Discuss: Viktor Gyokeres' performance for Arsenal against Napoli

Gyokeres ,is going backwards got to let him go ,had enough time now to prove himself .

Shit get rid

Without Gyokeres staying strong last season, with 21 goals we couldn't have won the league and getting to UEFA final. Thanks to Saka, Haverts and Odegaard injury. ..Arteta can't manage a star, remember Auba, Ozil, and the rest. ..stop criticising Gyok, he got less than 2 clear passes from the duo of Saka and Odegaard like they did last season. Envy.

Poorly performed. He(Victor K) confirmed that Why the coach not makes first choice forward
jackdrury3w ago
He just…. Doesn’t do anything
segunabey102w ago
Did he miss any chance created for him? ..God bless Tzolis

Poor
ronniek3703w ago
Not bad Only that he lucked suplies from his team mates

Bless you for saying the truth

I think it would be hard to judge him on one away champions league game but I think this just furthers the narrative that he works for some games and not for others. Don’t think he fits Arsenal but could see him still doing well somewhere else

Nothing new, really. A good squad option over a long season but he's never going to be the best in the world. Has his uses though

Hmmm, no Arsenal player can be a star under Arteta. Check the no of passes given him. Just 5...that's bad from the likes of selfish Odegaard and Saka.
matthew.johns3w ago
It just doesn’t seem to be working out for him at Arsenal, I’d take him back in a heartbeat at Coventry 😉
lee.connor3w ago
He’s a good grafter and a decent option but the team is nowher near as good without Havertz in that position. Still I think he’ll contribute and deserves a bit of slack as barely played before last night so always gunna be rusty.
martin.crawford3w ago
Folk want him to be a player that he isn’t. Because he hit Haaland numbers in Portugal, people demand that he hits Haaland numbers at Arsenal - but the reality of his role now is very different
dantowen819513w ago
If you could combine him and Havertz, you’d have an elite number 9 😂unfortunately Havertz just offers so much more to Arsenal
dantowen819513w ago
When you watch Havertz’s absolutely immaculate performance against Chelsea, it’s night and day
peter.lynch3w ago
Obviously not enough touches and shots but a striker is so much more than goals, very tough and lonely job up there, especially away to Napoli.
george.patten3w ago
He’s just not very good is he? Sure he’d do well elsewhere, but at a Champions League and Premier league chasing club, I don’t think so
dakir.thanveer3w ago
Arsenal should have gone all out for an elite striker this summer. Big opportunity missed, will come back to haunt them. Gyokeres can't deliver across the season on all fronts
chillout3w ago
I’m not sure Arteta’s tactics suit him to be honest - Gyokeres is very much an old fashioned centre forward and Arteta wants the strikers to be more fluid and dropping more deep. He is often isolated upfront - and I don’t think he is match-fit.
shamanth.jayaram3w ago
Exactly this. It’s a recruitment error. Deserves massive praise for 20+ goals last season, but he’s never going to be the first choice when someone like Havertz is there. I’m sure he’ll be a gone in one of the next two windows
majeedlytle3w ago
He had a great debut.👍
camerondesc13w ago
He is just not good enough. A shame really, as he came to Arsenal with such hype.
kilham.max3w ago
The guy simply isn’t good enough to be starting games regularly at the top level.
jameslloyd14.jl3w ago
Only three players to not have a shot – Raya, Konsa and… Gyokeres. Felt like a big game for him tonight but failed to deliver
