I am going to say Jessica Pegula, unfortunately. She is usually so reliable, but looked completely off her game in the first round against Kimberly Birrell.

I think of those four it was Gauff. Fritz was coming back from injury, Sinner dealt with serious physical issues and Pegula has never played well in Paris. Gauff was a serious contender and I was very surprised when she lost. I think of everyone, it has to be Aryna Sabalenka. An absolutely ridiculous collapse that was quite embarrassing.

I have to say Gauff. It felt like she finally had some momentum after Rome, and then exits RG in the third round as the defending champ.
