Amidst the red flags, some amazing performances at the Catalan Grand Prix. But which rider stood out the most to you?
bob.ridgway1957138d ago
Digi. He could have walked away from the crash and sat the day out But he chose to ride and then win
esoterique777139d ago
Fermin for sure. In all the chaos he was still super strong and smooth. Obviously very mentally strong as well as fast.
david.comerford139d ago
Acosta's performance should not be forgotten just because of what happened at the end

Marco Bezzecchi extends his lead over Jorge Martin the championship race! But is Fabio Di Giannantonio also a contender?
esoterique777138d ago
The big question as a long term supporter of Fermin way back in Moto 2 days when he was knocked out by Vietti Love to see them together with Uchio. Thanks mummy Nadia daddy uchio
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
Absolutely, Diggia is really proving why KTM landed a solid driver with his performance this year!
david.comerford140d ago
He is, especially if Ducati back him. Been very consistent this year

Are MotoGP riders the bravest athletes on the planet?
danronp.ds139d ago
I think moto gp riders are super brave to do what they do, but I would say the Isle Of Mann riders might be the bravest.

Definitely...always exposed ➕️ sometimes weather conditions are to much for humans like strong wind, heavy rain, very high humidity...but they are always there...every time they are on a track there is a possibility of crash...adore this sport but extra dangerous
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
I can't think of another sport that puts the athletes at risk as much as MotoGP, outside of maybe MMA, but even then that's debatable.
Was it right to restart the Catalan GP after two big accidents?
andymedin55139d ago
Maybe restart as SX does. Long line, no passing until the crossing start/finish line. Reduces congestion. Maybe more will come to the Safety Commission meetings..?
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
Sometimes, the show doesn't need to go on. The race should have been called off.
david.comerford140d ago
A decision made for the wrong reasons

Should tyre pressure penalties be scrapped from MotoGP?
Mir has been handed a 16-second penalty and drops off the podium
esoterique777138d ago
Simon that was cruel. JoAN fort so hard.
danronp.ds139d ago
There has to be a minimum tire pressure for safety, but the rules should be relaxed a bit. Tire pressure will vary depending on clean or dirty air the tires are exposed to, and other factors. The penalties are too strict in my opinion.
mike.goetsch1140d ago
Definitely. Dumbest rule in the history of Moto GP

Should Ai Ogura have received a harsher penalty for taking out Pedro Acosta?
Ogura was handed a three-second penalty for the collision at the final corner on the last lap
david.comerford140d ago
I think it was fair. Not a terrible move but just overly optimistic
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
A three-second penalty definitely seems a little soft, but I think Ogura got away with it because it didn't seem to impact the result of the race outside of taking Acosta out. Not defending it, but that's my guess.
Did Massimo Rivola have every right to be annoyed with Davide Brivio after Jorge Martin's crash?
The Aprilia rider was taken out by Fernandez after the third restart
s.scottu5123d ago
No 'right' at all. It is called a "race" for a reason and anyone who has, knows what happened between Jorge and Raul WILL happen again. At that 'moment', nothing matters other than 'the pass'...especially so if it's your teammate or in this event, the (supposedly better) factory team.
djangoreinhardt1965140d ago
WTF did Brivio have to with it?.. That was petulant and uncalled for!

david.comerford140d ago
Brivio is not the man to point the finger at here

Fabio Di Giannantonio wins a chaotic Catalan Grand Prix! But what was the biggest surprise?
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
Honestly, the whole race was surprising! Hope everyone is okay, especially Marquez and Zarco, their crashes were brutal!

Is Barcelona too dangerous for MotoGP?
The Catalan Grand Prix sees ANOTHER red flag as Bagnaia crashes with Marini and Zarco
walshrussell670140d ago
I think its more of supply issue, Michelin didnt have the right tyres for the cold weather and track conditions. It's not the first time they have got ot wrong
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
I think they should definitely take a look at the track, two red flags back-to-back isn't a good look!
How can Acosta be on the grid for the restart when his bike broke and was the cause of the restart??
david.comerford140d ago
Good question, think they tend to measure from the start of the lap for uniformity
aaditya.krishnamurthy140d ago
I get your point, but Acosta seemed to be reacting to Marquez's move more, so I wouldn't put all the blame on him.

Very fine margins decided the Catalan Sprint as Alex Marquez won - Who was your rider of the Race?
kyle.archer141d ago
Francesco Bagnaia went under the radar with the focus on Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta's battle for the Sprint victory, but the Ducati rider's recovery from his awful qualifying was promising

Alex Marquez beats Pedro Acosta to win the Sprint! Is the Gresini rider now your favourite for the Catalan Grand Prix?
kyle.archer141d ago
I backed Alex Marquez to win the Catalan Grand Prix ahead of the weekend, rather than the Sprint, and the pace he showed in the corners and under acceleration to win the Sprint only improves his odds to win on Sunday.
Will Jorge Martin regret pushing too hard to recover in the Catalan Sprint come the end of the title fight? 😬
ahambly23141d ago
Four crashes before we've even got to Sunday is tough... I can't imagine it'll be doing wonders for his confidence.
kyle.archer141d ago
Jorge Martin will not be too annoyed by not scoring big points in the Catalan Sprint given that Marco Bezzecchi only took one point for P9. But he will be annoyed that he does not enter the Catalan GP on Sunday as the championship leader due to his fourth crash of the weekend (so far).
Does Fabio Di Giannantonio deserve a penalty for taking Brad Binder out of the Catalan Sprint? 🇪🇸
ahambly23141d ago
Despite it being a classic turn one racing incident, I can't help but feel like it does deserve a penalty. Two riders' races were ruined, while Diggia went on to grab a podium!
kyle.archer141d ago
At the start of a race with a heavy braking zone for Turn 1, incidents like this are sometimes an unfortunate inevitability. And, today, Brad Binder was the first victim, and Joan Mir the very unfortunate second.

Is Marco Bezzecchi enduring a blip in form or is Jorge Martin now asserting his dominance at Aprilia?
johanesbp141d ago
either blip in form or the last two tracks aren't really suited to his style. Next is Mugello, where we know he'll be really good. We can confirm then if it's just a blip or he's losing his form.
ahambly23141d ago
I think this is more on Martin getting up to speed with things, rather than Bezzecchi struggling. The next few rounds will give us a clearer picture of where Martin is on the Aprilia over a single lap.
kyle.archer142d ago
Marco Bezzecchi will point to his crash during Q2 for Jorge Martin out-qualifying him for the first time as Aprilia teammates. But Martin has also had a lot of crashes that have disrupted his momentum in Barcelona. So, Bezzecchi needs to hit back in the races to prove that Martin's rise is because of a blip by the Italian.

Can Aprilia still win the 2026 Catalan Grand Prix after Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi's disappointing qualifying results?
ahambly23141d ago
If both riders are able to get through the opening lap one melee unscathed, they should have a good chance at carving their way through the field in the Grand Prix.
kyle.archer142d ago
Jorge Martin showed how strong his race starts can be with how he won the Le Mans Sprint, so a victory at the Catalan GP could still be on the cards with the long run down to Turn 1.

Pedro Acosta scores his second pole position in MotoGP at the Catalan Grand Prix. Is this his best chance of securing a maiden victory?
ahambly23141d ago
He can definitely get his KTM hooked up over a single lap, but race pace is what hinders him. Saying that, he kept up with the frontrunners well in the Sprint.
kyle.archer142d ago
The fact that the KTM RC16 has been performing for multiple riders at the Catalan GP certainly suggests that Pedro Acosta could have a chance to finally win a Grand Prix this weekend.

Pedro Acosta leads a very tight practice session at the Catalan Grand Prix... Who will be joining the top 10 in Q2? ⏱️
kyle.archer142d ago
There will be a lot of big names in Q1 on Saturday, but Enea Bastianini will be the favourite to advance to Q2 with Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia fighting Ai Ogura for the other progression spot.

Do MotoGP and all of the riders take concussions seriously enough? 🤕
Jorge Martin is expected to continue competing in the Catalan Grand Prix...
kyle.archer142d ago
MotoGP could be firmer when riders are found to have sustained a concussion. But riders will often try to ensure that they are not declared unfit, even when they are.

Alex Marquez tops FP1 at the Catalan Grand Prix! Will he replicate another one of his wins from 2025 this weekend in Barcelona?
kyle.archer143d ago
Alex Marquez will feel pleased with his start, but Jorge Martin had the edge over the field in FP1 before his crash.
How important is it for Jorge Martin to stamp out these silly crashes?
The Aprilia ace looked shaken up after his FP1 crash at the Catalan Grand Prix
kyle.archer143d ago
Crashes like Jorge Martin's can happen at any moment, but how he followed his bike into the barrier could have caused the most alarm
Which rider could the weather forecast for the 2026 Catalan Grand Prix disadvantage the most?
aaditya.krishnamurthy143d ago
The rain will be a big disadvantage for Marco Bezzecchi for sure. Given the pressure he's under to fend off Jorge Martin, who will have an advantage in his home country, Bezzecchi could struggle to overcome his teammate and the weather!
kyle.archer144d ago
Francesco Bagnaia will be desperate to avoid slipping up and having to go through Q1 if rain affects practice at the Catalan Grand Prix. But Pramac pair Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlioglu, plus KTM's Brad Binder, will hope the conditions work in their favour on Friday.
Are Ducati making a mistake not replacing Marc Marquez for the Catalan Grand Prix?
aaditya.krishnamurthy143d ago
Absolutely! I understand that Pirro is their only option, but Ducati aren't in a position where they can leave any points on the table. While he isn't a favourite, Pirro does have a non-zero chance of getting things done.
kyle.archer144d ago
Given the quick turnaround since the French Grand Prix, Ducati would have only been able to call up Michele Pirro (with Nicolo Bulega unavailable with World Superbikes in Czechia). So, it is not a mistake for Ducati not to replace Marc Marquez - but it will add fuel to Liberty Media's desires for permanent replacement riders.
What is your favourite Catalan Grand Prix moment?
tyler.rowlinson145d ago
Aleix Espargaro thinking the race was over a lap early in 2022, costing him a home podium. One of the most bizarre and unfortunate things I’ve ever seen in MotoGP
kyle.archer145d ago
Francesco Bagnaia avoiding a serious injury after his alarming crash in the 2023 Catalan Grand Prix, when Brad Binder ran over his leg, was a great moment for the advancement of safety measures in MotoGP
Who is going to win the Catalan Grand Prix?
david.comerford145d ago
A win is coming for Ai Ogura soon
♥ 1
kyle.archer145d ago
Jorge Martin has performed well around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the past. But the Montmelo venue is one of Alex Marquez's best tracks and after his win at Jerez, a second victory on home soil in 2026 could await.

A back-to-back second place finish in the last two races, I expect Bez to come out on fire at Barcelona
