❌ Newcastle's move for Pierre Emile Hojberg is OFF after he rejected their proposal. Why are the Magpies failing to convince any of their targets to join? 🤷♂️

This is a blessing! No one rates Hojbjerg higher than Hojbjerg himself

I completely understand why Newcastle's downfall is funny to those who don't support the club but if anyone thinks this is rough, it's been so much worse before 😂
markmarston1mo ago
Yeah this is absolutely nothing… I remember when you struggled to pay £500k for Hamza Choudhury’s loan fee!

One positive for Newcastle is that they have emerged as a promising place for young players to improve... unfortunately that comes with a 'stepping stone' reputation, but they have brought in some exciting talents from Europe in the last decade

Good point this

Newcastle's recruitment team seem to have great talent ID, but they just can't seem to sell the project to players... Is it a manager thing? Howe wasn't a huge pull and neither is Jaissle I suppose

Turned down by Hojbjerg has to be a low point

Dearie me. Absolutely shambolic. So, so embarassing. Maybe should try a swap deal with palace!

I think it’s because the whole media spin, and rightly so, is that the club is in a huge transition period and could actually go down. Doesn’t feel particularly inspiring for the top players
tom.procter1mo ago
I think some might foresee more struggles and uncertainty and don’t want to be a part of it until things start to look more promising again
david.comerford1mo ago
I think it's a snowball effect. Players must start to wonder why nobody else wants to go there

A 31-year-old Hojbjerg sounds so uninspiring anyway, but maybe Chelsea will take him! On a serious note, I worry for Newcastle this season.

I mean, I’m not sure I’d want to move me and my family from Marseille to Newcastle either 😂😂 considering Hojberg has already spent a long time in England, he might just want something different

A lucky escape I think! Højbjerg is not a good footballer

The issues going on at Newcastle right now are very public and this appears to be impacting the players they are trying to sign. I think it is going to be a tough season ahead for The Magpies!

Can’t look at a club that’s sold Gordon, Bruno and Tonali - as well as their manager going - and be convinced it’s going in the right direction. Even if you’re PEH

And yet we're still told year in and year out that Newcastle are a massive football club. Said it for years having a big stadium doesn't constitute being a big club. They're a one club city so they should fill that stadium.

The Newcastle project is lost

Not sure why anyone with a viable alternative would go to NUFC at the moment.
james.brooke1mo ago
Don’t think anyone will be losing any sleep over this, but strange to reject the move. Think with things like this it’s sometimes a domino effect. Players see other players rejecting so maybe think something isnt right there
callum_boyle1mo ago
I just don’t think there is any real ambition at all from the club. All the talismen have gone, it’s a club that has gotten champions league football a couple of times and a cup but nothing since been. Just doesn’t feel like a project
amirmir1mo ago
People are going to diss Newcastle as a club and their size, I feel they are big enough to attract big names. But their location will always be a killer!

Great city to be fair
