What has been Manchester United's BIGGEST PROBLEM to start the 2026/27 season?

What is your INSTANT REACTION to seeing United's placing in the Premier League table after five games?

delyuzar1w ago

We failed to anticipate that will no longer have Casemeiro that for sure. Then the back has not been solid so far. And I hate to say if our players are lazy, the fact is very rate we see the movement without the ball they are all to predictable.

freddie1w ago

Defence is crap and thr midfield has no legs. When Baleba is fully fit it should sort out a little, but need some defensive reinforcements in January

amafuta1w ago

Carrick should have only picked one player to fill the Casemiro's role into last season's team. Rashford should have stayed on the bench & keep Cunha on the left. To my observation, this has unsettled the whole team & also adding that Mbeumo is not at his best, he should be benched for Lacey. No one except the captain maybe should be untouchable.

mgasparovsky1w ago

Rashford is very poor and yet he gets selected always. Old story, players who don't deserve to play gets selected in front of young promising talents

dale.odonnell1w ago

Lack of urgency from the players has been very worrying. šŸ™„

niko1w ago

Wrong recruitment in the central defence and strikers department of the team. Yoro and De Ligt, Zirkzee and Sesko are too frail and injury prone and never English Premier League materials. We need two strong centre back defenders and two strong clinical strikers to replace them, and one each immediately.

dancoombs1w ago

Yeah we spent £90m on Yoro and De Ligt and are back at square one. One of them has got to come good this season surely?

davenport8691w ago

Players need to earn their place. Get rid of the dead wood. Put the slackers back out on loan if you can't sell them. Kick there ass, this is Manchester United the greatest team in the land

geldroper1w ago

The biggest problem is Carrick. His coaching and training and team selections are horrible. He lies all the time of the involvment of the under 21 but keep playing losers as Martinez and all his sweathearts.

buckleclive861w ago

I think Carrick just hasn't got the guts for the big decisions.Done a good job but it's a totally different ball game now

barryroberts721w ago

We don't Run, Harass the Opposition, Press, Pick out the run behind, Don't run out to block a shot (Everton), also too much tippy tappy around the box, we had 29 shots at the goal y'day and 6 of them on target, we need some target practise, at times y'day we were playing walking football. Pathetic, Boring, best player midweek was on the bench.

seanfisher1w ago

Completely agree, our pressing is pathetic. I can’t remember us ever being good at it, and that has to come down to coaching

winva20021w ago

The issue is the fans and a coach who caves to their pressure. We have a solid team for mid‑block and counter‑attacks — that’s not shameful. But fans demand ā€œbeautiful football,ā€ and Carrick falls into the trap of overthinking. Even Ferguson relied on counters against stronger sides. With the players available, Carrick hurt himself by trying to impose a styl

seanfisher1w ago

Yeah our record when having over 50% of possession is AWFUL šŸ˜‚ maybe counter-attacking and being hard to beat is what Carrick needs to stick to

pranav.shahaney1w ago

This clearly looks like a team that’s not well coached and a manager who has not had a job this big before. The team gets run through in every game and only doesn’t lose more because of the quality of players. I don’t see Carrick being long in the job

par_carlstedt1w ago

To begin with, the midfield signings were poor. It’s also madness to buy someone who is still injured—and who performed poorly at Brighton last season, to boot. We should have gone for Hall-Lewis and a high-profile striker like Osimhen, too. It’s probably only a matter of time before the manager gets the sack if the results continue like this.

seanfisher1w ago

I’m fairly happy with the midfield rebuild tbh, I think that’s the least of our issues

pranav.shahaney1w ago

They weren’t really ā€œpoorā€. Tielemans has been a consistent performer in the league for both Leicester and Villa. He’s had top clubs covet him for a few years. Baleba is one of the best DMs in the PL. Santos may not be an edge-of-the-seat arrival but he’s effective and was also rated by Chelsea fans

seadvegar1w ago

deansexton461w ago

fitttnes and Carrick is working players he didn't want

thetruthpersonified1w ago

All signs point to the coaching! We were poor last season despite gaining points. If MC could not turn Boro round once it went sour (after season 1), what chance to turn United round? There is no body of work to remotely suggest MC can resolve this. Only upside - could we possibly get worse? That said, clearly yesterday showed players do not respect MC.

andremaleek7541w ago

my observation has been Michael's game management , its like he's getting too much pressure from the outside on whether to play who or not otherwise lately he's failing to read the game and give a probable substitution that will make greater impact. The players themselves are a the center of the blame in most cases

dancoombs1w ago

Yep- first sub was Zirkzee vs Fulham which itself said to me that he was out of ideas

epi2media1w ago

Sunday League defence, Recycled personnel...and just pure lack of effort...

dancoombs1w ago

Lack of effort stood out for Fulham. They seemed to only care in stoppage time

dale.odonnell1w ago

The sheer lack of urgency.

barryhhd2w ago

Playing Rashford

jonny2w ago

Hardly our biggest issue. He’s actually been quite good bar his finishing. Which doesn’t excuse how poorly we’re being set up

antonymmartin842w ago

All over the gaff. Carrick was a poor appointment for a club of their size. He failed at Boro ffs. Players don’t care either. Tactics poor, players literally walking around the pitch. BIG problems

seanfisher2w ago

We have to be the worst team in the Premier League at pressing. It’s seriously pathetic how reactive and slow we are to get out. When we do, it’s too late and it leaves gaps. Whether that’s a fitness thing, a physicality thing or poor coaching, i don’t know

dancoombs2w ago

It’s been the same for years, you cannot press a team with Rashford as part of your front three. It doesn’t work

kyle.dimond2w ago

I’d say the bigger problem has been the forwards not firing yet. They’re the one aspect you’d expect to deliver to some degree and they haven’t. Nightmares all over the pitch though

taylorjoe411w ago

Got to agree there buddy. We’re snatching at chances that come our way. 43 touches in Oppositions penalty area, 29 shots and only one deflected goal? We’re playing as if we are afraid.

jonathan.gorrie2w ago

The quality. The vibes. All of it!

jonny2w ago

Vibes are a big concern. Feel they probably carried much of last seasons success so no they’re on the floor what is there?

leeclarke05082w ago

Same defence. Needed adressing

chillout2w ago

To me it’s a few things - tactical transition issues, lack of physically and an unbalanced squad. Midfield is fragile, recruitment has been poor, and Carrick hasn’t shown much in the way of strategic game management. At times, the manager looks out of his depth.

jonny2w ago

I actually think midfield is one positive with Kobbie Mainoo. Not his fault he’s in a dysfunctional system.

dancoombs2w ago

Our squad is poorly constructed and our summer transfer business was by far not enough. Injury to Amad has caused issues and we are a striker light

thetruthpersonified1w ago

Should anyone recall my posts, I had concerns re Santos and Tielemans. Neither seemed to fit a strategy. While I would have preferred Alex Scott, I get the Baleba deal. A month too late and injured, but I understand it. I also get requiring depth, but players must be right style and type. Poor Santos has traded a London bench for a Manchester bench..

jonny2w ago

Fitness, although I am not sure if Carrick thinks that’s a problem. Which is an issue in itself.

seanfisher2w ago

That’s what’s concerned me, too. Carrick is increasingly pushing the problems to the side and refusing to admit they are problems. Where’s the accountability?

markmarston2w ago

Zero patterns of play… not sustained pressure on teams as a result. Just chaos all game. Basketball games. United are a glorified third round FA Cup team

epi2media1w ago

Absolutely no evidence of tactical input at all. Bruno just runs around, Zirkzee continues with his little playground flicks, and Martinez with his scissors leg routines resulting in own goals...And MU STILL losing to 10-men teams, Sunday league defence, shocking scatter gun pot shots at goal...phew...Every Team looks 1st class against MU..every Team.

seanfisher2w ago

Yeah there’s been a severe lack of structure from day one, very worrying
