Interesting to hear Max Verstappen say that F1 should bring back loud V8s for the 'emotion' and the 'goosebumps'. How much do people value engine noise? For me, it only makes like a 5% difference

The sound is what got me hooked. In the beggining of the melbourne gp years, walking to the track with dad hearing the screaming engines from miles away going to support our hero Johnny Herbert!

No turbos make them loud again!

With so many street tracks inside cities, the noise could become an issue. LM wants to keep the street tracks. Turbos provide more power and they should also bring back the MGU-H, even if they have to allow teams to buy it!

Oh the sound.. most definitely has a place with fans, the sound of powerful engines have always been part of the aura in any motorsport

To be fair, everyone's abiding memory of their first race (assuming it was pre-2014) is the noise

F1 engines certainly sound the worst even on the series' own race weekends with support series. But F1 crowds are not the same as they once were when screaming V10s deafened those at the circuits. Nowadays, some want to be able to hold a conversation with those with them in the grandstands, and F1's newer audience members may not like being silenced by cars.
