On the back of @leeclarke0508 trip to see Westlife. What’s the best gig you have ever attended? I’ll kick it off with seeing David Byrne earlier this year - a real bucket list experience 🛋️

Ahhhh there have been some good ones. Green Day and The Smashing Pumpkins in Philadelphia 2023 was a worldie and John Mayer in Dublin 2024. I also went to The 1975’s famous 2022 gig at MSG that was recorded. A few crackers

Have been nagged to listen to The 1975s for years. Must say their Glasto set last year impressed me. Smashing Pumpkins a very good one 👏

One that stands out for me is seeing Macklemore at Deaf Institute in Manchester. It was just before he released Thrift Shop, so it was a tiny venue. I don’t think anyone there expected he’d explode just after, but he was brilliant. He did a signing afterwards and randomly all I had was a dollar in my pocket, so he signed that

Cracking venue that 👏
james.brooke1w ago
I asked him if it was illegal to sign it, he said probably and scribbled a signature. No idea what happened to it, but it was a good memento when he blew up a little while later. Good old days

Not my story, but my brother remarkably got tickets to a last minute secret last minute Prince concert in 2014. Love the idea of just getting last minute tickets in a small venue for a superstar.

Very cool that.
brogan1w ago
That’s unbelievable tbf. Where was it at?

I really enjoyed watching Coldplay live. Incredible production and it’s an experience like no other. As someone who’s listened to them for over 20 years, it was magical
dale.odonnell1w ago
Very jealous of you seeing David Byrne live. That must have been incredible. Oasis last summer at Croke Park tops the list for me, but I’ve also been blown away by Johnny Marr and the Arctic Monkeys live. It was my second time seeing Oasis but the comeback tour was so special.

brogan1w ago
He was incredible mate. Unfortunately set a ridiculously high standard for any future gigs 😭. What version of AM did you get to see live?
sherlock_b1w ago
Alfie Boe and Michael Ball ‘Sorry, not sorry’ 😂
brook0106d ago
Get out! We took you to see Michael Buble!!! 😂
dantowen819511w ago
If it counts, my Nan saw the Beatles at Middlesbrough Town Hall once 😂
dale.odonnell1w ago

brogan1w ago
Yeah fair enough that’s incredible 😭
jameslloyd14.jl1w ago
Best thing I ever did was bite the bullet on tickets to see Arctic Monkeys the day before their 2023 show at Old Trafford Sam Fender at St James and Springsteen at Anfield last year come close though
dale.odonnell1w ago
Artic Monkeys amazing live 👏
brogan1w ago
Couldn’t get over the Geordie love-in at Sam Fender tbh

Michael Jackson in his prime - I saw him twice at Wembley Stadium in 88 for the Bad Tour. The only gig I went to over the years that came anywhere near this was Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour (in Cardiff) 35 years later.

brogan1w ago
I mean you’ve top trumped everyone with MJ 🙄
tom.procter1w ago
Went to see Alter Bridge when they came to Manchester earlier this year. What a night ⚡️🎸

I’ll keep the westlife love going… first ever gig, didn’t disappoint! Legends 🎶
dale.odonnell1w ago
Westlife ultra!
jordan.harris1w ago
You lucky man!

Mines is probably my first ever gig which was stone roses in 2016. Was surreal seeing them. Close contenders include Kneecap in Brixton and Turnstile at Ally Pally
brogan1w ago
Stone Roses must’ve been absolutely incredible
dantowen819511w ago
As a north easterner, Maximo Park in Leeds were amazing. Also Madness in Newcastle, even if Suggs did stop the gig to tell us every time Man United conceded a goal 😂
brogan1w ago
Madness absolutely another on the bucket list
jordan.harris1w ago
Springsteen at Wembley, I don’t know how he does it at his age but an absolutely incredible spectacle
dantowen819511w ago
How long was he on for? Just the 3 hours? 👏
jonathan.gorrie1w ago
Stones at London Stadium or Oasis at Murrayfield. Not a Green Day fan but they did a surprise gig at a smaller tent at Reading one year I was there and it was brilliant
dantowen819511w ago
I did Oasis at Heaton Park! Not getting my hopes up about the 2027 tour though haja
