Charles Leclerc tops FP2 after also being fastest in the first practice session! Are Ferrari the team to beat this weekend?

kyle.archer1h ago

A lot more remains to be seen, but a promising FP2 for Liam Lawson nonetheless

Ferrari definitely look strong with their new upgrades but it has been tight at the top! Not sure who I'm backing yet!

Albon has finally set his first lap time of the weekend, although he finds himself still in P19, just ahead of his teammate and the two Cadillacs

The Williams looks a real handful (and that is putting it mildly) for Alex Albon and the confidence-sapped Carlos Sainz

Fun fact! There were 79 track limit violations during FP1! Things should be a little cleaner during this second session, but how much of an issue will it become in qualifying? 🤔

kyle.archer2h ago

Fun fact? Track limits are always an issue, especially through Turn 19, at COTA. What are the odds on Andrea Kimi Antonelli losing multiple laps during qualifying for track limit offences?

The team principal press conference is currently underway. Adrian Newey has confirmed he remains confident in Honda's 2027 engine, whilst sharing that Lawrence Stroll's recent trip to Suzuka was part of a quarterly visit with the engine supplier. But do you think they can turn it around next year?

kyle.archer2h ago

The Aston Martin-Honda project will not 'turn around' from what many were predicting ahead of the 2026 season, given how far adrift they have proven to be after being tipped to fight at the front. But anything other than Aston Martin being a leading midfield outfit in 2027 would be a disaster (again).

Charles Leclerc tops the first hour of practice in Austin 💪 What was your biggest takeaway from that session? 🤔

rebecca.braybrook5h ago

Track limits were interesting during the session, but it is only FP1. A really disappointing showing from Williams in that practice too!

The biggest story ahead of this weekend is that Kimi Antonelli COULD be crowned World Champion here in Austin 👀

How do you rate Ferrari's chances of replicating their 2024 heroics and securing another one-two at the United States GP this weekend?

kyle.archer17h ago

At this rate, Ferrari are already looking at 2027 for their next one-two Grand Prix finish

ahambly231d ago

The SF-26 should be pretty hooked up in sectors one and three, so if Hamilton and Leclerc have enough efficiency on that long back straight, I can't see why a one-two for them would be off the cards. It will be tough, mind.

When you see the Circuit of the Americas, what's the FIRST F1 moment that comes to mind? 💭

ahambly232d ago

Can't remember what year it was from but that Leclerc lap under the setting sun. The edit with the Skyfall theme song over it was cinema

This is the same thing that popped into my head 😂 feels like it’s a video that will still be looked back on in like 10/20 years

Love the one of these with the Red Bull in Brazil

kyle.archer2d ago

Lewis Hamilton hunting down Sebastian Vettel and making THAT close-call overtake to win the first United States GP at COTA in 2012

david.comerford2d ago

This would be mine too. The other would be cap-gate between Hamilton and Rosberg in 2015. That was a great race

Let's hear your podium prediction for the United States Grand Prix this weekend!

Charles, Kimi and Max.

george.patten2d ago

Max to win, Antonelli second and Hadjar third. Another Russell retirement on the cards I think

sophiaf55042d ago

I think Antonelli will go full throttle, first, or track limits, really try and clinch that title. Second Verstappen, unless Kimi gets a penalty, and then Leclerc, for sure.
