What will signing Rodri from Manchester City mean for Real Madrid and manager Jose Mourinho? How important is it for Real to sign a player well versed in controlling the tempo of games ?

City losing a diamond. This could end in tears.

It’s as good a signing as you can possibly make for Real. Suppose there might be a question of whether the World Cup form continues and if injuries will come back around but it’s so worth that risk. Cheat code player

Madrid NEED a leader and balance in their team. They have all the big names, but missing balance and someone to guide them. Rodri WOULD be that player. He would be a transformational signing, imo!

I have no sense at all of what this deal might cost

Rodri is Madrid’s best holding midfielder since the Casemiro, Kroos and Modric era. Will get the best out if Bellingham. Possibly one of the best signings of the summer

Will suit him going to Spain, was starting to think his legs were going a little, and not convinced the World Cup massively proves otherwise. Slower tempo will be the best thing for him. Sadly for Rodri he’ll have Konate clowning around behind him though, so he’ll have to work twice as hard to prevent anything slipping through!

If Tonali is worth £100m, and Rodri is 10x better than Tonali, does that value him at £1b? 🧐

Just spare a thought for Maresca at City finally getting the job and seeing a player online Rodri say ‘yeahhhh… I’m off’ 😭😭😭

Perfect Mourinho player. Real Madrid will be a force this season if they can keep him fit

Turns Madrid immediately into champions league favourites.

Kroos replacement at last, would give the team much needed balance

Rodri would transform Madrid. His golden ball at the World Cup only adds to the need for them to sign him. Perhaps they should sell Tchouameni to fund it 👀

I think Madrid are under extra pressure to sign Rodri after Spain’s WC win. I just hope it means United sign Tchouameni. 👀

Absolutely pivotal signing this. Too many of their matches last season were like basketball games, nothing in the middle to offer any control Rodri is the absolute master of dictating the play at the minute as he just showed with Spain - this would be the cog Mourinho needs to topple Barcelona again after all these years 🇪🇸🔥

It means the closest a team could be to guaranteed success. You have a fit Rodri in midfield and you win. Simple as that. Considerinng many are doubting Mourinho, this would be a golden signing for him

Rodri is great but not exactly what they need. He’s going to solve half the problem - controlling the midfield. What they still need is a creative force in the midfield that can link to the attack and put balls forward for their pacy wingers. And I’m not sure how much money they will have left after Rodri to get that profile of player

josh.barker2mo ago

He’s what they need to start dominating again. On the other hand, massive, massive blow for City if it happens

kyle.archer2mo ago

Man City can use Rodri somehow winning the World Cup’s best player award to drive up the asking price for a player Real Madrid could cope without

He would be the perfect signing for them. Rodri / Tchouameni in behind Bellingham would be the most well-balanced midfield trio in the world imo. He may be the missing link to help Mbappe get his first CL at Madrid

george.patten2mo ago

Would be a huge signing. Still very unsure if Mourinho has it in him, but if he assembles the best team in the world I’m sure he’ll be just fine

He could transform them. They’ve missed a calm head in midfield, and a player like him could free up Bellingham too, not even having to worry about defensive work
