Jakob Ingebrigtsen returned in style after a year out with a brilliant sprint finish to take gold in the 5000m at the European Championships 🔥How does this compare to his previous victories?

I was worried for a second when he was boxed in but like all the great champions he found a way to win 👏 🥇

Class is permanent, as they say! The 5000 metre is one of the most exciting parts of athletics right now, having Jakob back at his best will only add to that

Honestly one of his most impressive wins. Six weeks of training after a year out… the man is just ridiculous

A year out and won a gold medal. Unbelievable stuff.

Got to be up there, especially coming back from injury. The sport is better with characters like him at the top!

Just crazy! Out for 11 months and does that with little to no training! Superhuman 🦸

Superhuman effort. He's smug but then he's elite so he's allowed to be.

This guy and been there and done it. As we all know, especially at the top in sport, it’s gets a lot harder as you get older (although he is only 25). After all that time out, he is clearly still building up to peak fitness. Whether this is his best performance or not, I don’t know - but it must surely be among his most satisfying.

I think this is one of his best. After that 10th place finish in Tokyo and then a year out, watching him breeze past everyone on the final 100m was incredible. So good to have him back and I can’t wait to see what he does going forward
