Talk Burnley

chillout21d ago

Only came in for 20-odd minutes. Burnley were already behind. Got no service, so achieved little.

If I was a Burnley fan, watching Kyle Walker do absolutely nothing would really really really wind me up. Not the biggest problem of course, but why do they keep playing him?!

george.patten22d ago

Think we’ve seen before that this can happen. Championship is tough, if you’re in a bad place things can soon unravel.

matthew.johns22d ago

I knew things were bad at Burnley, but this is even worse than I imagined. They may still be able to fight for the play-offs come the end of the season, but that appears to be a long shot right now…

markmarston26d ago

Spot on…

george.patten26d ago

Did seem strange at the time. Maybe naive of me but I thought they were shoe ins for the playoffs when they went down. In big trouble now

markmarston48d ago

£30m at least… any other club would be getting that for a striker who scored 11 PL goals last season. Already got 3 in 2 this year. He’s worth £50m to Burnley tbh

callum_boyle49d ago

Like Nicky Hayen a lot. Was the manager of Brugge and got them playing some great football. Still don’t think this side has enough for promotion

freddie49d ago

Zian Flemming is too good for this level, will be so good to keep him! But not the best performed, showed fight tho at the end! 👏

To be fair, they can only get better I suppose…

Id be interested to hear from Burnley fans what they think about Alan Pace’s connection with Espanyol!

tom.procter61d ago

Not the best of summers but I feel like they’ll still be up there challenging, as they do. Probably finish in the play-offs though

freddie61d ago

I think play-offs surely? If not then it’s a failure

james.brooke61d ago

Pointless extension really

dantowen8195167d ago

I’m guessing it must be in excess of £10m given how much reports in Italy said Fiorentina were willing to pay

markmarston67d ago

Bags of talent but never delivered here… wonder how much we got?

markmarston68d ago

Seems a real coup… La Liga to the Championship 👏

dantowen8195174d ago

Is it too early to suggest there’s gonna be a Josh Cullen revival?

It is mental isn’t it!

dantowen8195179d ago

Nothing sums up the massive gap between English football and the other top European leagues than Leipzig - third in the Bundesliga - paying £30m for Esteve

markmarston81d ago

Can’t get my head round this… we could’ve got £20m for him surely? That would’ve helped our budget this summer

markmarston84d ago

Have a good feeling about Burnley this year….

I’m really excited to see how he sets up the attack. His Brugge side was relentless at times, especially the way they rattled 9 past Rangers in Europe last season

What does the team need tho? Feels like a little bit. Deffo need an Anthony replacement

Burnley is 1 or only five clubs to have won all four professional divisions of the English football pyramid. In 1888, Burnley’s William Tait scored the first ever hat-trick in league football history - against Bolton Wanderers. In 1883, Burnley became one of the first clubs to turn professional and Turf Moor was the first stadium visited by Royalty in 1886.

Great chance to lay down a marker against West Ham.

dantowen81951101d ago

A very good chance to get off to a flyer against a promotion rival! Norwich away will be tough

dantowen81951123d ago

That did seem strange to me! It’s not as if Parker has another job lined up

gorriejonathan127d ago

Only one man for the job

will.butcher127d ago

Without a doubt. Like many players, great in the champ but rubbish in prem
