's main striker when Haji Wright returns from injury?
Could Frank Lampard change formation to include two forward players?
george.patten4d ago
Might as well have two up top! Need goals, doesn’t matter who scores them
dantowen819516d ago
Tough one - can Wright hold up the ball and get Coventry up the pitch on transition?
matthew.johns6d ago
I think Lampard should stick with one striker, and I’m not sure it will be Wright. Despite being such a key figure in our promotion, it does feel a bit like the club is moving away from Wright and with less than a year on his contract I’m not sure he will be with us for much longer. I think Awoniyi will be our main pick with Simms and Cherif as back ups.
If Manchester City were to receive a 50-point deduction for their 114 charges, would you back Coventry City to finish ahead of them? If yes, how many points ahead do you think Coventry would be?
chillout8d ago
I think it might be tight.
♥ 1
george.patten9d ago
I think City look like they could get 80 points this year? Would have them down at 30. Not sure I see Cov getting that unfortunately….
♥ 1

Which current Coventry City player do you think is most likely to represent the England national team in the future?
The last Coventry City player to represent England was Dion Dublin in 1998.
freddie10d ago
Rushworth probably, will have to fight with Trafford tho which won’t be easy
♥ 1
matthew.johns10d ago
My initial feeling is Carl Rushworth. I think there’s less competition for the goalkeeper spot and could see him being picked as a number three. While only being a loanee at the moment, Stephen Mfuni has also been selected for the under-21’s this international break and so could be a future England senior player too!
♥ 1

Has the international break come at exactly the wrong time for Coventry City?
Or do you expect the Sky Blues to kick on after beating Nottingham Forest?
freddie10d ago
I don’t think so. Plenty of time to re charge and have a think, then some OK fixtures to return to!
♥ 1
jamesshearman2310d ago
Newcastle Spurs Fulham is a nice run after the int break and they have more time to prepare for them now. Cov probably have fewer international players than those teams too so they’ll be fresher
♥ 1
leeclarke050811d ago
You'd have loved a game straight after the Forest win but still probably a good chance to take stock.
♥ 1

How would you rate Coventry City's start to the Premier League season heading into the international break?
The Sky Blues are 18th after five games.
jamesshearman2314d ago
5/10. 3 points from 5 games when you’ve played Arsenal & City away is not awful. The defeat to Hull was a real shame though.
♥ 1
markmarston14d ago
Much needed win but probably still below expectations… need a fast start after the break imo
♥ 1
matthew.johns14d ago
The win over Forest has made me feel a lot more positively. Still a lot for us to improve, but at least we are off the mark. The most disappointing thing from these first five matches was that defeat to Hull, we should have got something from that game. Would probably give us a 5/10 so far.
Coventry City’s last win against their upcoming opponents Nottingham Forest came at home in the Championship in 2021, when they won 2-1. Viktor Gyokeres scored the Sky Blues’ first goal on their comeback to victory, but would you consider him to be Coventry’s best ever striker or would you pick someone else over the Swede?
george.patten16d ago
Got to be Dion Dublin no? Gyokeres wasn’t there for that long and only did it in the Champ
♥ 1

If you were Frank Lampard, what would you do with Victor Torp for Coventry City's upcoming Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest?
Torp scored a fantastic free kick in the Sky Blues' Carabao Cup defeat to Aston Villa.
george.patten17d ago
Honestly worth trying anyone up top to try and score you a goal!
♥ 1
matthew.johns18d ago
I would personally give him a chance to start, most likely over Onyeka as Lampard is unlikely to drop captain Grimes. Goals are what we need more than anything right now, and Torp is by far our best free kick taker and was our best player against Villa.
Coventry exit the cup after a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa... thoughts?
Can't buy a win right now...
dale.odonnell18d ago
Hardly a surprise or Coventry’s priority this season.
♥ 1
matthew.johns18d ago
Not too bothered to be out of the Carabao Cup, but never nice to lose to Villa and still some huge concerns. Great goal from Torp and we had chances to go 2-1 up, but we still look so fragile in defence.
♥ 1
Coventry City have 0 points after their first four games in the Premier League and are yet to score a goal. These are the three lowest point totals in PL history, but how many points do you think the Sky Blues will have come the end of the season? 1. Derby (07/08) - 11 points 2. Southampton (24/25) - 12 points 3. Sunderland (05/06) - 15 points
dale.odonnell18d ago
Promotion hopes splipping away for Lampard.
george.patten20d ago
I think you’ll get around 30-35 - Will need a big stroke of luck to stay up with that though…
♥ 1
kyle.dimond20d ago
They’ll get more than those I think but still not enough to stay up. Hull and Ipswich doing well only makes it look worse
♥ 1

Coventry City fans, what was your biggest disappointment from the 5-0 home defeat against Brighton?
jamesshearman2319d ago
When it rains it pours. The red card was very frustrating and more missed chances. Cov easily could’ve scored in the first half and then it’s a completely different game
george.patten20d ago
The red was a big disappointment. Just killed the game for you. Just way too many mistakes being made to challenge at this level
eoin21d ago
The red was just completely unnecessary. Will be hard for Lampard to trust Awoniyi so soon
♥ 1

Coventry lose 5-0 at home to Brighton... How do you rank our chances of staying up now?
pranav.shahaney21d ago
It’s looking harder with each passing game. As good a job as Lampard has done, he has always struggled in the Premier League. Need someone better
peter.lynch21d ago
I give you zero percent chance 🥶
lee.connor21d ago
They will go down. Said it from day one. They are far too open to compete at this level and get punished.
Coventry City vs Brighton & Hove Albion - Predict the score before today's kick-off!
Will the Sky Blues finally get off the mark?
matthew.johns22d ago
Even though we lost last week, our performance against Man City has given me a bit more encouragement! Therefore I think we might get a point today with a 1-1 draw.

What would be a successful outcome for Coventry City's upcoming home match against Brighton?
Coventry have not played Brighton since their FA Cup tie in 2018, which The Seagulls won 3-1.
matthew.johns24d ago
I would personally take a point right now, we just need to get off the mark! But to do that we need to start scoring, which has looked a real struggle so far…
♥ 1
Frank Lampard got Coventry City over the line to get into the Premier League last season, but is he more important in the Sky Blues history than Mark Robins? Robins spent seven years at Coventry, helping them gain two promotions, as well as reaching the FA Cup semi-finals in 2024…
chillout25d ago
Lamps could be history by Christmas if Coventry don’t start to get points. I think Frank will always be regarded highly by Coventry fans, but I don’t think he will be there that long.
♥ 1
george.patten25d ago
I might be biased but I think Robins means way more to Cov than Lampard. A milimetre from an FA Cup final and put them on the path to the prem. Frank deserves credit for finishing the job, but needs to keep them up to get on terms with Robins imo
♥ 1
peter.lynch25d ago
Longevity takes it for Robins for me, but maybe Frank will get there one day!
♥ 2

Which player will score Coventry City's first goal in the Premier League this season?
The Sky Blues are goalless after three games...
george.patten27d ago
It’s got to be Awoniyi, think he’s the biggest threat. But saying that, if you want to stay up you’ll need your defence to pitch in with a few set piece goals as well
♥ 1
jamesshearman2327d ago
Might be worth bringing on Frank at this rate 🤦♂️
♥ 1
daviescallum4228d ago
Former Toffee Ellis Simms I hope. Would love to see him kick on and become a solid PL striker
♥ 1

Where will Coventry City pick up their first points in their return to the Premier League?
The Sky Blues are bottom of the table after three defeats...
george.patten27d ago
I do think Brighton are beatable. Not been convinced by them even though they did hammer Villa.
♥ 1
daviescallum4228d ago
Don’t worry lads, you’ve got Everton soon. That’s a guaranteed 1 or 3!
♥ 1
kilham.max28d ago
They will pick up points againstNewcastle, Spurs and Fulhamb
♥ 1

Coventry City remain without any points after a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Give us your reaction to the result!
jonathan.gorrie29d ago
Just don’t see it getting any easier. At least until they play Newcastle 😂
dantowen8195129d ago
If you ignore Hull - which I know is easier said than done - Coventry have gone to City and Arsenal and held their own!
aryansurajc29d ago
I still respect them for this result
Coventry City fans, predict the score for your away trip to Manchester City?
Will the Sky Blues score their first Premier League goal in 25 years at the Etihad?
george.patten30d ago
I’m saying 4-0, Cov need to hold on till half time to have a chance of getting anything imo
charlesjones30d ago
5-0 city sadly for Cov fans. Feels like one of those games
matthew.johns30d ago
As much as I would love to see us pull off an upset, I think Man City will have far too much quality. Predicting 4-1 to City, with Awoniyi to get our first Premier League goal.
Coventry City have announced the surprise signing of attacking midfielder Yann Gboho. Give us your reaction!
george.patten30d ago
Could be a good addition, feel like you’ve missed a real statement signing that gets fans properly excited though
matthew.johns30d ago
I was not expecting this! I must admit that I don’t know much about Gboho, but it seems that he was gearing up for a move to the MLS before talks broke down. It will be interesting to see how much game time he gets for us.

What, if anything, can Coventry City do to hurt Man City?
It will be the first time Coventry have played against Man City since 2002.
george.patten30d ago
Think you’ve just got to be physical and hope you can ride your luck at times. You never know! With that being said, I reckon you lose 4-0
peter.lynch30d ago
Put 6 men on Haaland… and hope for the best with the others 😭
♥ 1
matthew.johns30d ago
I personally think it’s more about damage limitation rather than realistically getting anything out of the game. However, we have to go into the game like we have a chance and the best way to do that against Man City is probably to try and frustrate them for as long as possible.

What changes should Frank Lampard make for Coventry City's away trip to Manchester City?
This is how the Sky Blues started for their 1-0 defeat to Hull City last week.
jackdrury31d ago
I think setup similar to how they did against Arsenal. Frustrate them for as long as possible, but you can get at City more than you can Arsenal
♥ 1
george.patten31d ago
I don’t think much needs to change, can’t help but feel that’s a very Championship-looking side though 👀
matthew.johns31d ago
To me the obvious choice would be bringing in Sakamoto to start over Tchaouna, who I wasn’t that impressed with last week. Hoping Onyeka is also fit for selection at least from the bench.

Coventry City fans, what do you think your best signing was in the Summer Transfer Window just gone?
The Sky Blues broke their transfer record three times this summer!
jamesshearman2331d ago
I think Caleb Yirenkyi looks a decent player and will move on for big money one day
♥ 1
matthew.johns31d ago
Has to be Carl Rushworth for me! He was our best player last season and we really had to battle with Brighton to get the deal over the line. He hasn’t had the best start to Premier League life, but we know how good he can be and I have every faith that he will save us on multiple occasions once again this season!
♥ 1
Defeat at home to Hull... what did you make of that performance? 😩
jamesshearman2334d ago
Played fairly well but didn’t have enough cutting edge. The next home game feels like a must-win already
markmarston35d ago
These are the games you have to be winning but also need to be measured in our assessment… window shuts in two days so once the squad is all settled, you’d hope these kinds of results don’t happen too often. Have to pick up results vs the newly promoted sides home and away
eoin35d ago
Not been massively impressed by coventry , but first Game dhouldnt be looked at too closely. This loss to hull though is a huge blow
Villa at home - should be an exciting Midlands derby. Villa don’t seem to start a season well these days, and will also have European obligations the week before. Great opportunity for the Sky Blues.
jonathan.gorrie38d ago
Can’t imagine this will be either team’s priority but if Cov are going to beat Villa this season, it’s surely in this game
kierandoody39d ago
With Villa holding a car boot sale at Villa Park it looks like Cov will only have to beat their academy side.
♥ 2
dantowen8195139d ago
Coventry cannot really be facing Villa at a better time. Got to take full advantage of this while they can
Ethan Pinnock has joined Coventry! Thoughts on this transfer? 👀
freddie39d ago
Good signing that! Plenty of experience and now means CB’s can be rotated. Squad is starting to come together now 👀 (don’t drop Thomas for GW2 tho Lamps as he’s on my FPL bench boost 🤣)
Coventry are THROUGH to the third round after beating Plymouth! Thoughts on that performance?
chillout40d ago
Important win, I think. Newbie Taiwo Awoniyi looked sharp and good that Frank now has decent bench strength. All eyes on the Premier League now.
Coventry are playing Plymouth in the Second Round of the Caraboa Cup tonight. The spoils have been shared in their last 5 encounters - two wins each and a draw. After the Arsenal result on Friday, it’s important that Coventry get a result here. Momentum is key.
No comments yet. Be the first.
What did you expect ? Arsenal are Prem champions and most people’s favourites to retain the title. There will be a lot easier matches. Yes, it’s a sobering reality check, but Amenda, Thomas and Simms all held their own. 3 points against Hull, and it will look a whole lot better.
josh.barker44d ago
Coventry milesss off it, gonna be a long season unless some more signings are made asap
charlesjones44d ago
It’s one of those where you can just write it off. Won’t be many who get points away at Arsenal this season
brogan44d ago
Sometimes there is a surprise on opening day tho. Granted not the same Arsenal side but I remember 5 years ago when Brentford turned them over on opening night. Coventry looked no where near that level
Coventry's Premier League return ends in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal 😔 What did you think of the performance?!
dantowen8195143d ago
Despite the result, there was some good pieces of defending. Amenda looked good on and off the ball. Iike the energy of the full-backs I think Awoniyi should be starting over Simms, need his presence if they’re gonna struggle to keep possession
will.butcher43d ago
No surprises but will still be a worry. This was Arsenal in second gear
kyle.dimond44d ago
Hard to take much from that as there was always a good chance it would go that way. Would have been good to see some encouraging signs but not the end of the world they weren’t there
Coventry’s best ever result on the opening day of a Premier League season ? On 14th August, 1993, Coventry defeated Arsenal in a stunning 3-0 victory at Highbury. Micky Quinn scored a second half hat-trick. Coventry finished the season in 11th place. Could history repeat itself tonight ?
caleb.sage44d ago
They never stood a chance. Seeing Super Frank getting some criticism online, bit surprising. Don’t know what people were expecting him to do against Arsenal 🤷♂️
jamesshearman2344d ago
If Cov were at home I’d give them a chance but can’t see it at all away unfortunately
dancoombs44d ago
Go on! Get a shock result tonight and anything is possible for the rest of the season
♥ 1
Coventry’s last stint in the Prem saw them do the double over Everton and beat City, Spurs, Derby, Southampton, Sunderland and Leicester.
jamesshearman2344d ago
Super Frank likes beating Spurs too. Hopefully history repeats itself
Sidiki Cherif has joined Coventry! What else do we need to do before the window shuts? 🤔
caleb.sage46d ago
It’s time!

♥ 1
jamesshearman2346d ago
I can’t believe they’ve not got a Chelsea loan yet. Acheampong or Mudryk would make a lot of sense
♥ 1
george.patten46d ago
Just as much quality as they can find. Think the fans will push them over the line at times this year, but it’s going to be tough
♥ 1
It’s been a long wait. 25 years, and fans will be expending a lot of nervous energy as they look forward to hosting Arsenal on Friday. The signing of Awoniyi and the return of Hamer all add to the positive mood. Neutrals will be in their camp this season.
No comments yet. Be the first.
Our Premier League predictions are here! What do you make of where we have Coventry?
lrandall121047d ago
I think Cov will surprise a lot of people and be towards mid table
charlesjones47d ago
No idea how Coventry are ranked above Palace here. Best chance of staying up is finishing above Hull, Ipswich and Fulham
eoin47d ago
Its though cause It feels like a year again where promoted sides Will struggle to get a foothold in the league. If any of them are tovdo It though, i fancy coventry. Think Lampard Will surprise a lot of people with his coaching chops
