Does Max Verstappen need to recognise when he's beaten?

No if that happens then he might as well retire

I quite like Max’s mentality tbh… if every inferior car let a superior car pass then what’s the point really? They’d spend the whole race just getting into pace order

The problem is that Red Bull have encouraged Max Verstappen's 'you're always in the right' approach for years, so he thinks he can just put his car in a place where it risks a crash unless the other driver gives up. As a result, his wheel-to-wheel race craft is often lacking when he actually has to genuinely fight a rival who does not have an inferior car.

Max definitely has a never surrender mentality, which is why he's so successful. But he could be a little more tactful from time to time to avoid harming himself or other drivers, even if no proper accident has come of it in some time.
