Who do you think were the ultimate winners and losers in the LIV saga ?

getjeffrey1mo ago

There should be no punishment. LIV forced changes at the PGA, including a lot more prize money. Only old White farts like Chamblee wants to dole out punishments anymore. He's still pissed at the fact that his good ole boy's club had to modernize, to some extent. He'd perfer it was still 1945.

Was gonna say Rahm due to how much he pushed for it… but then see his bank account 🤑

It’s obviously a disgusting amount of money, but as someone who spoke so much about the history of the game, I think Rahm will regret his decision in the years to come. Already incredibly wealthy and hasn’t looked like winning a single major since making the jump

I think its the fans who lost out on this whole debacle. All these tournaments we didnt get to see the best competing week in and week out

Are the Saudi’s planning a new format or are they leaving Golf completely?

jordan.harris1mo ago

I’m sure they’re planning their next move behind the scenes. They also have a decent amount of involvement in the women’s game so wouldn’t be surprised if they focus there

They're all winners... Very, very wealthy winners... 🤑

PIF lost out. Golf fans lost out.

antonymmartin841mo ago

Biggest winners are the PGA Tour players who now earn significantly more money than they did before due to increased purses since LIV’s inceptions. Biggest losers are golf fans who have been deprived of seeing the best players in the world compete against each other outside of the majors over the past 4 years.

Winners: Those who decided not to abdanon ship in the name of sportswashing Losers: The PIF. Another one of their major projects failing to deliver and proof that money doesn’t buy success

Rory was rumoured to have been offered $850m to sign on.

Winners are the old guard. Can’t blame Poulter, Bland, Westwood etc for chasing the money. I’d probably put Bryson in the winners category too. Losers: Rahm, Cam Smith, Brooks, Phil Mickelson and just about every youngster that joined like LaSasso and even McKibbin

chillout1mo ago

And Greg Norman ? Did OK financially, but his leadership in golf is probably in tatters ?

jamesshearman231mo ago

Two obvious winners to me are Joaquin Niemann and Talor Gooch - two players who have earned more than $60m in prize money after not doing much on the PGA Tour

johnverrall111mo ago

Niemann was also talked up into being some sort of superstar but has consistently failed at majors.

jordan.harris1mo ago

Losers are the PIF thankfully. Saudi thought they could buy their seat at the top table like they have in several other sports. While the PGA Tour are not exactly the good guys, it is good to see that the PIF have failed in their mission

chillout1mo ago

Some players like Rahm clearly made out like bandits. The game of golf ultimately lost, I think. In the end, the PGA were strengthened by all this.

johnverrall111mo ago

Hard to paint Rahm as a winner now, despite the huge earnings he made initially. His basically torpedoed his career and now appears desperate for a route out
