Just TWO points separate Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez after the Japanese GP 👀 Who is your pick for the title now?
8c7kgjbwg29h ago
👏Top man Marc, he deserves the championship. 👍😀🏁🏆

tyler.rowlinson10h ago
With Indonesia coming up, the title fight is hard to call right now. Marquez does not like Mandalika one bit, so Martin should get the chance to increase his lead again. My money is still slightly on Marquez, but anything can happen, especially on the clockwise tracks

Marc Marquez takes maximum points at Motegi as he wins the Japanese Grand Prix! How would you rate that race?
pixantz612h ago
Both races in Japan were unique. Not many hard battles and sizzling overtakes but all in all a lot of stability brought about to the championship progression by way of points tally. Marc made his mark! Also in both races Bastianini and Acosta seemed to have swapped bikes! Enea was really good and tough luck he couldn't snag a podium even after good races!!

tyler.rowlinson15h ago
I’d give it a 6. Besides the brilliant battle between Fernández, Ogura and Acosta, it did feel like a bit of a procession. Marquez bided his time to pass Martin, and when he did, that it was for the race
Enea Bastianini thinks it isn't "fair" to lose his Motegi Sprint podium for track limits on the final lap 🤏 What do you think?
MotoGP riders drop one place for ANY track limit offences while battling on the last lap
pixantz61d ago
Well, it's not a rule made specially for Enea on the fly. If something wasn't fair, it was he not being fair to himself doing that error. But it was a bummer given the circumstances. He kind of deserved a podium. So what if 3 faster riders crashed ahead of him, eh?
ahambly231d ago
I do think it's a bit harsh in these circumstances, but it's a difficult one to police. Opening it up to interpretation depending on how much of an advantage someone gets from would just gives stewards an even bigger headache
kyle.archer1d ago
The track limit rules have been there for long enough... Brad Binder lost a podium in the 2023 Dutch GP at Assen for a track limit offence on the final lap just like Enea Bastianini and Jorge Martin received in the Motegi Sprint. Yes, what they gained was negligible, but the rules are the same for everyone.
Alex Marquez gets a double long lap penalty for the Japanese GP - What penalty would you have given him?
Alex Marquez crashed with Pedro Acosta and Di Giannantonio in the Motegi Sprint
ahambly232d ago
I think a double LLP is the right punishment - he ruined the Sprint for both Acosta and Diggia, so that seems fair enough.
kyle.archer2d ago
Alex Marquez cannot have any issues with receiving a penalty for causing a crash that took two riders out of the Motegi Sprint. He also cannot argue with it being a double long lap penalty, as that was the same penalty that Johann Zarco received for his Catalan GP crash

Marc Marquez wins the Motegi Sprint 🏆 Give us your instant reaction to the action!
🚨 Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini were dropped one place for track limits on the final lap 🚨
pixantz61d ago
Great job by Marc fending off Martin. Sorry for Enea on missing rhe podium but if anything was unfair as he says, it was he who was unfair to himself making that error. And yeah, Diogo absolutely deserves that podium, dunno why be doesn't think so but he does! The work he did to get up to the spot where he benefited from the peanlties ahead is 💯 legit!! 👏
ahambly232d ago
Getting used to those Turn 1 stand-ups from Marquez nowadays. Hard luck for Bastianini and Martin, but you can't say Moreira didn't deserve a podium finish
♥ 1
kyle.archer2d ago
Jorge Martin was lucky to hold on to P2 there! What a ride from Enea Bastianini, and Diogo Moreira so close to putting a Honda on the (Sprint) podium at home
If Jack Miller isn't the most entertaining rider on the grid, who is? 🍿
ahambly232d ago
They don't make them like Miller anymore. Absolutely audacious to attempt it, and even more impressive to actually pull it off without a trip to the medical centre...
♥ 1
kyle.archer2d ago
MotoGP is going to miss Jack Miller A LOT in 2027, and will have to hope that Yamaha develop a bike that allows Toprak Razgatlioglu to enjoy himself and show his character again

Alex Marquez tops practice in Japan, as Fabio Quartararo secures a Q2 spot - Who joins these riders in the pole shootout?
ahambly232d ago
Quartararo doing Quartararo things yet again on that Yamaha, impressive stuff from him. I think Aldeguer should be hoping to secure a spot in Q2 tomorrow, as well as Francesco Bagnaia.
pixantz63d ago
The new asphalt and accompanying high grip levels is going to allow many normally slower riders to improve their lap times. May get busy and crowded at the top of the timing charts..... Doesn't seem to be any surprise contenders though. Aldeguer looks to gain from the conditions. S
kyle.archer3d ago
Great effort from Enea Bastianini, as well as Fabio Quartararo, to secure a Q2 spot. It could get interesting in Q1, as well, with Fermin Aldeguer and Brad Binder looking quick and Ai Ogura needing a response

Marc Marquez leads the Aprilia duo in FP1 at Motegi - What's your main takeaway from the first hour of practice? 🤔
pixantz63d ago
The top three in the championship look to be on the money right now. 1-2-3. Marc is believed to be taking on an 'Attack' stance from this Gp onwards. But he still looks to be in 'Eco' mode. Gets the lap time job done but doesn't rip it from the very first lap like Bez. Martin looks to be 3rd in pace. But its soon to decide as of now.
kyle.archer3d ago

Would you like to see Maverick Vinales back on the MotoGP grid in 2028?
pixantz63d ago
Most definately but maybe in a test rider role with wildcards? I'm not sure they're doing wildcards 2027 onwards. Pedrosa is done testing and only Pol is there. Maybe Viñales can join him or some other manufacturer and just be present. That might get him back if he's fast enought... Wishful thinking?
david.comerford3d ago
He's had his time. Over 200 race starts. I'm in favour of giving new riders a chance
♥ 1
kyle.archer4d ago
If MotoGP's Class of 2027 rookies hit the ground running, what reason would any of the teams have for bringing Maverick Vinales back? Sure, he can be fast on his day, but there is always more to the story with Maverick...

How would the MotoGP title race look if Marc Marquez hadn't missed the French and Catalan GPs?
tihemme3d ago
If Marc had raced in the Catalan GP, he would have witnessed Alex’s near miss firsthand, and I doubt he would have done either of the restarts. The French GP? Depends. Would he be Injured or not? Injured, 6 points. Not injured, he’d be celebrating his tenth this weekend.
tyler.rowlinson4d ago
If Marc was fully fit and without his nerve damage for Barcelona and Le Mans, his and Martin’s points tallies might be the other way round. Even if he was fit all year, Aprilia would be right there
ahambly234d ago
Would maybe suggest he would have been in contention for the win in Barcelona due to the pace of the other Ducatis that day. I doubt he would have been able to challenge Martin at Le Mans, however.
Francesco Bagnaia delivered a perfect weekend at Motegi last year, but why do you think it was a one-off? 🤔
ahambly234d ago
It was just such a strange weekend for him to be so dominant after such a difficult season. There had to have been some sizeable changes Ducati made to his bike for that weekend only
kyle.archer4d ago
The rumours that Ducati changed Francesco Bagnaia's GP25 more align with a GP24 at Motegi last year are only louder one year on, having continued to struggle to adapt to the GP25 and now the GP26
david.comerford4d ago
There were some interesting rumours floating around about his bike at that race, but they were never confirmed. In the end, it just sums up how confusing the last two years have been for Pecco at Ducati
Been thinking after Acosta's Austria win, who will be the next first-time MotoGP winner? My bet would be on Bulega, but it's hard to call
kyle.archer4d ago
Bulega is the obvious candidate given his testing experience with Ducati's 850cc bike. But if Honda adapt well to the new regulations, Moreira will hope to strike while the iron is hot.
ahambly234d ago
I think Moreira or Alonso could potentially be in with a shout next year if Honda's bike is as good as everyone is saying

What do you expect from Maverick Vinales as he returns from injury at Motegi?
david.comerford5d ago
I'm just shocked he's actually racing for Tech3 again
tyler.rowlinson5d ago
It’s now or never for Maverick. It’s almost certainly his last hoorah in MotoGP, so he has to make it count. I’m interested to see how his relationship with KTM unfolds for the rest of the season, because let’s face it, it’s been messy
pixantz66d ago
Happy for Top Gun. Hope he smokes some riders and comes back to form before the end of the season to end it in a spanking note with maybe a Lap record somewhere! 😅 He's surely capable. Unfortunately things went sideways for him. Sad to see that happen to seasoned Motogp riders what with everyone wanting a rookies cup these days instead of Titans clashing 😓

Give us your podium prediction for Motegi this weekend 🔮
kyle.archer5d ago
Pedro Acosta will believe he can fight Marc Marquez for the victory. But the real question is whether Jorge Martin backs up his performance in Austria and not only joins the podium but the fight for the victory. If Jorge falls short, could the door open for another surprise like Joan Mir's podium at Motegi last year?
pixantz66d ago
#93, #37, #89. Could be mixed.
david.comerford6d ago
This feels like one of the toughest rounds of the year to predict. I will go Marquez P1, Acosta P2, Martin P3, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Pedro go back-to-back

Why haven't KTM achieved more success in MotoGP? 🟠
They have only one year left to achieve the title goal set by their former boss

They could use budget as an excuse until Aprilia came along 😬

Nicolo Bulega is the 2026 WSBK champion! But how many MotoGP riders is he already BETTER than?
Bulega will be moving to the championship next year with VR46
pixantz67d ago
"Better" wouldn't be the right way to put it. Technically, he has unfair testing time on the prototype which will be raced next year, to a point where it almost feels illegal and like a loophole in the rules which Ducati have exploited knowingly or unknowingly. If I was in charge I'd make a rule disallowing this! Its a no-brainer. Surprising nobody objected!
david.comerford7d ago
In terms of riders he'll be up against next year, I'd take him ahead of Marini for sure and the current version of Moreira. I could be talked into Fernandez/Diggia/Bastianini too. Hard to put him ahead of any others yet.

MotoGP News has created our dream calendar after the 2027 schedule dropped 🌎 What do you think?
david.comerford8d ago
Moving the British GP could be smart, feels as if it will always be in F1's shadow as long as it's at Silverstone
ahambly238d ago
Having just the two races in Spain makes a lot more sense. Would also be very interested to see how the bikes would go around Buddh International Circuit.
kyle.archer8d ago
MotoGP needs to return to China and India, and fewer races in Spain would only be a good thing

The 2027 MotoGP calendar is confirmed! What race are you looking forward to the most? And what changes would you make?
pixantz69d ago
MM93 in Phillip Island is my fav event on the calender. Thats not happening next year🤯. So I'm pissed. Will make do with COTA instead. But waiting to go bonkers at all venues!!🏁🏁🏆😜

Glad Balaton is gone. Looks like we could have another big gap after Thailand if the Middle East situatoon continues though

Nicolo Bulega rejects claims that Ducati's 2027 bike is 'made for me' - What do you think?
pixantz69d ago
Each rider can brew his own concoction. Up until they have to homologate one for the first half. What that machine will be only time will tell. I'm sure there's tons of parts at Ducati and most of them are yet to be tested by the factory riders especially. So exciting!😆
ahambly2310d ago
I'm sure there will be some elements that favour Bulega's riding style on the GP27, but the main advantage he will have will be through the extensive amount of time that he's already had on the bike.
kyle.archer10d ago
Ducati have obviously had to rely a lot on Nicolo Bulega's feedback, but Marc Marquez will naturally have also had his say in what Ducati have been asking Bulega to test

Pedro Acosta is the eighth different Grand Prix winner in 2026 🏆 Who will be next?
pixantz69d ago
The only 2 who could possibly do it in current circumstances are Aldeguer and Bagnaia. But Bagnaia won't have the same weapons as last year, so lets see.
kyle.archer10d ago
Now that Pedro Acosta is finally off the mark, there is not an obvious pick for who will be the next rider to win a Grand Prix in 2026. Francesco Bagnaia would be the obvious candidate given that he's on a factory Ducati GP26, but his form is too inconsistent. So, Fermin Aldeguer on his GP25 could actually be the next in line.
Is Spain's dominance of the MotoGP grid a problem and, if so, what's the best way to fix it?
kyle.archer11d ago
Of course it is not a problem (only for Liberty Media in its efforts to have riders from multiple nations to help grow MotoGP in one specific way). Spanish and Italian riders largely dominate the paddock as those countries invested in creating a pathway that has yielded results.
tihemme11d ago
Spanish/Italian dominance is only a problem if an international quota is enforced by the organizational tier before the organizational tier does its part to invest in international Motorsport at the youth levels. If they want to impose a passport rule, the most dominant logos on leathers for international youth riders should be Dorna and Liberty Media’s.
♥ 1
david.comerford11d ago
First off, it's not just Spain - it's Spain and Italy. Ultimately, those are the countries producing the best riders at the moment. It should be a meritocracy and it broadly is. Those two nations dominate because they take motorcycle racing the most seriously. We shouldn't lower the overall quality of the grid purely so Liberty can appeal to more markets.

Somkiat Chantra will return to MotoGP at Motegi to replace Joan Mir 🚨 What would be an acceptable result?
tihemme11d ago
An acceptable result is for Somkiat to show up and finish the race with a personal best, and for Joan to come through this medical nightmare healthy enough to ride again before the season ends.
david.comerford11d ago
Nakagami was already due to be a wildcard. They should have just stuck with four riders...
ahambly2312d ago
Seeing the chequered flag, tbh. Chantra was often a few seconds behind during his full-time days in MotoGP, so "im not holding out any hope that he will be able to score any points at Motegi.
To diversify the sport, and specifically the grid, the current bonus is €30K per non-Spanish/Italian rider signed for Moto3 and Moto2. But motorsports have become inaccessible for youth worldwide, inevitably shutting out many of the potential best riders while preteens. Should the organizing tier contribute financially at youth levels to reach its own goals?
david.comerford11d ago
They need to focus on building up the infrastructure outside Spain, Italy and Japan. The signing bonus is a very short-sighted solution
♥ 1
MotoGP has confirmed the 2027 season will finish in Valencia - What are your thoughts on the news?
kyle.archer12d ago
Valencia certainly draws a big attendance, so deserves to be the season finale on that basis. But in terms of action? The cold conditions and the circuit layout in Valencia in November do not tend to make it a great spectacle for the season finale
david.comerford12d ago
There was some talk that it might be Adelaide, but I think it's better to see if that race is actually any good before giving it such a significant slot!

Diogo Moreira put Honda on top in the 850cc test at the Red Bull Ring - What is your biggest takeaway?
pixantz611d ago
Impressive times but too early to comment. I mean, you could keep the speculation stove burning whole day but it doesn't matter. I'll sit up and take notice once things start to really get serious. My personal marker is that Dark Red Dot on the charts. Once it starts hovering around the top, I'll know people are really turning up the wick now 😉
johanesbp12d ago
850cc fastest lap averages in mid 1:29? that's sprint race pace.

ahambly2313d ago
Hmmm Maverick Vinales seems to still be quite competitive, so will we see him at Motegi? 🤔
Is Pedro Acosta already in the alien tier of MotoGP riders? 👽
tihemme13d ago
First off - full acknowledgment, Pedro ran one hell of a race. But easy does it on the designation. He’s on home soil where he has most track experience, on a bike that weirdly suits him alone. He still needs to mature through trial and error. Give him a year on a new bike under Marc’s mentorship, and revisit the question. My bet? He will be. But not yet.
♥ 1
jonnyh17913d ago
He is a very special rider who will push Marc to his limit and beyond next year. His challenger when he is King will be Quiles

aaditya.krishnamurthy13d ago
Look, I'm a huge fan of Acosta's and I think he is the future of the sport... But 'Alien' is a distinction that has to be earned. Acosta just hasn't earned that yet. We've seen how the KTM's mechanical weakness has HURT him this season. I have no doubt he will be one, but that monicker has to be earned.

Pedro Acosta tops our rider ratings for the Austrian GP, but which score would you change?
tihemme13d ago
I’d give Bez eight as well. He kept his head to finish the race, and kept up when Pedro and Jorge widened the gap. He’s learning to pace himself and not take unnecessary risks.
david.comerford13d ago
I think Marquez deserves a seven as well. He may have looked ordinary but he still beat all the other Ducatis. Acosta should be nine because he blew the Sprint
♥ 1
aaditya.krishnamurthy14d ago
Honestly, this might sound harsh, but even with the brake issue, I wouldn't give Marc Marquez a score higher than a five or a six! He just didn't have it on the day, and squandering a front row start like he did isn't like him at all.
♥ 1
Was Austria a must-win for Jorge Martin, or should he be happy to build a lead over Marc Marquez?
ardashjoseph13d ago
Wahan about the “arm pump”of Martin? It seems when Marc is not around, it’s not an issue??
david.comerford14d ago
It seems like a good weekend for Martin right now but when Marc is below par, you need to win. Those six lost points could cost him
♥ 1
aaditya.krishnamurthy14d ago
I mean, outside of the few points he left on the table today, Martin had about as perfect a weekend as he could have hoped for. It's a slender lead, but one that will give him breathing room over Marquez.
Give us your reaction as Pedro Acosta FINALLY wins a MotoGP race
hughmungass14d ago
I've suddenly come to the conclusion that Acosta with the belligerence of youth is not going to be an easy target for Marcs headgames as he has a confidence unmatched by any other of Marcs rivals. So Marcs just going to have to duke it out the old fashioned way & in playing the long game.... Youth will eventually win out. Great win to Pedro 🏁

Called it! Pedro pushed the limit yesterday to find it, and today played spectacularly within it for the win. Fantastic for him, for KTM, and for Ducati!

What do we think of Gonzalez staying in Moto2 with Intact? Right call not to move to WSBK?
hughmungass14d ago
It's realistic to presume that by staying in M2 he may now stagnate, go backwards & get spat out the other end. I don't think he will get a GP berth as too many talented younger riders around him (Quiles also next year) & he should have gone to WSBK IMHO
pixantz614d ago
Maybe he thinks that Moto2 is a better springboard to jump into Motogp? Don't know if this makes sense 😅
tyler.rowlinson14d ago
Manu can’t hang around in the junior categories much longer, especially if he wins the title this year. He needs to make a move at some point, and WSBK is a good option for him
What do you think of MotoGP's potential new weekend format?
tihemme14d ago
Saturdays are already a nightmare. If Liberty wants more entertaining rider content, stop overwhelming them with endless, needless tasks and expectations. Quality, not quantity, folks. These are high-level athletes first, celebrities eighth. They need focus and energy. Giving space for both will heighten the quality of their engagement with media in turn.
david.comerford15d ago
Apparently we could also see a Q1/Q2/Q3 format like in F1. I see why they want to homogenise, but I don't think it will go down well
8c7kgjbwg215d ago
Just like the F1 , i think it’s a great idea. If someone has difficulties or crashes in sprint qualifying then they have another chance for the main GP. 👍😀🏁🏆
Pedro Acosta crashed out of the Austrian GP Sprint after a 'major screw-up' looking at his dash 🫣 What are your thoughts on his race-ending mistake?
blackbianchi113d ago
Think back to what YOU were doing when you were 22 years old. Then all you haters can shut the hell up. How much pressure is on this young man, and he is still giving it his all. You can see it in his riding that he is committed 100%. Did you think Pedro was the first person to crash while leading? How about Marco, ........last week.
tihemme15d ago
He’s learned well from the master: push the limit to find the limit and from there, play just within it. Tomorrow is the real race.
hughmungass15d ago
Watching his entry speed & trajectory into the corner, I thought WTF is he doing & briefly wondered if he was enjoying himself so much, he decided to try that corner out with a 90 degree lean angle just to see if it could be done. A mistake so moving on
Jorge Martin wins the Austrian GP Sprint Race after Pedro Acosta's late crash - What did you make of the Sprint?
tihemme15d ago
The recovery from 8th was phenomenal, and it’s good to see pump arm isn’t a factor right now. I thought Bez would be third. Marc looked pissed off; his expression on the podium and in the car could have seared steak. What’s with that?
♥ 1
hughmungass15d ago
Quite the turnout for Martin and deserves all the plaudits after falling back to 8th place I think. The leveller for a few of them will be the longer format so really looking forward to that. Bagnaia suprised so might put in an appearance on Sunday?

ahambly2315d ago
Unreal from Martin, a real champion's performance despite it only being a Sprint race. Absolutely gutted for Acosta, though, even if the crash was entirely his fault.
Jorge Martin scores pole position for the Austrian GP 🏁 Give us your instant reaction to qualifying!
pixantz615d ago
As I said yesterday, the Italian bikes will respond today. Yesterday they were building setups while the world was shouting "Acosta! Acosta!" Close tight packed grid for Austria. Lets see!
ahambly2315d ago
Fair play to Martin, I really thought Acosta was going to be untouchable in qualifying but that was a mega effort from the Aprilia man.
kyle.archer16d ago
Great to see Jorge Martin finally delivering in qualifying again, and Fabio Quartararo sneaking his Yamaha into the top nine? Another reminder of the rider that Quartararo has become due to Yamaha's woes, and will be interesting to see whether he keeps pushing in the Austrian GP or accepts his fate and drops back
Pedro Acosta was the fastest in practice at the Austrian GP - Can anyone beat him to pole position in qualifying?
hughmungass16d ago
Each piece on Marcs psychological chessboard is named after each rider on the grid & he keeps he keeps moving them around as he pleases with the headgames that he plays. It is Acostas turn to be the recipient of these games this weekend & nobody plays psycho chess better than Marc Marc Karpov.... a master player 😜
pixantz616d ago
If anyone noticed, Acosta has been normally very rapid in Austria always. I think Martin and Marc will sit up and take notice on saturday. Everone seemed preoccupied with things other than Pedro on friday. He'll have company soon up top.
blackbianchi116d ago
I am praying that he wins. But....this is just FP1, and we have a broken thumb, arm pump, lack of confidence, and a 7 time world champion to get over on.

Pedro Acosta tops FP1 at the Red Bull Ring! Could this be the weekend he wins his first MotoGP race?
ahambly2316d ago
May be a little too early to tell after FP1, but Acosta and Espargaro's pace suggest KTM may have a strong package at their home race this weekend.
aaditya.krishnamurthy16d ago
Didn't expect Espargaro to knock Marquez out of the Top 3, but it might be a good sign for KTM at their home race! Acosta looked rapid, he REALLY wants to get the first win this weekend!
How do Pedro Acosta's KTM performances compare to Marc Marquez's latter years at Honda?
jonnyh17916d ago
#PA37 🏆🧡🇦🇹🇪🇸
hughmungass17d ago
The statement 'Marcs latter years', what stage is this question referring to... pre 2020 or post 2020? The question is absurd and there is absolutely no fair comparison to Acosta as pre 2020 Marc was winning races & post 2020 he was injured severely but still won 3 races. Comparison.... Acosta has yet to win a race
ahambly2317d ago
I'd have to agree with Espargaro here. The fact Acosta is able to score so many podiums atop the KTM while a top 10 for the rest of the stable is classed as a good result is incredible.
Would Marc Marquez winning the 2026 title be the greatest achievement in MotoGP history? 🥇
joshualewis61516d ago
Of course. Based off of how many points behind he was and how he's racing with 1 1/2 arms, but let's not forget that everyone else isn't exactly making it hard for him. Marc learns from his mistakes.
pixantz618d ago
Definately. People don't yet understand the extent of what we would be witnessing. Its a once in a lifetime moment and we are alive in that moment in history! How many times does one get to see such a feat in one's lifetime?
