With Anthony Elanga looking like he is set for a spell on the sidelines, who is the prime candidate to step up and replace him?

Has to be Murphy. Don’t see why Baz wouldn’t get a shot either

Bazoumana Toure surely? Been wasted since he arrived

Surely this is Baz’s time to shine? Toure is probably the closest thing Newcastle have to Elanga - a pure winger with electric pace Could be the making of him

Either that or Pardo will have to accept a winger role for a bit. To be fair, he played there at Lille until the final few months of last season

Barnes and Pardo off the wings?
james.brooke2w ago
Pardo is literally a right winger, why the heck would you play him centrally with that much pace? He’ll come in, do well and Elanga won’t be able to get back in
jonathan.gorrie2w ago
Issue with Pardo is that he was reportedly told he'd play as a No.9, which I don't really get, but that's what is supposed to have helped convince him to join

Newcastle are fine with Barnes, MFP and Toure as their options

Feel like they’re going to need to push someone there who isn’t a traditional winger. Murphy looks past it and almost disinterested. When he’s fit I could see them trying Dedic with Livramento right back.

Pardo helps, barnes can play that side and Murphy would be a good option too

MFP didn’t look like a striker v Leeds. Might be a good replacement out wide
jordan.harris2w ago
Good with his hands as well, possible goalkeeper?
jonathan.gorrie2w ago
Obvious answer is Murphy but he is dreadful. Would like to see MFP there with Wissa through the middle in a 4-3-3. Osula when he's back is another option. Anyone else given up on Murphy?

I think fans are divided. Frustrated with his inconsistency and lack of end product, but many still see his value as a squad player who was never meant to play as a starting winger.
