What a great season for Bournemouth - record finish and Europe to look forward to next season. The owner came under fire for ruthlessly ditching Gary O’Neil - but how vindicated does he look now ?! Doe this prove that owners have to be decisive and unemotional to succeed ?

I probably would have been against O’Neil leaving if I was a Bournemouth but credit where it’s due, they got it right. Still a big risk that I don’t think is right for every club though

If Bournemouth continue to recruit as effectively as they have and get this appointment right, they could be a team that challenges for Europe every year

Went down a better route, but every appointment and signing is a risk. The owner needs to be decisive, always.

Like others said, it doesn't pay off always. West Ham moved on from Moyes in search of attractive football. Look where they are now

I don’t think Moyes and attractive football go! West Ham went for Moyes because they wanted to avoid relegation (twice) - to be fair, he achieved that.

Bill Foley has also pumped major investment into the training ground..so they’ll be very attractive to some of the best young talent. Look at Rayan coming in… Alex Scott, Kroupi Junior… the list goes on. The owners have set them up correctly for years to come 👏

It’s a balancing act, worked a treat for Bournemouth but plenty of clubs have axed a good manager to try to appoint the next big thing and it’s gone badly!

I think it’s yes and no - For Bournemouth it worked brilliantly. But there have been plenty of clubs who thought the grass was greener and lived to regret it

chillout4mo ago

Who you thinking of, George?

dakir.thanveer4mo ago

West Ham

It has aged brilliantly, they took a risk but backed what they believed in. There will now be a lot more faith in their decisions going forward

Something tells me Iraola jumped at the right time though. This is Bournemouth's ceiling and with Europe next season, I can see them back in the bottom half
