Talk Bolton Wanderers

Think there are enough poor teams in the championship for Bolton to stay up - Blackburn for one (Ignoring the point against Wolves)

lrandall121050d ago

Yeah let’s not get ahead of ourselves as Preston didn’t look great, but a brilliant start nonetheless

Great start. Gotta build a foundation off the back of this. It’s a long old season

Bolton beat West Ham 2-0 to win the first-ever FA Cup Final played at the original Wembley in 1923. In August 1992, Bolton’s Alan Thompson scored the Premier League’s first penalty - against Spurs. Bolton was the first club to use goal nets in a competitive match - in a 1891 FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest.

Spend some serious money. Without Cozier-Duberry and to a lesser extent Burstow they have some big holes to fill. They do have a good amount of physicality though, which will aid them. I’m a big fan of Forino at the back. Also think Schumacher is a great manager

Bolton was my first away game. I’d like to see them back in the Premier League one day, but that’s completely out of the equation for the coming years IMO.

I’ve just had a quick look at Bolton’s data and one thing that stood out to me was how young the squad is… average age of 25.3 last season… one of the youngest in L1. So I think it’s important to focus on bringing in a few older heads to get a better blend in the champ where you need that bit extra know how and nouse to get over the line in games.

Youri Djorkaeff 🔥

Ivan Campo. For the hair alone

The obvious answer is Jay-Jay 🔥but with the way football is at the moment, a proper bruiser of a number 9 like Big Kev Davies would be magnificent

I thought Anelka was exhilarating when he came back to the Prem. I had a soft spot for Stelios too, probably because I had one of those ProStar figures of him in a Greek shirt!

£1.5-£2m at a push. As a Celtic fan I fear that the weight of the shirt is too much for him. At Bolton he played with shackles off and looked very sharp. Really want him to do well but don’t think Celtic is the place for him whereas Bolton seems great for his development

dantowen81951117d ago

No more than £1.5m. Did ok in league one but still not quite proven enough for me

dantowen81951118d ago

Got to be the attack. Kenny and Cozier-Duberry were only on loan. The latter in particular will be so difficult to replace

callum_boyle117d ago

Survival I think. Bolton have been pretty tepid when in the Championship recently. Schumacher is a classy operator though and I think he’ll get them organised and keep them up

dantowen81951118d ago

Hard to say. Mid-table finish is obviously the first thing that comes to mind. But Wrexham and Birmingham showed - albeit with big investment - that the gap maybe isn’t as big as it seems
