← Manchester United at Chelsea LIVE - Premier League

17th in the table - Do United need to take finishing in the bottom three as a serious threat?

How worried are YOU about the R word?

geldroper2d ago

That is the only way we get real soccer in England.Basic good wages with a insentive to make it great. They do not deserve those payouts for doing nothing

jjflash4222d ago

I think the only way is a basic wage for each with incentives,eg.assists, clean sheets, goals etc.I know it won't work legally but I remember onana complaining when we weren't in Europe, that he had to take a 20% pay cut or some figure close to it.That will perk them up.

stephenjholmes13d ago

Worried enough to have put £20 on us getting relegated. I got 33-1 so at least if the worst we're to happen,I drown my sorrows. Best case scenario, I lost £20. I can definitely live with loosing £20

kyle.dimond3d ago

Absolutely. I’m not sure this problem is going to sort itself out and you’re putting a lot of hope in a new manager turning things around

caleb.sage4d ago

They’ll be fine once they sack Carrick and get their customary new manager bounce😅

ssahibdeen84d ago

I can’t help but think about Spurs last season with all their solid players, multiple coaching changes and relegation fight up to the last day of the season. I never thought that Man United would find themselves in that situation. But it could become a reality. LIcha also reminds me of Romero, who I believe intentionally played his way out out of the team

vatsal3d ago

@ssahibdeen8 We loved Martinez because he burned all bridges with Ajax to force a move to Man Utd. I'm afraid we're at the wrong end of the same thing happening now!

thetruthpersonified4d ago

Are you suggesting that Argentinian players lack integrity?

daviescallum424d ago

Yes because the other lower teams are actually picking up points. United are sinking fast

jackgallagher4d ago

It's not looking pretty, serious overhaul of players needed again. Bring in the right defenders in Jan and they'll climb up, but will be a struggle til then

stephenjholmes13d ago

We are saying the same every year. The current players aren't good enough.

aryansurajc4d ago

They’ll catch up a little bit but this season is going to be disastrous and yeah Car is going out soon!

dantowen819514d ago

I first said it during the Tottenham game. This feels like a death spiral now - I’ve actually convinced myself I’d take relegation if it meant getting rid of the Glazers at last

dancoombs3d ago

I don’t think they would leave if we got relegated. Not sure the misery would be worth it

thetruthpersonified4d ago

Trouble is. It may not and we may not get back swiftly. Even if we did, the financial damage would be significant.

donaghcorby19974d ago

It’s perhaps too early in the season to sound the alarms just yet, but Spurs found themselves in a very similar and frightening position recently, while West Ham actually did end up dropping. Something needs to change, and it might be a lot deeper than the team on the pitch

stephenjholmes14d ago

You keep kicking the can down the road. We will be opening our Christmas presents while having not even picked up any more points. Coventry were my 3 pointer (not on current form).

dancoombs4d ago

I don’t believe this team are capable of going on a run to save themselves if they really need to. There is something badly wrong with the club at the moment

philcolli723d ago

@dancoombs I fear we face a genuine threat of relegation this season. How many of this squad genuinely want to play for the shirt and are worthy of it. If relegation what we need to get rid of the lazy players and the glazers

davecarey284d ago

@dancoombs you have it spot on seriously wrong! How come we get a new manager and then after a year or so we are back to square one, it has to be the setup and management.

seanfisher4d ago

It’s a serious threat, absolutely. And your weekly reminder 🚨 THIS IS ALL ON AMAZON’S CAMERAS 😭

matthew.johns4d ago

I think I would still be surprise if they went down, but United certainly cannot be complacent as that is where they are currently headed.

shamanth.jayaram5d ago

United will stay up but they really should see it as a threat. The PL is tougher than ever now and there are no easy wins anymore. Got to get the next managerial appointment right

stephenjholmes14d ago

This goes way beyond the manager. The whole circus that is our club is infested with rats.

jordan.harris5d ago

Given that Sunderland and Forest are probably going to get their act together at some point, absolutely. However I still can’t comprehend them getting relegated

will.butcher5d ago

The way they are making individual mistakes, absolutely no doubt they will be in a relegation battle if things continue going the way they are

dakir.thanveer5d ago

Not at all! Don't see it happening at all but it's humiliating nevertheless to be there

chillout5d ago

West Ham, Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Leicester City - all Premier League clubs too good to go down who were relegated! That said, I find it unimaginable that United can’t start to put some results together and pulling away to mid-table security.

stephenjholmes13d ago

In our current predicament, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to see us do a Leicester. We have truly swapped places with City. League 1 isn't looking like too much of an exaggeration presently. Every day just seems to present a new low point. How on earth can they keep avoiding decisive action. I will be amazed if our knights survive this😭

stephenjholmes14d ago

We could have been picking up points all the time. It is the total refusal to try and give ANY of our academy lads a game. MC should be done for treason, the way he has spat on the whole DNA of United

adnan.riaz5d ago

'Serious threat?' Of course it is. We are literally in Spurs' position from last season. It should be a major concern.

stephenjholmes14d ago

I think Spurs position from last season would almost feel like winning the Champions League again. The only way to deal with this on a personal level, is to put a£10 bet on us to go down. At least in the unimaginable reality that we do go down, £250 to drown your sorrows. Best case scenario you lose £10.

seanfisher4d ago

We’re in the bottom three and - I’m not joking - I don’t see us picking up points anywhere 😂 every single game looks like a banana skin

epi2media5d ago

Unfortunately, Utd became a carcass a long time ago, which has been attracting vultures. Both managers and players now know that non-performance is rewarded with huge pay-offs. There is no motivation to perform - just get through the door and you are set for life. Some nuts are just lucky in life - everyone else work their socks off for a living!

adnan.riaz5d ago

@epi2media, truly a train wreck from top to bottom. It's depressing to see.

franrobtradepoint5d ago

Clear out required in January Amass Lacy must be given a chance. It can not get any worse.Current players simply not good enough if im honest.

adnan.riaz5d ago

@franrobtradepoint, I do not understand why Shea Lacey is not playing more. Same goes for Harry Amass as well.

kilham.max5d ago

Absolutely, very few teams are too good to go down. Don’t see it happening if they change manager. However, if Carrick remains in charge, it is a very real possibility.

adnan.riaz5d ago

@kilham.max, it really is a problem. Any team can be relegated from the Premier League when they fall as hard as Man Utd have done.

shaunlmallen5d ago

Yes and changing the manager will not help although I agree he should be sacked but unless they change the structure then nothing will change. No decent manager will work with the two ex city incompetents or sir dim .so championship here we come .never thought id live to see it again

chillout5d ago

I’m not sure about that - United are a massive club; I think any manager with ambition would jump at the chance of turning this giant around. I think it is worse than it looks - it won’t take much for the feel good factor to be back (but I do agree that the club needs systemic change - and probably new owners. Jim & Co seem to have made it worse).

adnan.riaz5d ago

@shaunlmallen, I agree. We saw it with Ruben. We were lucky not to be relegated that season after Erik ten Hag was sacked.

jonny5d ago

Not worried, I think Carrick goes after the Villa game ( I assume his replacement said he won’t come until the international break ) and then we should pick up points quickly with competent coaching

stephenjholmes14d ago

Yes Carrick needs to be gone, but who is convincing him to play the dross whilst ignoring the likes of Lacey? Whoever is doing that needs to be gone. I wouldn't allow anyone from the training team to enter Carrington again. Wilcox should be put in stocks and pelted with the sh!t he has subject our great club too

chillout5d ago

It seems almost impossible that there won’t be a new manager bounce - and I think the fans will also have a big part to play in the coming weeks. Whatever they think of the owners and the Board, they need to get behind and motivate the players - even those who have let themselves and the fans down.
