Nobody could even ascertain what kind of a player Fernandes would end up being when he left Portugal. Apples to oranges comparison Having said that, Sa looks brilliant and further foritifies my belief that West Ham should walk the Championship next season

It’s a mixed bag, the Portuguese league, as we know from Pablo! But what I like is that Gustavo Sa appears to be a pretty physical player too; over 6ft and loves a tackle

The Portuguese league is very different to the Prem! Fernandes was able to adapt quickly so we’ll see if Sa can do the same. Positive from the club tho

It’s a funny one the Portuguese league. A bit like the Dutch league. You never really know what you’re getting Portugal’s rep has taken a beating of late, but Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Dias and Luis Diaz did alright!

Wow £17m shelled out in the champ… that alone is a really good sign and suggests you mean business. When Leicester came down our biggest deal was £10m for Harry Winks and we won the league with 97 points…. the Hammers are going straight back up!

Fernandes developed massively and quickly in England, so I think that’s why his Estoril stats look a bit underwhelming - but yeah Gustavo Sa’s numbers are very encouraging
