Talk West Ham

Yes he is vey much the forgotten man! Had a great partnership with Brooking - and signed for just £5000, I think.

ray.baxterct19515d ago

Devonshire definitely has to be there, why is he a forgotten man?

moharris19586d ago

C. Average at very best

freddie12d ago

Nuno has been pretty rubbish tho to be fair?

reubengane512d ago

That's a good point Dan, I think that both of those Clubs have serious caught to the way they would structure themselves this season but I don't see anybody really being capable of that sort of work at West Ham, we are so backward in our ways!

reubengane513d ago

I don't think think that our present squad is good enough for the Premier League, don't want us ' doing a Spurs ' spending £400million on player's who haven't fitted in.

jonathan.gorrie13d ago

Great response but worrying it got to that point! What stood out for you?

will.butcher14d ago

Said it from the start - Nuno will get this side promoted. Any gaffer could. Easiest job in English football right now

peter.lynch14d ago

Nuno is and always was the man for the hammers to get back up imo. That team is too good not to get back up, so he’s definitely under huge pressure

jonathan.gorrie14d ago

Difficult to see how it lasts long term, given there has long been a sense he's not a great fit for the club. Still, for now, there's no point thinking too far ahead, there's not that luxury. Just get promoted and worry about the rest later (easier said than done of course)

moharris19586d ago

Then look at the Fulham shambles. Nuno isn't consistent and why he keeps on with Kilman is beyond me

hseward9d ago

I've changed my mind about Nuno, that was when we thrashed Wrexham 6-0 Wrexham were rated a very good championship side that hadn't lost a match in the capital until we thrashed them, Nuno surprised most of us that he can get West Ham playing good attacking football without all this sideways and back passing football, andthe passion is evident keep Nuno

reubengane513d ago

If we go up with Nuno will go straight back down if he's still in charge.

moharris19586d ago

Mavs is struggling playing alongside Kilman. He's the problem. Why he keeps getting in the side is beyond me.

dantowen8195118d ago

I’d worry a bit for Golambeckis in this atmosphere, surely they’d target him at every chance - then again Mavropanos was back to his old error-riddled self last night…

chillout18d ago

A run out for the kids - not sure it’s much else.

kwaylen18d ago

I’m still not convinced on Nuno I’m not sure that he knows what a decent player is and his coaching and team selections baffle me sometimes?

pwithey121d ago

Look, don’t get to carried away with this “New attacking Nuno”..more than once after we were 3up he could be seen on the touch line telling players to slow the game down and not go forward so much, I think it was the players that smelt blood and took it upon themselves to keep going forward. Let’s see if this attacking trend keeps up.

peter.lynch21d ago

I rest my case 😉 patience is a virtue! Stick with the process and trust in Nuno

alan.mayo5129d ago

Drop Scarles. He has been given a decent opportunity but he is clearly limited going forward and is accident prone defensively. We are short of good full backs and shouldn’t have sold both Diuof and Wan-Bissaka.

pwithey130d ago

My starting side.. Herman.. Veltman..Golumbekis..Mav..Boiro Alvarez..Engels Bowen..Mukasa..Soloman Piroe.

debham585025d ago

WHU, with the quality they have, will certainly qualify for promotion at seasons end, despite, not because of, the manager. Tactically poor and no man management skills.

jordan.harris31d ago

I’m still confident that he will get West Ham up this year tbf. Too many with good PL records or promotion experience there

jordan.harris31d ago

A lot of teams have recovered from extremely slow starts to battle for promotion. Just need signs of progress because I think Nuno’s biggest challenge will be establishing this squad back at the highest level next year

ewingdave526d ago

Nuno being a former goalkeeper is naturally too defensive in his planning & thinking, all of this tippy tappy playing backwards will come to grief. The only way to win a game is by playing attacking football in the opposition's half, as you'll never win a game going backwards

reubengane534d ago

Ajala and Golambeckis are extremely good, red hot.

ray.baxterct195135d ago

I believe in talented youngsters, they must not be sold to other clubs, if they have been nurtured by the academy. The tendency is they get snapped up and immediately go out on loan and get lost in the wilderness (except perhaps Man City). They must be given hope to progress, Tuesday was proof enough for me.

pwithey134d ago

Rico Henry / Harry Amass and Faess all mentioned this morning, don’t mess about get them all in ASAP

trevor_30936d ago

Good riddance mercenary

kevinsaward37d ago

certainly not worth £40m as brentford will find out, hewill want bigger team and throw a tantrum again

trevor_30936d ago

They were superb

p.marshall239d ago

Have I missed something - what did Nuno find out last night about his best first team ? Was it a missed opportunity to put the new players together to allow some bonding and understanding? A win is a win - but who is he putting out on Sat??

stargator536339d ago

Could this be a new strategy for the West Ham? Time will tell on Saturday perhaps. I opine a good part of the first half was the usual fare - sloppy passing defensive play and etc. But there came that magic moment when something appeared to click. Could it be the combination of the young and old? Or was Southampton an easy win? Dunno? Up the ‘ammers!

grahamwatts40d ago

Just proves that the sofa managers club are put in their place by Nuno tonight. Its a long hard season but green shoots are showing already!

dantowen8195140d ago

Fair play Nuno. You can’t knock his willingness to give the kids a chance! Ajala and Lamadrid both had some very good moments in pre-season, so happy to see them here Feels like a big chance for Golambeckis too with Mavropanos out of sorts

dancoombs40d ago

I don’t think this game matters much Win in the league, that’s important

caleb.sage40d ago

Promotion this season is all that matters.

james.brooke40d ago

Another loss would mean the pressure is really on, but I don’t think it would necessarily mean anything else. Losing away at Southampton can happen and the cup just isn’t a priority.

chillout41d ago

You need a good conductor for the orchestra. Our conductor is tone deaf!

pwithey139d ago

5 new signings…200mill in the bank..unfortunately all the best defenders have now gone to other clubs because we wouldn’t stump up more than 17 or 18 million for any of them. Our best two young defenders last night were Golumbekis and Myers… but will they be given a chance ? Preferably alongside Mavropanos and Veltman.

jonathan.gorrie40d ago

Hard to trust them, isn't it! Anyone you'd like to sign right away?

cumberworth5741d ago

Agree until you mentioned Pablo, I’d rather play my mum

pwithey142d ago

That’s all well and but you still have three of the main culprits for letting in goals playing… Mavrapanic..can’t defend Killman.. and KWP..and I know what I would change the W to… Piroe up front…and Taty on a plane back to where he came from..

pwithey139d ago

Starting line up for Saturday Herman. Veltman Golumbekis Mav Myers. Orford Engels Bowen Makassa Soloman Peroe. If all fit obvs.

dantowen8195140d ago

We’ve got Mukasa who can slot into the number ten role, I reckon Engels could do with Kante and Orford in behind. I really don’t like how much space Bowen is getting on the right either. Wonder if Nuno could play him a bit more centrally

finbar121236d ago

Nuno out hes got idea what's he doing get Eddie howe in b4 its to late !! Coyi

peter.tester40d ago

Definitely kilman and scares are clearly not good enough an need replacement, definitely need another strong midfielder, don't know why we let Potts go as he would be ideal for us in this league, Taty was nowhere near good enough today. First half to slow and to much side passing, no direct force into the box. Only last 20 minutes did we begin to look danger

bilichammer12342d ago

Would start to help playing a keeper that has arms and height not one that is supposed to be good at throwing out the ball . Both goals would have been like many let in by short arms Herman been saved by areola. And we need to sell Herman and

pwithey142d ago

What do you think on the look of the team now ?

dantowen8195143d ago

I know it’s very early in the season but that really did feel like a proper ‘end of days’ performance

chillout43d ago

dancoombs42d ago

Agree with this - Villa can afford him. Getting rid of his wages is something at least

pwithey144d ago

We need more than one I’m afraid, specially as we have let Wan go, never even got a fee for him (yet)…also looks like Douf will be on his way as well.

♥ 1

pwithey144d ago

You need defenders to stop goals going in…at the moment we only realistically have two decent ones…and we keep hearing is attacking players being mentioned, don’t get me wrong we need a couple more of those as well, and as I’ve said before we all know when we go 1up..Nuno wants to sit back and invite the opposition forward, that’s a recipe for disaster
