Spurs summer spending was well-documented but looking back now, was the money well spent? Where would you have spent instead?

All good players, none of them great. Don’t know why they didn’t look outside the Premier League. They lack goals so badly
james.brooke6d ago
Feels similar to the window where they sold Bale and reinvested it in Soldado etc. It’s a Spurs thing 🤷Marmoush on a free though… are you sure about that?

Needed a forward, failed. Tonali was a huge risk at that price and so was Fernandes to be fair, given he was part of a relegated outfit. Savio also an odd one. When you look, they spent a huge some without adding a single world class player.

Part of two relegated outfits Fernandes, going for the hat trick this year

£85m on Fernandes is genuinely bewildering. All that money and not a proper out and out striker.

Needed to sign a striker. Vast majority of the signings were from other Premier League clubs as well, not sure why they didn’t cast the net further afield. So many talents out there for a fraction of these prices

Could end up going 0/10, but these are good players who should not be anywhere near the relegation zone. Buck stops at the manager, but they have overpaid.

They didn't need Fernandes and Tonali. They desperately needed a centre forward. Marmoush isn't that man. He's more versatile and as good as he is there's a reason he wasn't trusted to back Haaland up at City.

Spurs appear to have just thrown money at it and not really thoight about what they actually need. Easy to say in hindsight though!
dakir.thanveer6d ago
Said this before but they made a huge mistake going all in on De Zerbi. Backing him was fine, spending big was fine but it feels like they spend biggg on players De Zerbi demanded
will.butcher6d ago
Not one of those players is worth the fee paid. Van Hecke is a £15m defender at best
callum_boyle6d ago
Spending that much on Savio and not buying a striker sums that club up perfectly
chillout6d ago
Given where they are in the league and what they have spent, it looks like a complete waste of money at the moment.

They spent the money on the right positions, but massively overpaid for their signings - you can’t tell me there wasn’t better value for money out there than Savinho and Tonali
markmarston6d ago
£185m for Tonali and Savio. Mental.
dantowen819516d ago
They essentially did the Saudi think where selling clubs add more millions onto the price tag cause they know Spurs/Saudi clubs are silly enough to pay it
markmarston6d ago
Savio signing still baffles me
markmarston6d ago
City are the kings of selling
markmarston6d ago
They badly needed a striker - would’ve put £100m down for Kroupi
peter.lynch6d ago
I honestly thought the free signings would be superb… and they still might be with time. But £100m on Tonali… deary me 😬
