Herb doesn't need to retire. Its just the trend with all the internet professional regurgitation experts. Je did nothing wrong in the Poaton fight. Let it go. Poaton got this Hate Herb Dean train rolling. Name 3 better referees. Not 3 that you like better 3 with a better resume than Herb Dean. Who also seems( i dont know him) extremely nice.

Herb has made a lot of bad calls over the last few years. I would say Mark Goddard is the best and Herb has slipped to "not exceptional in any way". Yeah retirement is a good idea when this thread has enough support to be "a thing". That's a bad sign.

I’ve been following UFC since 97 sometimes when you notice patterns, opinions become facts. This ref must have some kind of side hustle going on or something much deeper! Many situations should have favored the other fighter within very obvious reasons. With Herb, Dean in the octagon it’s a game of Russian roulette.

I think Herb should have called the fight way sooner. He gave Alex many chances to get back into the fight. But also in Alex’s defense other judges should look at the fight and see what they think. Just my thoughts

I like Herb. I mean, it's not like he's Yamasaki. He's definitely one of the best refs out there. He's human, people get shit wrong sometimes and he definitely missed those shots to the back of Alex's head. It happens.

Herb is literally the ref that all the other currently working refs go to for reference when they have any questions regarding the practice. This sounds stupid

i think refing is really hard on one hand your the bad guy because you clearly called a fight where the guy "looked" ok or your dirt bag because you "called" fight when the fighter thought he had one more run , but the end result for the ref is that each fighter makes it out not only alive , but able to compete again if they want to

We need new refs full stop. Herb been doing it for decades and has got progressively worse. Hopefully he calls it a day before someone gets seriously hurt.

Yeah he should. By far the worst ref in MMA. He’s a complete liability. Even to the point now where fighters officially request that he doesn’t officiate their fights.

I'm not a fan of telling people to retire but I do think Herb should at least take a step back from refereeing as often as he does and from doing big, high-profile fights
