Aston Villa start the season with back-to-back defeats after losing against Arsenal. What has been the main reason for this slow start?

kyle.dimond4w ago

Expect Emery to turn things around but the concern is always whether this is giving him a reason to look for another job. He’s basically having to build a whole new team again

I looked at the side yesterday and it was the kind of team Villa would have put out in the Carabao Cup last year, quality-wise. Very uninspiring

I wouldn’t be worried yet. In Emery we trust. Jackson will score goals and they have more players to come into the XI

Could be a similar story to last season in starting slow, wouldn’t be panicking too much if I were a Villa fan rn

Genuinely can’t believe how badly they’ve been gutted… losing several key players will take time to fix, but Emery is a top manager and I think they’ll be fine. Nothing spectacular, but no need to panic at all

I think Villa fans will worry that Emery may eventually walk - his reward for European silverware ? Desimating his squad!

Lots of changes so last week a write off but much better tonight. Arsenal just too strong at the end of the day.

aryansurajc4w ago

It will take time but they will be solid

I think going again after the European win last year and losing so many key players was always going to be difficult. Arsenal were not that impressive tonight though, so I don’t think Villa need to worry too much

Look, Villa have sold more than half the starters from the Europa Final. Lots of new signings, played two very good teams early. Emery will get this team going

chillout4w ago

They seem to specialise in slow starts in recent years, but key player sales, new squad integrations and tough opponents for the first two games also won’t have helped. I think top 10 would be a decent teturn for them this season, but you can never write off Emery.

This transfer window can’t have helped them in any way. Once it’s closed I think they’ll be fine. Wouldn’t panic too much but just need to get the squad settled
