A horror-opening-game Premier League defeat for Aston Villa. What are your thoughts?

This shocked me, but that’s what happens when the entire spine of your team gets ripped out 🤷♂️

Not looking great, about as bad a season opener as youll see

I think they’ll be fine, they’ve always had a hiccup in them. But yeah, gutting that the rules rip the team apart

Sad to see them forced into selling so many of their key players. Premier League do not want the apple cart upset.

I wouldn’t write off Emery just yet, although that first half was nothing short of HORRIBLE

End of an era it feels like… been some ride for Villa fans. But this happens to all of us… Leicester, West Ham, Newcastle… dare to challenge the big six

You make out as if the 'big six' is this conrete pillar of English football. It has only been in exsistence since around 2013. We have made Europe before that time, we are in it now, and will get it again. If it's short term pain, then so be it, but long term, we will be fine again.

Didn’t Villa get battered by Newcastle in the opener a year or two ago.. and went on to have a great season?

They have become slow starters - I think it took 6 games last season before they got their first win. They still finished 4th. That said, I don’t think it will be as easy for them this season. Emery could be gone at seasons end too.

Lost too many key players this time tho. Rogers, Tielemans, Konsa and now Watkins

Just outstanding. To be this consistently shit in one game is a serious skill. I can't wait for Arsenal next Monday 👏👏👏
