Has Arsenal surprised you this season - winning all 6 games across all competitions. If anything, the performances are even better compared to last season (when they bagged the Premier League and came so close in the Champions League). Could this side be Arsenal’s best ever team, and can Arteta be viewed in the same light as Wenger, Graham, Mee and Chapman ?

The world moved at a different pace when wenger was around which allowed people to build a mystique. Arteta can’t get there, even though objectively this Arsenal team is probably better than his invincibles or any of his best sides.
dancoombs2w ago
Arteta is incomparable to Wenger. Only way he betters him is if he wins a European trophy, and even then his style of football won’t command the same respect
dale.odonnell2w ago
Not surprised. Still boring to watch.
leeclarke05082w ago
Not really. Best team in the country by a mile. Won't even be a title race this season for me. Easy work for the Gunners.
chillout2w ago
I do think you are underestimating City - they have kept on a oaf with Arsenal so far across the board - maybe the Community Shield result has had more impact on people’s views than it should have.
kyle.dimond2w ago
Not surprised at all. They’re playing somewhat better football now but that wasn’t a high bar to clear. You can’t put them or Arteta on that kind of pedestal just yet. They’ve set themselves up to try and dominate for a few years so let’s see
jonathan.gorrie2w ago
They’re much more like the George Graham side. Great team, not sure we will remember them in generations to come though. Not that it should matter to Arsenal fans!
jordan.harris2w ago
I cannot see how this team can be put in the same category as the Invincibles
chillout2w ago
The Invincibles actually only won one piece of silverware that season - the Premied League. Chelsea saw Arsenal eliminated in the Champions League quarter finals.

Not surprised the football is better, having Saka, Odegaard and Havertz fully fit together on the pitch makes a world of difference. Still too early for Wenger/Chapman etc comparisons but I can see a world he does eclipse them yeah

He’s finally getting the credit he has deserved for years. Generational manager. Still work to do to be mentioned in the same breath as the greats, but it if he becomes the first manager in Arsenal’s history to win the champions league and also retain the Prem, you’ve got to put him right up there.
charlesjones2w ago
Not a shock at all considering the last few years. However I never would’ve expected this five years ago. As for comparing to the greats. I’d say Arteta is right up there now
camerondesc12w ago
No surprises. They were only ever going to get better with the signings they made. They are going to walk the league, and i expect they’ll be back in the UCL final.
james.brooke2w ago
I am a bit surprised actually, I thought we might see a drop off after finally having that release of winning the Prem. fair play to them for coming again even better, but the quality of the challengers is also not really there
chillout2w ago
I think that’s where I am. I know we tend to think of Second Season Syndrome in terms of teams and relegation, but I thought Arsenal and Arteta might suffer from this this season - impressive that neither has.
jamie.theodosi2w ago
Probably not surprised me, I think they’re the best coached team in the country. I do think Man City will keep up with them though purely just because of the quality they have on the pitch and their depth.
chillout2w ago
I think the Arsenal / City rivalry will be similar to the Arsenal / United rivalry under Wenger and Ferguson.
pranav.shahaney2w ago
Not really. It’s what I expected from them. Recruitment has been good in recent years, including this summer. They’re once again favourites for the league
jackdrury2w ago
I’ve not been surprised. They’re the best team in the country by a mile. Look more fluid in attack too which is only a positive
martin.crawford2w ago
Feel like most Arsenal fans want the UCL above anything this season - I can see City beating them to the league
gomatz772w ago
Arsenal being good has been no surprise, they are the champion and added quality to their squad as well. Don't know if teams will be able to keep up with their strength
dantowen819512w ago
I think Arsenal look a lot stronger - it’s like getting the title over the line has lifted a massive weight with Arteta releasing the handbrake To be honest, I thought Arsenal last year were one of the most uninspiring Prem champions I’ve seen. The performance vs Chelsea a few weeks back was better than anything I saw from them in 2025/26
kyle.archer2w ago
It is *way* too early to talk about comparing Arteta to Wenger et al (even Arsenal winning the Champions League this season would not see Arteta surpass Wenger). As for whether Arsenal have 'surprised', no - they have simply picked up from where they left off and are benefiting from having a fully-fit Odegaard firing on all cylinders.
chillout2w ago
Would retaining the Premier League and winning the Champions League this season change your view ?
matthew.johns2w ago
They haven’t surprised me, they have been very impressive but that is now the standard Arteta has set. I think for Arteta to be considered alongside the likes of Wenger he would need to win multiple Premier League titles, which is certainly not a guarantee with Man City around!
brogan2w ago
Can’t deny they’re by far the best team in the league, but have to question just how good the teams they’re facing are compared to Wenger’s prime and so on…
chillout2w ago
Wenger was mostly up against United - and Arteta has got a top City side. Is it that different ?
freddie2w ago
I’m surprised how they’ve found a different way to play. They still aren’t the most exciting but it’s much better than last season. It’s deffo not the best side ever, but as a team it’s gotta be up there as they all know their roles perfectly!
josh.barker2w ago
Not unless they win multiple PL titles AND end up with the Champions League
george.patten2w ago
Best ever team? No, they’d need to win a lot more (or the Champions League) for that. But he’s definitely among Arsenal’s best managers. To survive as long as he has in the social media era when so many wanted him out is a remarkable achievement
jonny2w ago
Not surprising at all, however I would suggest the league is at an all time low in terms of top level teams. Outside of Arsenal, everyone else is decent or worse. Arsenal are exceptional though!
ahambly232w ago
Definitely needs a few more medals before we start comparing him to Arsenal's greatest managers.
chillout2w ago
Arteta is only one top trophy off Mee and Chapman.
peter.lynch2w ago
Not a surprise at all… they have two top class players in EVERY position! But the invincibles would like a word, absolutely not at that level yet
harveyleonard992w ago
Not at all. The Arsenal team and setup is better than they showed last season. Finally getting over the line was only ever going to improve them because now they’ve not got that mental barrier. They will cruise the title this season.
chillout2w ago
Arteta is probably just off Mount Rushmore at present, maybe getting there at Mee’s expense. But age and data are on his side - at 44 he is significantly younger than the other great Arsenal managers in their prime, and he has raced to 200 wins ahead of all other Arsenal managers in history.
antonymmartin842w ago
Haven’t surprised me at all. They are the best team in the league by a country mile. Everyone knows their job inside out. Their attack can be a bit blunt at times but they always find a way. They will get 92 plus points this season and I’ll be shocked if they don’t win the league by 8-10 points
chillout2w ago
How do you rate Arteta in terms of the Premier League and previous Arsenal managers ?
