Doubtful that he'll get past Zverev if either of them gets there, but he's showing a lot more rally tolerance these days and more mental toughness than he had just a year ago. I'd give him a decent shot if his serve is on. Zverev is the only player left who can match him on serve and rally tolerance.

Upsets happen all the time, and I’m not trying to take anything away from Shelton, but I can’t see him going on a miracle run and winning. I’d expect Zverev to win it all in the end

Only watched the final set but what a match! Was surprised Alcaraz didn’t come through in the tiebreak but fair play to Shelton. He won’t get a better chance to win it all 🏆

Did not see that coming at all!! Fair play to Shelton. Probably took loads out of him, but imagine what winning a match like that does for someone psychologically. Got to be a great chance he goes all the way now

Depends if he can recover from that match as quickly as needed. Both mentally and Physically it'll have been a big drain on him. Would love to see him go on and win it tho

I think Zverev is the favourite, as he is the more complete player. He holds a 5-0 head to head win record against Shelton, is higher ranked and has a better tournament record. Zverev is also a more consistent player - Shelton makes too many unforced errors for me. His in-game strategy is aggressive and high risk.

I'm not even a passionate fan of the sport but watched that without blinking. Some of the points took my breath away. The kind of game which creates new fans of the sport. Ridiculous feats of athleticism. Surely Shelton's momentum takes him all the way now?

I'm not sure that will have taken an awful lot out of him. A bit gutted for Alcaraz but tbh this tournament just got very intriguing with a number of subplots now emerging. I think Tiafoe might do it.

We all underestimated Shelton. Pretty much everyone said Alcaraz would win in three. The American went in their with a backs against the wall mentality and it brought out the best of him… incredible game 🔥
