Talk Villa

jordan.harris27d ago

It is difficult to see a downside to this signing. Obviously he’s not quite the player he once was, but even with a current injury, he’s still going to bring plenty to Villa

james.brooke27d ago

The UCL group runs until almost Feb now, so it shouldn’t be a problem really. Frustrating but I do think he’ll end up being a pretty good signing. Generally has been quite robust fitness wise so hopefully just a short term issue and that’ll be it

amirmir27d ago

The fact that he is part of the UCL squad and is out until after the break that annoys me. Not the fact that he is injured. Others could and should have been selected.

amirmir32d ago

That 23/24 season, he was unreal. A key reason why we got back into Europe and then the UCL. He weren't at it when he first joined, lift off under Emery, and then faded away towards the end. Still a success in my book.

dantowen8195132d ago

Might as well! He’s shown some great flashes, should get more chances now in a rebuild. Nice, neat passer, needs to add more dynamism to his game

eoin32d ago

Need to see him perform now, been flashes but villa desperately Will need attacking output

amirmir32d ago

Yes, fantastic player, showing great signs of improvement, long way to go, but worth keeping!

dantowen8195132d ago

Not sure. Hard to tell given how dreadful that Southampton side was

eoin33d ago

Think Hes quality. Will be a starter in no time with Konsa gone. Has all the qualities on and off the ball

amirmir33d ago

Well, it's pretty clear, if he doesn't perform from now until Jan, then he will be gone in the winter.

amirmir33d ago

Emery is going to turn him into a machine.

jonathan.gorrie33d ago

Great signing! Weird window from Villa but squad does look decent

kyle.dimond33d ago

Expect Emery to turn things around but the concern is always whether this is giving him a reason to look for another job. He’s basically having to build a whole new team again

david.comerford34d ago

I looked at the side yesterday and it was the kind of team Villa would have put out in the Carabao Cup last year, quality-wise. Very uninspiring

jamesshearman2334d ago

I wouldn’t be worried yet. In Emery we trust. Jackson will score goals and they have more players to come into the XI

amirmir34d ago

At that start of the summer, happy to sell. But now that everyone has left, he needs to stay.

callum_boyle35d ago

Solid signing but not any better than Konsa. But then again, it’s hard to find a replacement of that quality

amirmir36d ago

Defo the best of the Prem era. Then it's between Emi, Jimmy Rimmer and Nigel Spink, European Cup-winning keepers, as to who is the best of all.

majeedlytle36d ago

He just want to strengthen his squad.

freddie36d ago

Nah not a fan, there must be a reason no one else has really touched him

charlesjones36d ago

He’s a great player. Sign him and just leave Garnacho on the bench

dale.odonnell36d ago

Really good signing for Villa. I think he’s perfectly suited.

dale.odonnell36d ago

It looks like an exciting rebuild is taking shape under Emery. I saw some people question him after the opening day of the season. I think fans should rally behind him; a very good coach who loves the club, inevitable that change is needed in the team and bumps along the way are inevitable.

dancoombs37d ago

Manzambi, Mbaye and Madjo is an exciting trio to build around for the future. Might take a while for the whole team to gel but Emery can do it

amirmir37d ago

In Unai Emery we trust. Short term pain, long term gain. Now for patience with this new squad, but this is a very good signing.

amirmir38d ago

Barca away. PSG at home again. Yes fing please 😀😀😀

amirmir38d ago

Yes, although he has done nothing wrong. For the lack of minutes he played, he has done his bit. Late equaliser v Leeds and winner v Sunderland. But the call to let Malen leave the other way in Jan and join Roma seems more and more painful by the game.

amirmir39d ago

Massive yes for me! Villa need a lift, and he is the perfect player for it. He needs Villa and Villa needs him. Get it done!

amirmir39d ago

I very much like the signing. A younger version of Ollie and he's better at this age than Watkins was. Bring it on.

dantowen8195139d ago

I can’t help feel Villa shoot themselves in the foot sometimes - I know they’ve had a nightmare with PSR but then they go and pay ludicrous fees for Garnacho and Jackson

eoin39d ago

I dont mind It. Still Young enough and definitely has the physicality. Probably better options though

amirmir39d ago

Not for me, although I can understand the links. Jackson is still a better option.

amirmir40d ago

Tomori, yes. Leao, not for me.

amirmir40d ago

A no for me. Prefer Jackson. Knows Emery, suits the system better, more chaotic and younger.

eoin42d ago

Sour note to a brillisnt villa Carrer, Hes gone

amirmir42d ago

Goodbye. I won't say god bless. Enjoy the oil, and get to fuck! There is one thing wanting to move, another refusing to play, which is one if the worst things you can do as a footballer. Utter disgrace!

caleb.sage42d ago

This shocked me, but that’s what happens when the entire spine of your team gets ripped out 🤷‍♂️

eoin42d ago

Not looking great, about as bad a season opener as youll see

jonathan.gorrie42d ago

I think they’ll be fine, they’ve always had a hiccup in them. But yeah, gutting that the rules rip the team apart
