After producing two of the greatest upsets in UFC history, is it time to give Sean Strickland his flowers? 👑

SYes I believe Sean Strickland is one of the most remarkable fighters in the UFC, of all time. The man had a very difficult upbringing, he has a bunch of rough edges, but he is the real deal, a real fighter who is honest and fair and doesn't duck anyone to keep that belt. Imavov deserves the shot and Strickland knows it. My respects to Strickland.

Strickland as a fighter though is completely average. Still stuns me how he’s had so much success when he’s such an average fighter

There have been exactly 2 fighters who have held the undisputed UFC Middleweight Championship two separate times Sean Strickland & Israel Adesanya which is why Izzy is one of Sean's greatest wins.

Definitely. Look at who he has beaten. Love him or hate him. He has beaten Izzy Adesanya and Khamzat Chimaev, two of the toughest fighters the UFC has ever seen. Anyone who is a multiple champion usually is considered one of the greats.

Yep, he is hard to deny at this point

No Sean won his last fight to unseat the champ with jabs in retreat. Izzy upset was a great fight though. Lost to Stillnocks twice.

Feels harsh to downplay Strickland's win over Chimaev. Undefeated champion who nobody expected to lose. Does it matter how he got it done?
dr.cheyno4mo ago
Maybe top ten. Not top 5 imo
harvey.leonard4mo ago
Yeah I think this is accurate. Maybe worth revisiting if he can defend the title
pvadodaria4mo ago
In my opinion I would have him 3-5 in the top 5 middleweights of all time .

For me stricklands the 3rd greatest ddp at 4 silva at 1 and izzy at 2
victorociepka4mo ago
Hard to place Sean above DDP when he has lost to him twice, especially the second loss being so dominant
kyle.dimond4mo ago
I think Strickland could move above DDP but depends on if he's able to defend the belt. DDP defended it twice which I think gives him an edge.

If I'm being completely honest... that fight result was more Chamaev gassing out at the end of first round than anything Sean did. I don't think Strickland looked good at all against a 33% Chamaev. He was lucky to get that decision, could have went the other way really
dr.cheyno4mo ago
My thoughts exactly
kyle.dimond4mo ago
I kinda agree in that I don't know if I rate Strickland much higher than I did before this win even though it was a big upset
raykl.492.343.1x44mo ago
He's performed at his best against the best,so I believe he's definitely within the conversation, but now needs a few title defences to cement himself in that conversation of one of the greatest middleweights of all time.
jordan.ellis4mo ago
His resume is starting to look ther part. Still got some work to do, in my opinion.
kyle.dimond4mo ago
As a two-time champ, it's hard to deny that he's one of the greatest middleweights of all time but he's not like top 3
jamie.theodosi4mo ago
Absolutely not. Hasn’t even defended his title yet and I don’t see him beating Imavov again personally
harvey.leonard4mo ago
Something doesn't feel right about Strickland being among the greats, but it could be hard to deny soon. He needs title defenses first though.
