Good to see Spain win.Spain played football,Argentina play to cheat to get a win
dantowen8195177d ago
I will be very, very interested to see if there’s any handshakes between the two sets of players during the medal ceremony
Do you agree with @nielbarker3? Was that the worst World Cup final in recent times?
james.brooke77d ago
People forget that World Cup finals are usually like this. I actually thought it wasn’t too bad, Spain played well and were good to watch. 2010 and 2014 we’re both far worse

Hard to argue with that. It was dire and when it wasn’t dire Argentina were trying to KO Spain
As @gaelhj points out, that was the last time we'll see Messi play at the World Cup.
james.brooke77d ago
Hope so. Argentina would be better playing Martinez who is much more mobile, and maybe the rest of their players would start playing like actual footballers and not members of a cult as well. He’s had his time, now time to go 👋
TalkingPoints user @harveyleonard99 was not impressed with Argentina.

Not sure I have ever seen a more unanimous show of support for one country winning a World Cup. Spain absolutely deserved to win and Argentina should be ashamed! 🇪🇸
alan.mayo5177d ago
A missed opportunity by England. I think we could have beaten Spain if we played the right way but with our present manager we would have had tuch all chance! 😊

Most one-sided Final of my life. Was a hard watch too, but the overall WC was really fun. Gotta return to waiting 4 years though
121' - HUGE CHANCE MISSED FROM SIMEONE!
The ball bobbled directly his path from a low Messi corner kick into the centre of the penalty area. Simeone's first time strike is wild though, and hammers well over the bar.
dantowen8195177d ago
Are the team of adults going to beat the plastic hardmen? 🇪🇸
116' - It's the 116th minute, and Messi has finally had a shot on goal.
It was powerful one, and it hit Merino square in the face.
brook01077d ago
He looks a bit jelly legs still after that, aside from how inflamed his face is 😬
113' - DISALLOWED GOAL FROM FERRAN!
The forward stormed through the heart of the Argentina defence to latch onto a Yamal pass, but he's adjudged to have been offside. It looked tight...
dantowen8195177d ago
You wouldn’t think he’s known for being fairly wasteful 🤣
111' - @jamie.brown is rightfully giving Ferran some props!

One of those goals you don’t realise how good it is until you see it back - amazing awareness from Nico and Torres did so well not to slash that over the bar
106' - GOALLLLL!!!!! SPAIN TAKE THE LEAD
A well deserved goal! Ferran Torres volleys home a knock down header from Williams.

I wanna see Enzo cry at FT

@david.comerford with a great point on VAR!

Half-time in extra time thoughts? What did you make of the disallowed goal decision?
david.comerford77d ago
That's the issue with VAR in a way. Soft on-field call from the ref but they don't want to intervene unless it's glaring
102' - WHAT A MISS FROM MERINO!
The Arsenal man ghosted in unmarked to get his head on a cross from the right flank, but he steers the ball wide. Great chance.
dantowen8195177d ago
What a difference Williams has made though!
100' - A sign of intent for Argentina as a defender Senesi comes on for forward Alvarez.
dantowen8195177d ago
Hahah the captain - and third all time top scorer - or inter Milan not getting a look in
98' - TalkingPoints user @markmarston isn't impressed by that disallowed goal.

91' - @david.comerford isn't expect much football to be played in extra time.

We go to extra-time in the World Cup final! Will there be a winner inside 120 minutes or does this go to penalties?
johnverrall1177d ago
Argentina are the most dislikable team in world football. A complete disgrace
dantowen8195177d ago
Get Borja Iglesias on! There’s no one I want to see score the winner more
febced177d ago
Spain will win, they have to win as Argentina is into thuggery again, big time. I hate Argentina with absolute passion.

93' - Here's what Enzo Fernandez was sent off for...
callum_boyle77d ago
I’m sure Enzo Fernandez will be given a warm reception at all Premier League grounds next season…
febced177d ago
He deserves his red card, 200%.
92' - ENZO FERNANDEZ HAS BEEN SENT OFF!
nielbarker377d ago
I can't believe how dirty their playing.. Just play football, it's the World Cup Final for F#ck sake. Your getting payed enough so earn it and stop cheating.. 🤬🤬
amirmir77d ago
Dirty, dirty Argies. Couldn't have happened to a better bloke!
dancoombs77d ago
Definite yellow card. However, absolute 10/10 backflip from Cubarsi.

90' - Four minutes to be added on at the end of this dire game.

89' - We're 89 minutes in and Argentina's xG for the game is currently 0.00.

Any hope football fans in America had of this World Cup sparking a surge in popularity has been killed by this final. Abysmal.
86' - Another half-chance for Spain is missed.

Get Bieber back on before extra time for a laugh
markmarston77d ago
Looking like extra time… Spain are probing but still hardly creating anything
78' - Martinez isn't impressing @markmarston much!

76' - It's all Spain!
amirmir77d ago
Martinez has had an error in him during the past two seasons at Villa. Keep shooting at him.
markmarston77d ago
Martinez has utterly butterly on those gloves… looks shaky today
