What is Todd Boehly's Chelsea legacy? 🤔

philchristie19551w ago

Not good. Wanted to be seen as the main man without any experience. Saw a model in Brighton that he tried to emulate but the decision making let him down badly. At least we now have a single leader so decisions aren't always contested which leads to issues

smifferz812w ago

Todd Boehly would've been better off buying out Clearlake. I wouldn't have minded that. Egbhali hasn't covered himself in glory at all. Don't trust that man. Todd tried to do right by the fans and was undermined by Egbhali and co at every turn..

olusegunjoshua192w ago

If his legacy of all star are Disasi, Gittens, Hato, Guiu etc then he's not good in football administration.

cliffsparks2w ago

A bad mistake .. I wish he had staid, he had been given bad advise from his sporting directors .. he had just turned a corner Thankyou for All you done

patrickwalton842w ago

No Twickenham either because too far we have to stay at Stamford bridge bit near to Wandsworth for me

donaghcorby19972w ago

Roman may have left them in big trouble but he was much more beloved and delivered some crazy nights. Not so much for Todd!

patrickwalton842w ago

No because Wembley is too far so we have to stay at Stamford bridge unfortunately it bit near to Wandsworth for me sorry about that you have to try to do that

badger.prodder2w ago

I agree. I've the same problem getting to Wembley. I'd be happier upsetting the RFU and residents of Twickenham

mjd.aerotec2w ago

Straight out of the Trump stable. A perfect example of someone who has little or no experience of a subject, assuming he has superior knowledge. This over estimation is a result of him not having enough knowledge to know he didn't,'have enough knowledge.

badger.prodder2w ago

He must have experience of the subject because capitalism can buy knowledge or pay for someone who has it. Unfortunately it's when you feel that your capabilities in one discipline can work in another the problem starts

jamesshearman232w ago

Boehly probably has a worse reputation than he deserves. Everyone knows his name but few speak about Eghbali for some reason. I will remember Boehly as clueless but ambitious, and that’s better than many owners.

badger.prodder2w ago

Sorry, I understand the sentiment but shouldn't it be ambitious but clueless. Offers a completely different viewpoint. I can still see his confused expression and the total disconnection with TT and the players after the Watford game in 2022. It definitely wasn't 'the way'

kyle.dimond2w ago

I wish Chelsea had let a film crew behind the scenes during the first couple years. It’d be like watching The Office or something. Chaos in the most entertaining way as a non-Chelsea fan

jordan.harris2w ago

Just a very strange time! Lots of baffling decisions and nowhere near enough progress

eoin2w ago

His legacy Will be the lesson, you cant Americanise the Premier League, at least you cant win It like that

dale.odonnell2w ago

Chelsea need a total clear out. The club is a circus.

badger.prodder2w ago

Surely the attempt to see Chelsea in the play offs, must rate highly. Actually sums the whole BlueCo era up. Had four goes and still couldn't get us in the Championship

dantowen819512w ago

An absolute chancer who only ever made good decisions by accident

freddie2w ago

My favourite thing ever is him saying ‘Yh we bought Cucurella because city wanted him’ - someone needs to make a doc about his time at the club, would be so jokes 🤣

josh.barker2w ago

Feel like owners should have to pass some sort of knowledge test before they’re allowed to buy a football club 😂

badger.prodder2w ago

I thought that was the fit and proper person judgement by the EPL, or is it the FA

harveyleonard992w ago

About as bad as it could be. Terrible business, terrible results, and terrible managerial decisions.

jamie.theodosi2w ago

An end to Chelsea’s corruption? I beg to differ.

george.patten2w ago

A weird transfer strategy that didn’t work but also kind of did? Probably better off without him though

jameslloyd14.jl2w ago

He turned Chelsea into a banter club and for that I will be forever grateful 🙏🏻

lrandall12102w ago

A failure ultimately, he wanted to be the saviour but was the complete opposite

gomatz772w ago

Hope with more clarity on the ownership front we are able to function better. Cause what we had before was hot garbage and a lot of confusion

chillout2w ago

One of the most chaotic, high spending and polarising ownership tenures in football history. Financial security but on field decline, ruthless ambition but fan / cultural disconnect. An interesting private equity experiment - if you aren’t a supporter!

seanfisher2w ago

I don’t know about financial security! They made a loss of £262.4 million in their last accounts 😬

shamanth.jayaram2w ago

It was hilarious when he made himself the sporting director, saw that Man City were going for Cucurella and made a move for him because 'if Pep thinks he's good, he must be' - and it worked, sort of!

seanfisher2w ago

Step 1. Copy Pep Step 2. Panic and sign the entire Brighton team Step 3. Repeat

seanfisher2w ago

He’ll be remembered as the chairman who drew up a 4-4-3 formation. Sums him up. Clueless from beginning to end.

caleb.sage2w ago

That might’ve been Eghbali tbf, I can’t remember. Whoever it was should’ve stopped having any input on football at that point 🤣

jonathan.gorrie2w ago

Not much of one, really. Get the sporting directors out next!

markmarston2w ago

Not great… sacking Tuchel was the start of a massive decline. Ballsing up the Enzo Maresca situation was the final straw… Liam Rosenior appointment demonstrated he just wasn’t cut out to lead a football club from a sporting perspective. No doubt an outstanding businessman tho

dakir.thanveer2w ago

10 year contracts for everyone to celebrate this! 😝 Boehly will be remembered for the banter era in his early days

gomatz772w ago

He has no legacy!! Thought this was an American sport and ran Chelsea like an NBA team who was tanking.

matthew.johns2w ago

Just another case of a businessman wanting to get involved in a sport he has very little prior knowledge of, always appeared to be a recipe for disaster and he won’t be remembered favourably…

charlesjones2w ago

Filed under the biggest joke owner in Prem history alongside Vincent Tan, Venkys and Mike Ashley

jamesshearman232w ago

That’s very harsh! He made some terrible decisions but at least he spent big. Can’t say he didn’t try to do well even if he got it wrong. The same can’t be said for Ashley etc

dakir.thanveer2w ago

I need Mike Ashley back in the Prem for the vibes

philchristie19552w ago

He wanted to be seen as the new innovative face of Chelsea but he had no idea about football. He saw a model in Brighton that he felt worked and tried to emulate it and basically failed miserably. I'm sure his intentions were good but that is simply not enough

jackdrury2w ago

Unfortunately became the face of every bad decision at the club, when in reality Eghbali has been pulling the strings all along

peter.lynch2w ago

Not good! 😂 a businessman who knows nothing about football and ensured Chelsea were not competitive for a longgg time, and it might just stay like that for a while until they can rebuild

caleb.sage2w ago

It really baffles me how business men like Boehly and Eghbali could not sort out the front-of-shirt sponsor stuff. That should literally be their bread and butter 🤦‍♂️
