My opinion-red card.Studs up raked down back of players calf and then stand on players ankle.Intentional no dangerous yes.But thats not the debate. Were looking at FIFAs decision to overturn an atomatic ban at what appears to be a head of states request throwing out a core principle and rule regarding the exclusion of poltical influence.disgraceful.Sack him

🤔 Should Pochettino stay as USA manager or come back to club football? And why?
He has been offered a contract extension to take him to the next World Cup…
parrjohn24987d ago
Get yourself to Everton, will attract players as known worldwide for playing on front foot and giving young players a real chance. FTRS
febced187d ago
USA played on emotions. They were outplayed by Belgium, so it will not get better for them. Poch should leave.
markmarston88d ago
Job done as far as I’m concerned… as good as it’ll get for the USA I reckon. At least for now. Get back to the PL and wait for a job like Everton if Moyes leaves next summer
Felt like this was beginning to be a really big moment for football in the US and then Trump had to go and spoil it. Will set then back massively again. A shame really. Does anyone think they’ll ever be a proper force in world football?
seanfisher88d ago
I think they will be a proper force, but it’s probably 10–15 years away. This World Cup will make the next generation pay attention. More people playing football in the US means they will eventually get it.
jonny90d ago
Feel for the supporters, they’d started to get it, seen some of the pre-match stuff they had going on looked impressive! But ruined by someone who “understands sport really well” yet had never heard of a red card before Balogun’s… As if the Americans needed another reason to hate him

‘Soccer’ fans thought they were starting a dynasty. Hope they enjoy their Super Bowl and take the hydration breaks away with them

The co-hosts crash OUT of the World Cup
What will Donald Trump have to say to get them out of this one? 👀
knightinwhitesatin90d ago
He'll probably say they were cheated just like he did when he was beaten by Biden it's pity they can't move the rest of the games & the final to Canada or Mexico and they should never have given it to the USA while Trump was President because he would aways make it about him & how this was the most watched in history although more teams took part
jonny90d ago
Overturn that one Don 🤣Would have loved to see his face when Belgium made it 4-1
USA you're going out and the rest of the world are all laughing at you. HAHAHA. UP YOUR JACKSIES AMERICA. Let's wait for Trumpty dumpty to cry foul or say that the Belgians cheated. USA GO AWAY. USA GO AWAY. BOOHOO YOU BIG BABIES. oh well at least you still have Taylor swift and trampus Kelse. Bye bye american pies. I'm so bloody happy you've lost.
jonny90d ago
🤣🤣USA against a half decent team

jamesshearman2390d ago
They didn’t show up did they! Must admit it was amusing to see them unravel 😂
LETS JUST NOT HAVE THIS WORLD CUP AND EVERYONE CELEBRATE TRUMP WINNING IT ALL ON HIS OWN. LETS GIVE HIM ANOTHER SHINY BALBLE TO KEEP HIM HAPPY. INFACT LETS ALL CALL IT THE DONALD TRUMP CUP OF FOOTBALL. AND INFANTINO CAN BE HIS LUTTLE BI*CH AT THE SAME TIME. CMON BELGIUM.

He nearly broke that players leg with that challenge. No one is saying it was intentional but where is the players safety? Konsa got a red when his leg rolled over the top of the ball and hit the Mexican. No intention to hurt but a red is a red unless you are that S.O. president. What does he even know about football.
james.brooke90d ago
I thought it was a red as well, not sure it’s even that debatable

It's high time African countries stand's together unite itself support one another to make sure we bring this world cup silverware to the continent
sammykalimbo14891d ago
Yes Morocco is doing really well but we need to put sources together as African to get behind them so we embrace this Europe countries
seanfisher91d ago
Nine teams in the knockout rounds this tournament, and I think Morocco have a real chance of going far 👏

sammykalimbo14891d ago
As an African I really want reformed world cup wer we will have equal representation from match official, refree , VAR we must feature in all this position
Now let me think? How many red cards, to allow 'stars', with major sponsorship deals, have been rescinded prior to and now during this tournament. FIFA always have and always will m. Hydration Break
james.brooke91d ago
Where would we all be without a little scandal to be fair. Football is entertainment after all and FIFA are nothing if not entertaining
badger.prodder91d ago
Hydration Break over. ake up the rules as they go along. Just think goal line technology.

FIFA have suspended Folarin Balogun's red card ban for one year, meaning he will be available for USA vs Belgium! 😯 What's your reaction to the decision?
nezicemir89d ago
Red card is red card in football not soccer. Everybody must follow rules accept Balogun. That was disgusting.
dbrowne65690d ago
I think that the USA just lie and cheat at everything. If they can't win honestly then they blame everyone else. I hate America and I am not the only one. CHEATS all the way. U.S.A. go away. And its FOOTBALL not soccer. Thicko.....
dbrowne65690d ago
Typical american lying, cheating bullshit again. Trumps already said that it is a fix if the USA lose. That's why most of the planet hate America and Americans. As for that corrupt twat infantino, well i say give an honest man or woman the job. I really hope Belgium kick their cheating arses. Konsa got a red card because his leg got caught on top of the ball.

The USA have reached the round of 16 but will be without talisman Folarin Balogun after his red card. Who steps up in his absence? 🤷♂️
Balogun is the USA's top scorer with three goals ⚽⚽⚽
jamesshearman2394d ago
It’s time for the LeBron James of soccer to show what he’s made of!
freddie95d ago
Think they will genuinely beat Belgium! Even without Balogun. Captain America to the rescue!

peter.lynch95d ago
Think they have some firepower elsewhere to help them challenge, but he’s obviously a massive miss
Landon Donovan is USA’s top scorer at World Cups on 5, Balogun is on 2… could he break it this tournament!? 👀
freddie95d ago
Yh don’t think so either, unless he does a madness if they get past Belgium! 😅
dancoombs95d ago
I don’t think so now

The US go through as group winners and are joined by Australia despite losing right at the end. How far is Mauricio Pochettino's side capable of going?
jamesshearman23100d ago
I think that was a much-needed reality check. USA are good and home advantage is helpful but I was seeing some say they could win it. Quarter-finals would be a great achievement
getjeffrey101d ago
Put a fork in them.
vatsal101d ago
I hope they go out as soon as possible.

Christian Pulisic is back for the USA but has to settle for a place on the bench. Would you rest him or give him some minutes before the KO stages? 🤔
He missed the win against Australia due to a calf problem
callum_boyle101d ago
Keep him on the bench. Maybe the last 15-20 mins but better to rest him

Ibrahimovic believes the US can win the World Cup, but how far do you think they will go?
The US has never advanced farther than the quarterfinals at a modern World Cup; doing so in 2002
sherlock_b106d ago
Noooo… it’s England all the way esp as it’s the 60 year anniversary from their last win. The US will be out in the quarter finals….here’s hoping 🥹
jonny106d ago
Are we sure Zlatan wasn’t joking 🤣They’re looked really good but opposition have been horrendous
dancoombs106d ago
If the draw is kind - semi final is a possible before their Euro 96 style penalty heartbreak. Long way to go though

USA MAKE IT TWO WINS FROM TWO AND QUALIFY FOR THE KNOCKOUTS! Just how impressed have you been with them?
It's the first time the USMNT have won back-to-back World Cup games!
dantowen81951107d ago
They didn’t have Pulisic and still tore Australia apart in the opening 45. Great to see Balogun bringing his outstanding Monaco form into the tournament. A midfield of McKennie, Adams and Tilman will outrun most in the competition
george.patten107d ago
Think they’re in for a reality check the second they play a half decent side tbh
♥ 2
walkercharlie828107d ago
They've got a real bounce to them in front of the home crowd. It's great for the tournament that they're a good side!

Intrigued to see how the US look against Turkey, who have a lot more quality than Paraguay/Aus
chillout107d ago

jonny107d ago
Where was Turkey’s quality vs this sorry Aussie side?
david.comerford107d ago
If they've got the ref timewasting for them, it won't matter either way like
Cameron Burgess continuing the great tradition of Fulham/ex-Fulham players scoring for America at the World Cup
dantowen81951107d ago
Haha what is it with Fulham having such a strong USA connection? I remember Brian McBride from all the way back in the day
Pulisic OUT for this game! Probs better to be on the safe side tho as he’s that important. I’m WELL up for this game tho, should be a good watch 🙏🏻
peter.lynch107d ago
They’ve made a great decision leaving him out of this one entirely… have made a fantastic start and have the quality to get over the line without him
♥ 1
dancoombs107d ago
The crowd noise in this game is crazy. Credit to the USA fans
♥ 1

Should the USA take a chance and start Christian Pulisic against Australia?
Captain Tyler Adams has said he will be ready in time…
antonymmartin84110d ago
Nope. Can play the last 20 if needed
dantowen81951110d ago
Don’t think so. Already got 3 points under the belt so it’s worth resting Pulisic for this one
jonny111d ago
Keep him for the tougher games, they’ve enough to beat Australia without him

How will hosting the World Cup change football in the US?
lrandall1210114d ago
It may boost football within the US itself, but outside of that it’s not gonna change how popular the MLS is to foreigners
jamesshearman23122d ago
I think they’d have to win it to make a big difference. It’s just not one of their top 3 sports and probably never will be
amirmir123d ago
It will change next to nothing. Maybe the MLS will get a bit of a boost, but that's it. The US have hosted the WC before. Football is way down the pecking order in that country, it has always been like that and it won't change.
♥ 2

Which US hero would you have in the current squad? 🤔
dantowen81951122d ago
Friedel. Just feels like the US have a solid spine EXCEPT between the sticks
jamesshearman23122d ago
Dempsey would strengthen this team quite a lot
amirmir123d ago
Dempsey all day long. Perhaps their greatest. But it could be argued they need Brad Friedel a lot more in this squad...

Which US city does the side have the biggest home advantage at the World Cup?
jamesshearman23122d ago
Kansas City! It’s a soccer city and the atmosphere at Chiefs games is always great

How far can the USA realistically go in this tournament? 🏆
callum_boyle124d ago
They should be aiming for last 16 at the very least
peter.lynch124d ago
I think they really should be making it far with the talent they have, but might not be able to deal with the pressure as hosts. Out of the groups easy, we’ll see after that
amirmir124d ago
They can get to Q/F. Although out of all the co-hosts, they are under most pressure.

Who will be the main man for Mauricio Pochettino?
How many goals will they score?
jamesshearman23122d ago
We all know Pulisic is overrated by US fans but he is a great player on his day. Shame we only saw it for a few months at Chelsea
peter.lynch124d ago
Pulisic is the man right now, looking good!
amirmir124d ago
Pulisic. He gets everyone going. Plus, Pulisic gets the best out of Balogun, not the other way around.
