What was the biggest shock from the first round of Roland Garros this year?

I'd say Medvedev. Fritz and Pegula notoriously a little bit suspect on clay but really fancied that Medvedev had turned a corner.

I'm not sure any of these were that surprising. All four haven't really proven their worth on the surface bar Medvedev in Rome. If I had to pick, I would say Pegula. I expected an early exit but not first round.

For me it has to be Pegula, she is usually so consistent but just could not find her game against Birrell!
