Micky van de Ven is here to stay! Where does he rank among the best defenders in the Premier League right now? 👀

Good player but not a great one. Think he’s a very strong option in a duo with a more commanding CB. Really good for Spurs to keep him as I think the Van Hecke partnership could be pretty exciting

The vibes are picking Up at spurs under de zerbi. But van de ven was one of the guilty parties during the last two seasons. If they end Up in the bottom half again, you cant call him a top player.

Big year needed from him after two poor seasons from Spurs. Think it has to be remembered that there has not been a nailed down back four for ages with all of the injuries we've had over the last year or so. Provide more stability alongside him with Van Hecke and could be a real positive

He’s top of the B-list but not yet in the A-list. At the moment, his physical qualities are covering up weaknesses in his game But he’s young enough to fix those weaknesses
dale.odonnell1mo ago
Extremely overrated on the basis of being fast. Good centre-back but not a top one.
freddie1mo ago
I like him a lot but have one issue: He’s reactive not proactive! It’s VVD top, Gabriel, Saliba, Guehi then MVD probs
tom.procter1mo ago
Good defender on his day. But that everyone focuses on his pace perhaps tells its own story
peter.lynch1mo ago
He might not even start this season which is wild! Pace is a major bonus but his injury record is a nightmare, so a bit of a strange one really
david.comerford1mo ago
I would probably put him in the lower second tier or upper third. Good player but not a great one
jackdrury1mo ago
Not very high, not even sure he starts with JPVH and Senesi
paddy1mo ago
Nowhere near the class of van Dijk.
seanfisher1mo ago
Is he even going to start for Spurs this season? 👀
george.patten1mo ago
He’s a good option but nowhere near ‘elite’
aaditya.krishnamurthy1mo ago
A little surprising, I thought he was gone for sure… he’s not been that good to justify getting to stay, and with Romero gone they need more defensive reinforcement
jameslloyd14.jl1mo ago
Not in the top 10, overrated and comes across as a bit of a bad egg too. Here for the inevitable falling out with De Zerbi
dancoombs1mo ago
I wouldn’t even put him top 20 after last years performances

Spot on
martin.crawford1mo ago
I think he’ll prove himself this season after such an unstable year. He genuinely is one of the best
kyle.archer1mo ago
If you were slotting Van de Ven in a tiers list, he'd be a B-tier at best. He's got pace, but it's not elite.
jonny1mo ago
I’ve always thought he would be a great left sided cb in a back 3, but I don’t think he suits De Zerbi at all. Should have cashed in because Senesi and Van Hecke surely start!
dakir.thanveer1mo ago
Really wanted him at Liverpool to eventually take the baton from Van Dijk! Big news for Spurs
eoin1mo ago
Dont trust him to succeed van dijj
will.butcher1mo ago
Big coup for Spurs. Can’t imagine he would have signed a new deal had RDZ said no to Spurs, or made the signings they’ve made this summer
charlesjones1mo ago
He’s one of the worst not one of the best. Overrated
josh.barker1mo ago
Agreed, pace carries him so much
chillout1mo ago
He is clearly fast and vital to De Zerbi’s defensive line-up. His stock is a lot higher than Tottenham’s at the moment and, in my view, up there with van Dijk.
caleb.sage1mo ago
No, no, no! One-v-one defending isn’t good enough to be mentioned alongside Van Dijk. You can get past Van de Ven, unlike Van Dijk. Fortunely for him, though, he has the pace to recover.
