🚨Cristiano Ronaldo has officially announced his retirement from international football. Give us your immediate reaction

jamesshearman2313h ago

What a sad ending to one of the greatest international careers ever. He will still get his flowers but he’ll never be adored like he should have been. Shame his ego got in the way

freddie13h ago

Really thought he was gonna go for the 1000… thank god he’s gone. Portugal might acc win now!

kayshining14h ago

I wish all the best

josh.barker15h ago

Can see him coming back for the Euros

stephenjholmes115h ago

Sometimes it is better to finish and let others step in. Christiano is a legend for both club's that he has served, and for his country, but he has prioritized personal glory over what is best for the good of the team/country.

Thanks for the memories CR7 🐐

Couldn't give a toss!

daviescallum4217h ago

Pushed rather than walked it feels 👀

peter.lynch17h ago

The Ronaldo hate is absolutely wild 🤣 you’ll all miss him now that he’s gone. One of the greatest players and entertainers ever, a living legend 👑

daviescallum4217h ago

In my eyes he’s been retired from general football for years now anyway lmao

matthew.johns17h ago

An incredible international career has ended on a bit of a sour note, will be interesting to see if he has a role within the setup in the future

daviescallum4217h ago

History will obvs be kind to his legacy, but it is a shame how it’s ended right now

pranav.shahaney17h ago

Should have retired earlier and would have been looked back on more fondly. Or, he could have accepted that he’s an impact sub and nothing more. Has a great legacy in the game but it’s been tarnished a bit

james.brooke17h ago

Hung around far too long and arguably hasnt been useful to Portugal for 10 years. Deserves credit for what he’s achieved, but would have earned far more if he’d called it a day when he should have. Ultimately what he wants is adulation, so he should see it as an own goal

caleb.sage17h ago

Sad way to go out because his international record was phenomenal. Should’ve retired after the World Cup and avoided that mess with Jorge Jesus.

george.patten17h ago

Should have done it a few years ago. Done some great things in the sport and is undeniably one of the best of all time. Past it now though

chillout17h ago

It’s always difficult to give up and walk away.

jonathan.gorrie17h ago

Not the most graceful of exits to say the least but that shouldn't tar his on-field achievements. Been incredible and yeah he's made a fool out of himself at times but what a player

leeclarke050817h ago

Hard not to respect him for what he's achieved but the Portugal side will undoubtedly kick on now.

donaghcorby199717h ago

Some of these comments are crazy. Sure, he’s past it now but he’s the greatest footballer of all time and has given his all to his country.

will.butcher17h ago

Unbelievable player, one of the best we’ve ever seen. But this should have happened 2/3 years ago

david.comerford17h ago

Portugal will have a better chance without him on home soil in 2026, but still have a suspicion he'll be there

chillout17h ago

Much respect for this guy. I know there were a lot of haters and he was unlucky to share a lot of his international career on the same stage as Messi, but he was one of the best players ever and I’m not sure we will see someone like him again. It will have been a tough decision for him to make.

jameslloyd14.jl18h ago

Portugal may actually be able to kick on and achieve something again now

callum_boyle18h ago

Taking this with a pinch of salt. He’s very Tyson Fury in that he will just decide to return at any given moment

dancoombs18h ago

He will be back…

scapaldi196818h ago

About time. The Portugal national team is not all about him.

callum_boyle18h ago

They play better without him as well. Excited to see the next generation

jordan.harris18h ago

Stayed way too long. His ego held Portugal back and I wouldn’t be shocked if he plays for them again

charlesjones18h ago

Good riddance

mitchfarrow5718h ago

At last, Muppet

brogan17h ago

Totally agree with this. Finally the circus show has come to an end. Thoughts are with Piers Morgan 😂

callum_boyle18h ago

Portugal side is better without him
