Keely Hodgkinson ends 2026 in style šŸ”„Rate her season out of 10

Will we see more of these speed suits in the future? šŸ‘€

matthew.johns15d ago

I’d say 8! Solid and still one of the fastest at 800m, but has had a few injury setbacks and Werro means she is no longer the very best!

sherlock_b15d ago

It’s 9/10 for me. Just been remembering our first 800m Olympic gold medalist 1964 Ann Packer (yes I watched on TV); Dame Kelly Holmes 2004 and Keely Hodgkinson 2024. Keely is standing on the shoulders of giants. And yes @rebecca.braybrook she looks amazing.

♥ 1

george.patten16d ago

It sounds harsh but I’d give her a 6. Fair argument to be made she’s the third fastest in the world now at 800. Will need to find another gear or two to move ahead of Werro and Bol

Josh Kerr has fired a warning message to Jakob Ingebrigtsen ahead of Sunday's 1500m final šŸ‘€Who comes out on top and why?

callum_boyle22d ago

I’m back Jakob. Athletics needs more figures like him and he is definitely in Josh Kerr’s head

♥ 1

george.patten22d ago

Ingebritsen takes it for me. Looked class in the 5,000

What stood out for you on day one of the World Athletics Ultimate Championship?!

george.patten23d ago

That the Hammer throw was a bit of a mess šŸ˜‚ Not a great advert for the sport to have the best in the world only get two attempts and fault on both

jonathan.gorrie23d ago

Was fun! Shame Duplantis couldn’t get the world record

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

What's YOUR biggest takeaway from the action on Day 2 of the Diamond League Final?!

george.patten27d ago

El Bakali has work to do if he wants to keep up with Godana. Looks like the Ethiopian has his number

jonathan.gorrie28d ago

The men’s 200m was nowhere close to being a contest then

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

What were your thoughts on Day 1 of the Diamond League Final? Who impressed you most?

GB's highest finish came from Amy Hunt who came 3rd in the 200m!

george.patten30d ago

Alfred was class as usual. Karalis continues to prove he’s the only real challenger to Mondo

♥ 1

freddie30d ago

Shame about Duplantis pulling out, was looking forward to his battle with Karalis. Hunt did well and got her season best so couldn’t really have done much more! Myers was probs the biggest story tho, that late surge was incredible in the 1500!

32 EVENTS. 32 CHAMPIONS. What are you most looking forward to in the Diamond League Final? šŸ’Ž

dantowen8195131d ago

The 1500 metre! One of the most open fields in the sport at the moment

matthew.johns31d ago

The men’s Pole Vault is always an interesting one, but also looking forward to the women’s sprint events and 800m!

freddie32d ago

Tough one as there’s so many good ones! Either Duplantis for me as he actually has some challenge with Karalis now, or the 800m as it’s always stacked. Werro vs Femke will be interesting as ever - I’d imagine @jackgallagher is backing the latter? šŸ‘€

Audrey Werro comes out on top in a stacked Women's 800m race - what did you make of that dramatic race?

Great Britain's Georgia Hunter Bell came in third šŸ„‰

callum_boyle38d ago

Werro will break the record before Keely, no doubt. She’s the top star in 800m. GHB did well to place though as that was a tough field

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

The 800m field is STACKED! What are your expectations for this race? šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

jonathan.gorrie38d ago

Femke to win!!

ishaan.bhattacharya38d ago

Femke is class! Gotta grab the Gold with both hands (or feet)

matthew.johns38d ago

Shame Hodgkinson isn’t competing, but still think Britain have a real hope in Hunter Bell. However, Werro will take some beating if she runs anything like she did at the European Championships and Bol is obviously a big threat too.

Here is our top 10 Great British track and field athletes of all time. But who makes your top 10 and why?

Any big names missing?

jackgallagher39d ago

Dina deserves to be in there for me. The medals prove it

george.patten39d ago

Think Jonathan Edwards should be on here - Don’t have a problem with the top three though

harveyleonard9939d ago

There’s a case for Greg Rutherford. Not a sport that gets the same shine as others but one of only five to do the Grand Slam of Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth titles in one event

Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen are reportedly set to face each other in the 1500m at the World Athletics Ultimate ChampionshipsĀ  in September. Who wins and why?

The stacked line up will also feature Olympic champion Cole Hocker and world champion Issac Nader šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

callum_boyle41d ago

I don’t think either of these will win but if I was backing anyone I’d say Josh Kerr as he’s more acclimatised to the shorter distances. Jakob is still not fully up to speed either

♥ 1

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

Jakob Ingebrigsten made his return at Diamond League on Sunday - do you back the Norwegian to win in Zurich?

He could only manage 4th in the 1500m, but he says he's ready to get back to winning ways šŸ’Ŗ

callum_boyle41d ago

1500m is a shorter distance to what he is used to so I’m not surprised he finished fourth as the pacing is entirely different. Over 500m/10,000m he’s unstoppable but it’s good for him to test himself

eoin41d ago

Seems foolisj to bet against him. Looking relaced and confident

How do you rate Georgia Hunter-Bell's chances of winning all four major titles this year?

Has her season gone under the radar?

callum_boyle48d ago

Very good. I think she’s been one of the most consistent GB athletes some time. She doesn’t get as much air time because she’s a lot more reserved but really deserves her flowers

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

Now that the European Championships is over, what was your highlight of the competition and why?

So many great moments to choose from šŸ˜…

jackgallagher48d ago

Only one answer: KATE O'CONNOR GOLD šŸ‡®šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡®šŸ‡Ŗ

jamesshearman2348d ago

Ingebrigsten in the 5,000 metres was my favourite individual performance

freddie48d ago

All the relays were the highlights for me! Such exciting events and GB dominated

GB wins the 4x100m relay and Amy Hunt wins her fourth gold medal! Where does she rank among the country's best athletes? 🤩

No athlete has ever won four golds in one Euros before!

jackgallagher49d ago

Top 3! Fantastic performances, I think this will be the pinnacle of her career

jamesshearman2349d ago

Besides Joe Root I’m struggling to think of a better British sportsperson right now

freddie49d ago

Nah she’s actually the goattttttt! What a performance, Team GB are cooking!

Keely Hodgkinson has to settle for silver in the 800m women's final as Audrey Werro takes gold. What is your reaction to that race?

Werro was allowed to race after her appeal over her fall in the semi-finals was successful

jackgallagher51d ago

Werro has gone to another level now, I can't see Keely winning many major events from here on out

callum_boyle51d ago

If I was Keely I’d be pretty frustrated. The footage yesterday showed that Werro fell over herself and not through obstruction. Best athlete won on the day, but should she have been there in the first place?

tony.adepegba51d ago

Werro was the better athlete on the night. This is definitely a rivalry to push Keely to another level.

Amy Hunt beats rival Dina Asher-Smith to the gold medal in the women's 200m final! How do you rate her chances of securing four golds at the Championships šŸ‘€

tony.adepegba51d ago

Good, I wasn't sure of Amy's prospect of winning gold at both 100 and 200. I'm glad to be proven wrong.

♥ 1

callum_boyle52d ago

That was the best race of the Champs so far! Was on the edge of my seat for the entire race and watching her and Dina go to war was class. I hope she can get all four golds but as it’s a relay it’s kind of out of her hands. Grantham on the map again! šŸ„‡

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

Favourite for the 800m Audrey Werro falls in the final 100m of her semi-final 😯 What did you make of the incident?

callum_boyle52d ago

I think she clips herself now looking at the footage a few times. It’ll be a shame to not have her in the final but what an opportunity for Keely. Jemma Reekie in the final too which is great to see

šŸ™‚Add a comment…Open Discussion

What are your thoughts on some athletes being given a bye straight through to the semi-final?

Amy Hunt won her 200m semi-final after she was one of the athletes to benefit from the bye

dantowen8195152d ago

Yeah I don’t agree with this. I imagine a lot of the competitors would want every single chance to fine-tune themselves in a competitive setting as well

jamesshearman2352d ago

It’s nonsense. Why should they have an advantage over the other athletes?

callum_boyle53d ago

I agree with Greg. They already have a head start by being one of the best in Europe and should compete with everyone else. I feel bad for those who buy tickets and then don’t get to see them because of the fact they get a bye too

Romell Glave and Jeremiah Azu picked up gold and silver for GB in the 100m sprint, but where do they rank among the world’s best? šŸ‘€

callum_boyle54d ago

Glave’s power and stride length is pretty remarkable considering how much smaller he was compared to the rest on the track. He got out of the blocks perfectly and was definitely good value

freddie54d ago

Think Glave will be good and compete, although I do think he stands no chance if Lyles is in the race

♥ 1

jackgallagher54d ago

Glave only won because Jacobs got injured. I don't think they can compete with the best to be honest

What must change to get more fans attending the European Championships?

freddie54d ago

Can’t exactly take your family there on Ā£150 a ticket… do better

dantowen8195154d ago

I think it needs to be advertised better! A lot of people I speak to haven’t even heard of the Diamond League for example

george.patten54d ago

Cheaper tickets are a must. Also needs to be promoted better. You could very easily live in the UK and not know this event is taking place. That’s not good enough

After finally winning her first individual gold medal in the 100m race at the European Championships, is this the start of an era of dominance for Amy Hunt? šŸ¤”

jamesshearman2354d ago

She could dominate European athletics but she’s miles off the world’s best

dantowen8195155d ago

Hope so! It feels inevitable she’ll be at the top by the time the next olympics comes around

callum_boyle55d ago

The springboard she needed after being the bridesmaid for so long with silver medals. Feels even more special watching this last night as she’s from my hometown. Putting Grantham on the map! Congrats Amy

Jakob Ingebrigtsen returned in style after a year out with a brilliant sprint finish to take gold in the 5000m at the European Championships šŸ”„How does this compare to his previous victories?

jamesshearman2354d ago

I was worried for a second when he was boxed in but like all the great champions he found a way to win šŸ‘ šŸ„‡

dantowen8195155d ago

Class is permanent, as they say! The 5000 metre is one of the most exciting parts of athletics right now, having Jakob back at his best will only add to that

jameslloyd14.jl55d ago

Honestly one of his most impressive wins. Six weeks of training after a year out… the man is just ridiculous

14 years since that famous Super Saturday at the 2012 Olympics. Which gold medal was the best that night?

matthew.johns61d ago

Ennis for me, she had all the pressure of being the poster girl for the London Olympics and she handled it so well! Plus she started off the athletics golds on Super Saturday!

jamesshearman2361d ago

I was just leaving the basketball at the O2 and hundreds surrounded a TV in one of the restaurants to watch Mo - arguably Britain’s greatest athlete šŸ‘ šŸ‘‘

charlesjones61d ago

Rutherford for me. Would’ve been a bit of a letdown if Ennis and Farah didn’t win as they were touted as gold hopefuls for years. Rutherford seemed like a bit of a shock

Jakob Ingebrigtsen is BACK! What are your expectations for him racing in the 5000m at the European Champs?

dantowen8195168d ago

I’d imagine Josh Kerr will be trying to rack up a few more wins before his arch enemy is back at his best šŸ˜‚

jamie.brown8269d ago

Terrible news for Eilish McColgan! How do you think Team Scotland will perform?

jamie.brown8269d ago

A new world record for Josh Kerr šŸ”„ What should be his next goal?

dancoombs78d ago

I don’t know about grander goals but the thing with athletes and personals bests are to keep setting new ones, so try and break this record in the future too

callum_boyle78d ago

Fairs Josh, I said you wouldn’t do it but you’ve smashed it! Definitely allows him to focus on just taking gold at the Commonwealth Games but I’d like to see him dominate the track

ā±ļø What time do you PREDICT Josh Kerr will run in his MILE world record attempt this weekend...

callum_boyle82d ago

I think he’ll just miss out at the end. I’m going to say 3:45 is what he’ll run

jamie.brown8282d ago

Not quite sure he has the top end speed to really to beat the record, but I’m so intrigued to see how close he can get!

jamie.brown8295d ago

Let’s not be silly now…

callum_boyle95d ago

Certainly up there for my pick although I’d be interested to see how he’d fare without the assistance of a tailwind as that is always going to give you a sprint in your step

Bit disappointed for the crowd but for herself personally, if she has goals she wants to obtain then she knows her body best. Pressure will be on to perform
