What's the longest time it should take to play 18 holes?

Rounds at the Irish Open have taken MORE THAN SIX HOURS this week!

I played an amateur tournament in France, it took so long 5 hours 30mins to be exact. I never played again. One guy left half way round saying it was lunch time.

My local course on Medal Sundays high handicappers were lucky if they got an early start time because the low handicappers finishing early would sign up themselves and other low handicappers for the next Medal Sunday taking all the early slots I only once got an early slot when I was with 2 others and got the first tee time

6 hours is crazy. 4hr30mins max, 4hrs is the sweet spot

4-hour max… 6 is absolutely crazy and very frustrating for players and fans!

Yeah makes it so much harder to watch when it drags like that. I’m terrible at golf and think even I could get round in just over half that time 😂

6hrs is crazy. Who wants to watch that let alone play it. They could play like Jack and it’d still feel like a snooze fest

I think 4 hr should be enough at the amateur level. Any longer and it removes the enjoyment and makes it harder for us mid (high) handicappers to get anything going when you have a wait between every shot

For 3-balls on Tour, no longer than 4hrs 30mins. However, there’s no reason why amateur golfers should take longer than 4 hours to play, even as a fourball. More ‘ready golf’ is required.

You clearly weren’t playing at Hainault public golf course(s) in the early 80s - you couldn’t book a tee time in those days, and would have to get there at 5am and queue for over two hours to even start. And then you would queue up at every hole on the way round. But they were great golfing days!!
