← Talk Brighton

Another fine season just finished for Brighton - but is this as good as it will get ? Is a top 6 finish at all possible - even allowing for the change and turmoil at some of the top clubs ? Hurdles next season must include: the impact of playing in Europe, bigger clubs targeting stars in the summer and their lack of financial clout relative to the big boys.

I think Europe every couple seasons is a dream really, though I think they should be chasing a cup more. Would surely be nice to keep at least one good player away from Chelsea too 🤣

Are the teams ahead of them impossible to catch? I don’t think so necessarily. Villa have an ageing spine, City in transition, who knows where Liverpool will be

It’s so sad when teams like Brighton do well and then just have all their best players pinched…

dantowen819514mo ago

The good thing is there’s a refreshing lack of speculation so far this summer - Van Hecke obv, and Baleba - but Baleba was in and out last season anyway

kyle.dimond4mo ago

Definitely think a top 6 finish is possible. Especially if they can hang on to some of the key players for a change 😂😂

Van Hecke will be off, Verbruggen isn't extending, Baleba's head is not in it. That's the problem with positioning yourself as a stepping stone. If you become stubborn players will stop joining

vatsal4mo ago

They're a stepping stone and that's okay. I couldn't believe Hurzeler getting booed on the last day of the season! They're overachieving massively already!

dantowen819514mo ago

Without being a stepping stone club, they probably don’t attract some of the talent they’ve had in the first place. It’s a proper swings and roundabouts situation

jonny4mo ago

I think they were rightly annoyed on that day, beaten heavily by a United side who were on the beach with nothing to play for

matthew.johns4mo ago

I think a top 6 finish is definitely possible for Brighton! Bournemouth have done it this season, so there’s no reason why they can’t in the future. I do think European football on a Thursday could be a bit of an issue in terms of their league form this year, but would still back them to be top half!

vatsal4mo ago

Top half has to be minimum expectation That 7-10 place is their sweet spot

jonny4mo ago

The model Brighton have, they might struggle one year but chances are they’ll strike gold with another handful of signings and rise back up again… There is a question of should the club be content with this? Or can they do more

kyle.dimond4mo ago

I think they could do more but you’d have to break the model to really try and force that and it’s worked so well for them

charlesjones4mo ago

Probably is as good as it gets for a team of this size. But that’s not something to complain about

josh.barker4mo ago

Exactly look at Palce (bad example for Brighton😂) they had a mid PL season but they’ve won two trophies in a year, very possible Brighton do the same

jonny4mo ago

Yeah I’m sure if you had told Brighton fans 10 years ago that this is where they peak, they’d have taken it in a heartbeat!
