Stefano Domenicali has confirmed F1 will race in Qatar and Abu Dhabi in 2026 🚨 Give us your instant reaction

dmoxon2d ago

This isn’t final confirmation. F1 saying nothing is official yet and that Imola is still preparing to step in as a backup plan if needed.

david.comerford2d ago

Unrelated, The Times reported that whoever cancelled the race (i.e. the circuit or F1 themselves) would face a financial penalty...

ahambly232d ago

Mainly just gutted that Imola won't be putting on a chaotic European season-finale in December. Still think it is completely the wrong decision though

Are the people 'above' Fred Vasseur the REAL problem at Ferrari?

Lewis Hamilton thinks the team principal shouldn't face all the blame for the team's issues

skshaggis3d ago

Ferrari have always been a thorn in their own side. The culture there is super divisive and as I've said before, until that changes, their lack of success will continue

♥ 1

tyler.rowlinson3d ago

Ferrari have had problems at the top for so long. It’s always been ‘we’re Ferrari, we’re perfectly, everyone else is wrong’. They can’t embrace change, which is exactly why Lewis struggled last year and why they’re not getting anywhere now. Vasseur has to stomach some blame, but he’s far from the main issue

♥ 1

ahambly233d ago

Definitely, Ferrari will always be Ferrari, and putting heaps of pressure on the F1 team's leadership definitely won't help anything

Franco Colapinto has warned Lando Norris to be 'careful' after his comments on their Baku crash - What do you think?

skshaggis3d ago

Colapinto should not be "warning" Norris. He should be "warning" his fans and the Argentinean press, as well as that country's politicians!

kawasaki_243d ago

I think calapinto came into that corner like a bull in a China shop totally out of order as though he was going to get round the corner he came up like a loonatic" totally his fault without a doubt knocking two cars off the track crazy move .pointless approach.

ronswenson4d ago

Yeah, they all do it.. they just need to learn to keep cool. I saw and interesting shot of colapintos escapadefrom above, he was already at full lock when he came into frame, a long way out. He realised to late he was coming in too hot when everyone was at slow speed preparing to negotiate the corner. Alpine said he used 2% too much brake. Nonsense

If this is Esteban Ocon's last season, how will his F1 career be remembered?

stevef69124d ago

If Ocon in 10 years has not proven he can deliver consistent point scoring results to team managers/owners then he will obviously be overlooked for highly skilled younger drivers. Yes in this sport it is dog eat dog & the main criteria for drivers that matters is results performance that earns points which equates to millions of dollars for the teams, period

adamohussain524d ago

He was a talented driver that initially had to fight for everything coming from basic means but truly never given an opportunity in a good team having to fight in the lower teams.

Do you prefer Max Verstappen's ideal F1 weekend format to the current schedule?

What do you make of Ferrari's statement in support of Fred Vasseur?

matth5d ago

Corporate chess? Ferrari gives Fred public support to kill the paddock rumors, but in doing so, they've set a firm deadline... deliver now or the door is open for ????

david.comerford6d ago

Too often, Ferrari leave their TP isolated. I applaud them for speaking out this time

pecco6d ago

Roughly translated if we lose faith, Lewis and Fred are both gone

No team suspension for Colapinto then. To be honest, I don't think Briatore should see a need to impose any punishment here. Franco was very apologetic and this should be an isolated incident. It would be another matter if he was a repeat offender

seanfisher6d ago

Completely agree. I think suspending him would’ve blown it out of proportion more than it already has been by the Norris comments. A silly mistake? Sure. But time to move on

If Fred Vasseur leaves Ferrari, who would be the best replacement?

skshaggis6d ago

It doesn't matter who they have as Team Principal. As long as Ferrari continues to be manipulated by Italian media and the current culture that exists at Ferrari, they will continue to be ineffective!

♥ 2

seanfisher6d ago

Antonello Coletta would be such an exciting hire. He has experience putting Ferrari back on the top step in WEC, time to see if he can do it in F1 too

david.comerford6d ago

They should go all-out to get Andrea Stella. He knows the team already, so they may be receptive to the changes he'd need to make to win titles

Was Lando Norris right to apologise for his comments about Franco Colapinto?

Norris implied that Colapinto shouldn't be in F1 and deserved a race ban after his Azerbaijan GP move

skshaggis6d ago

Absolutely

klarabellavdv216d ago

For me it was a harsh comment , but I get it he was angry. I think he should apologize, everyone makes mistakes

♥ 1

ronswenson7d ago

He was upset… and looking for a target to blame. Colapinto was clearly not thinking straight at the time of his utterly crazy decision to go for broke. Lando similarly did not engage his brain before opening his mouth, so yes he was right to apologise. A ban is to sever, but end of the grid penalty definitely… or something else must be reasonably tough

How do you think Lewis Hamilton would react if Ferrari hired Christian Horner?

Hamilton confirmed his backing for Fred Vasseur after the Azerbaijan GP

matth7d ago

I'm not sure Horner would want to keep him anyway. Hamilton rose above it but his antics got personal. Ferrari needs a bit of a shake up but Horner would be a disaster with their ownership and they'd end up paying him a lot of money just to get rid of him. I don't doubt that he could engineer some wins but the very fabric of the team would be in tatters.

♥ 1

ronswenson7d ago

Maybe Hamilton should take over 🙄😁

seanfisher7d ago

Surely he’ll be using whatever influence he has behind the scenes to make sure this doesn’t happen. But a change of leadership at Ferrari does feel somewhat inevitable

What could Ferrari achieve with Christian Horner at the helm?

nbb2hkf5f86d ago

Ferrari don t need Horner they need another PU and ICU for next year and a better execution of the races..

pecco7d ago

That spirit can be very political….. imagine a brand like Ferrari gong all this time without a championship….. it’s time to look internally at what the real leavers holding it back.

skshaggis7d ago

As good as Horner is, I believe he would not be a good fit for Ferrari.

Jamie Chadwick has completed a TPC test with Williams at Portimao - Will F1 ever have a female driver? And if so, when?

nbb2hkf5f86d ago

Women’s in F1 is a delicate topic so I will try to not offend anyone here. But the reality is not a single women until now has been capable of finishing a season in a decent way.

ronswenson10d ago

Sure there will be females driving.. it’s a frustratingly slow process to get there though. They need the backing and solid results, F3, F2 .. but there is no other reason why not… then there could be a female world champion .. that would be great to see. Drawback for men and women is that it will be even harder to get one of the 20 odd seats!

alx.mat.cruz10d ago

I'm curious of the time she set... if she ran within the 107% time for the track, she deserves every opportunity to at least do an FP1 session to gain experience... not for publicity but for opportunity and evaluation... baby steps first before you walk...

What are your thoughts on Esteban Ocon reportedly losing his Haas seat?

user9acfa9bb5d ago

He only got those points in the last race because colapinto took out 3 cars that were in the points. He would’ve had zero again, nice try … you still suck

♥ 1

ronswenson7d ago

Well … Ocon himself said: “I’m one of the best out there” but then he is in full blown panic as he’s been told he won’t drive for the team next year. Interesting how drivers can be mediocre sometimes for years, but when their seat is under threat the start pulling rabbits out of their hats and performance 🤷‍♂️

mussercraig10d ago

Ocon and Ollie are both great drivers. I think Ollie is more likeable and the younger rookie drivers fair better with the newer/younger age demographic that is getting into the sport. Plus Ocon isn't going to deliver what it will take to get Haas higher up the back of the field

Red Bull have confirmed Isack Hadjar for the 2027 F1 season 🚨 Give us your instant reaction!

nbb2hkf5f86d ago

Hadjar not only managed a podium after securing his seat for next season but was at some point ready to take on Versttapen but decided otherwise. It shows that one Hadjar has a very strong confidence in him and that he is smart… Great driver in the making..

Did Yuki Tsunoda do enough in his Racing Bulls stint to deserve a return to F1?

mussercraig10d ago

Yuki is one of the Honda Incubator kids so I'm surprised he's not making more moves towards Japan or the American circuits

deathshood112d ago

Don't think Yuki has ever been given a fair go his maturity as a driver has grown so well but his opportunities never seemed to be forfilled I would like very much to see him back on the grid but I honestly think that Red Bull have sent another driver to the bin

kyle.archer12d ago

No - Yuki Tsunoda was too far off Arvid Lindblad's pace to suggest he should return to the F1 grid in 2027, especially with the spate of young drivers waiting for their chances

Isack Hadjar will return in Baku - How do you rate Liam Lawson's three-round spell standing in at Red Bull?

mprjmachin11d ago

Solid 7/10. It would have been an 8 if he'd kept his nose clean at Monza. His overtaking is really strong but the car damage he sometimes incurs being aggressive doesn't help him. Solid.

deathshood112d ago

Now Red Bull have seen the true Liam Lawson talent. He should be more respected but just like gassy he won't be

♥ 1

ronswenson12d ago

He redeemed himself, did well, and without a doubt would get even better with more time in the RB22, however up until his injury hadjar had been doing well too so shouldn’t be dropped… yet! Pressure is now on him to keep performing because red bull know where to go if he falter next year

Is it fair for an F1 driver to say a car doesn't 'suit' their style?

Lando Norris doesn't think so

mussercraig10d ago

Is this about Max's comment that the cars are more numb to driver response??

deathshood112d ago

Of course it's the drivers job to tame the car,or why else do they get paid massive contracts. For me if the car is difficult then the challenge is more rewarding., Lewis has had challenging cars and made results. To me that's the sign of a true driver whatever the catagory

skshaggis13d ago

No. An f1 driver is supposed to be one of the best drivers in the world, if a car is difficult to drive the driver would find a way to wring the neck out of it and extract every ounce of performance. Eg: Max Verstappen, Charles LeClerc, Lando Norris. That's what they're paid for!

Where would Kimi Antonelli winning the 2026 title rank among F1's greatest achievements?

He could become just the fourth driver ever to win it in his second season

Just 32 points separated Antonelli and Hamilton after Silverstone - what has gone so wrong for Hamilton?

There has been five races since the British GP 👀

dereksacre11d ago

They wanted a top class driver ,got the best then give him no support whatsoever what prats

tony.adepegba15d ago

Ferrari's package seems to have gone from since the second half of the season. This has affected both drivers.

kyle.archer15d ago

Ferrari failed to maintain Lewis Hamilton's momentum after punishing Kimi Antonelli's reliability failure at Silverstone. Yet even if the Scuderia had delivered a more polished performance over the past five rounds, Antonelli and Mercedes have proven that they are a class above this year.

Is F1 oversaturating the sport with too many races next season and asking too much of its drivers and teams?

The 2027 season will feature a total of 34 races, including sprints!

czechfog183615d ago

From a competition standpoint, the sprints are useless. They keep the crowds attending the race weekends amused and the promoters sell more Friday and Saturday tickets, so they may become the new normal. But will there be 24 race weekends in 2027? Too soon to tell.

david.comerford16d ago

Fans always have the choice not to watch, it's the team personnel I feel most sorry for, particularly the smaller teams who can't really rotate staff

ronswenson17d ago

17 would be better, one race every 20 days, more time to reset for drivers, more time to get things sorted for teams, and time for fans to breath and work up to it and get excited.

After the 2027 F1 calendar announcement, we asked our writers to create their DREAM schedule. How do you think we did? 📅

I love the fact that you have Indianapolis back and NO Miami or Las Vegas. But Kyalami does not have a Grade 1 track any longer and I seriously doubt they can do all the infrastructure needed to get on the calendar. I do like seeing Turkey and Sepang on there.

Max Verstappen overtakes 100 drivers in 14 laps! What did you think of the Max vs 100 event?

rebecca.braybrook18d ago

I really enjoyed watching it! Had a good giggle at him getting past as many drivers as he did so quickly! Also really enjoyed the commentary! Do think it needed to be a harder challenge though and the desperate rule changes to make it last longer showed they didn’t expect him to complete the task as fast as he did!

david.comerford18d ago

Enjoyed it more than I thought to be honest. I think the coverage was quite well done and the last few laps were a good laugh. Wonder what they'll come up with next

So what happens in 2027? There will be a slight adjustment in the power split and there will be significant aero changes designed to reduce the downforce slightly, The bib area and the plank will become shorter and we may see high rakes back. 2027 may be a McLaren year.

mussercraig10d ago

Please elaborate.. because of the cars performance on street tracks or historically how Maclaren has performed under those conditions?? Does it favor the 26 Maclaren in some way?

Max Verstappen's 100 vs 1 karting event should serve up some entertainment with there being no Grand Prix this weekend. I think beating 100 other drivers will be difficult, even with someone of the Dutchman's talents, but I'm keen to hear everyone else's thoughts on the event 🤔

Is this the best four-driver line-up Red Bull have EVER had across their two teams?

tyler.rowlinson20d ago

I’m trying to find a way to get Vettel and Webber in the argument, but I don’t think Racing Bulls/AlphaTauri/Toro Rosso have had a better line-up than they do now, or at least, their past line-ups with Seb and Mark at Red Bull are not better than today’s

ahambly2320d ago

I'd argue 2021 was probably the Red Bull stable's peak. Perez was nowhere near Verstappen, but he had quite a fairly strong debut year. Gasly was brilliant for AlphaTauri that year too, and Tsunoda impressed during his rookie F1 term.

david.comerford20d ago

I would probably just about take Verstappen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Kvyat (2016/17) over this. Also think Vettel, Webber, Ricciardo, Vergne (2012/13) is up there

With George Russell all but giving up on the 2026 title, do you think he has any chance of beating Kimi Antonelli next year?

rebecca.braybrook17d ago

I can understand why it feels like it's all but lost for George, but we were in a very similar scenario last year too! It will be interesting to see if Mercedes will remain the team to catch next season or if McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull can challenge them!

sousi.brown18d ago

George Russell is one of those drivers who is competent if the car is good. He's not, however, good enough to outperform the car. As long as there's someone of champion caliber in a Mercedes or any other car as fast or faster, Russell will have no chance for a championship win.

Why do you think Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda have been 'immediately competitive' in their stand-in roles? 🤔

shaymlessevents20d ago

That is such a back handed insult to Yuki and Liam. Max just cant hack it that his talent is fading

kyle.archer24d ago

Max Verstappen is right to a degree, in that F1's 2026 regulations have made the cars easier to drive than in the ground-effect era. But drivers can clearly still make a difference, as Kimi Antonelli is proving against George Russell and Lando Norris is proving against Oscar Piastri. If your driving style doesn't work for the rules, you will be punished.

ronswenson24d ago

There is clearly an issue with the RB cars, if their PU is better than everyone else and batteries are the same then clearly it’s todo with aero and setup, chassie. Verstappen hasn’t suddenly forgot how to drive, in a decent car most drivers would be right up there, they are all very good.

What's the BIGGEST change Ferrari need to make before 2027 to win the world championship? 🐎

pgmexp18d ago

Ferrari lacks the ability to strategically compete at the front. At Monza the left Hamilton out for 50 laps on mediums even though there was vsc where most teams pitted their front runners. 50 laps on hards makes sense, did they forget what compound Hamilton was on? Or were they just not interested in maximising his points. He could easily of got a podium.

jcartie201519d ago

Communication. They can then build a competent strategy for the season and race by race operations for each driver/team

ronswenson20d ago

Clearly a car issue and secondly management communication issue… both leclerc and Hamilton are good drivers that’s not where the problem is
