West Ham’s World Cup winning trio of Moore, Hurst and Peters are three of the most influential players in the club’s history. Who would join them and why - Billy Bonds, Brooking, Di Canio, Noble, Rice ? Alvin Martin ? Julian Dicks ? Have your say.

Yes he is vey much the forgotten man! Had a great partnership with Brooking - and signed for just £5000, I think.

Devonshire definitely has to be there, why is he a forgotten man?

Billy Bonds…no explanation needed. ⚒️
chillout5d ago
Yeah - I think he ended up managing Millwall. He was one of my favourites.

Billy Bonds all day long. He IS West Ham and he's very sadly missed ❤️

Billy Bonds is an underrated shout! As a 90s child, I adore Di Canio. The Wimbledon goal is the best in PL history imo

It has to be BILLY BONDS our most ever capped player/captain/manager and he won 2 fa cups in 1975 and 1980

Hard not to say Moore but does Bonds rank above him? Clyde Best a hugely important figure too
chillout6d ago
Bonds was manager, of, course, too.

What about Bobby Zamora? Scored the winner in the play-off final which brought West Ham back to the Prem, played a massive role in the great escape and the fa cup final run!

Bobby Moore is everything that's good about West Ham. His Foundation has done great things in the community

I was actually at Upton Park in 1972 when we hosted Spurs. We won 2-0 with Clive Charles (John’s brother), Ade Coker and Clyde Best in the line-up. This was the first time in top flight English football that a club’s starting 11 included three black players - before even West Brom did it a good 6 years later with Cunningham, Batson and Regis. Happy memories.

Lionel Scaloni as a bad influence, cost them the FA Cup in 2005, booted it straight to Liverpool from a drop ball in the last seconds. Otherwise Moore, how can it not be?

Di Canio, maverick of a player! Most PL goals before Antonio and Bowen overtook him. On that note, have to include Bowen as well, winning goal in a European final and club captain.

Give me Jarrod Bowen please, he’s already ahead of Mark Noble in my humble opinion 👀 and Rice of course
jamie.theodosi6d ago
For my generation I’d say Noble. He’s the one I remember as the West Ham captain
markmarston6d ago
Over Bowen ?
markmarston6d ago
Bowen! Literally scored the winner in a European final. No one comes close since I’ve been alive.
dantowen819516d ago
Yeah, 100% agree on Bowen! Not many players can say they’ve won their club a European title!

Di Canio in the modern era but the correct answer is Bobby Moore.

Has to be Noble. Embodied the West Ham spirit, one-club man, impossible not to like, one of the best not to get an England cap

For me, the likes of John Charles and Clyde Best were influential players - role models for black players looking to break into football at the highest levels in the 60s and 70s.
