PSG begin their Champions League campaign tonight against Slovan Bratislava, but what could stop them from winning the tournament three times in a row and why? šŸ¤”

kyle.dimond3w ago

I think just the nature of the champions league is the thing that’ll stop them. Only takes one mistake or decision going against them. Seems like a few top sides have upped their game and not sure you could say the same for PSG thus far

antonymmartin843w ago

I think Barca will win the CL this year. I also think Bayern and Arsenal are capable of stopping PSG. Can’t see them winning it 3 times in a row

jackdrury3w ago

You’d imagine Arsenal will have learnt a lot from that experience in the final last season. Not too dissimilar to City against Chelsea before going on to win it against Inter

james.brooke3w ago

I think theyll have a massive target on their backs and possibly won’t be quite as hungry after winning it twice. That’s all the edge Real/Bayern or even Barca or Arsenal will need to beat them I think.

jonny3w ago

They seem to have taken a step backwards this season, the era of PSG is dying and Madrid are going to run through anyone this season with that attack! The simple answer is hunger and probably exhaustion

vatsal3w ago

For starters, check out Ligue 1 because they can't seem to buy a win domestically! I think they've taken their load management shenanigans to the extreme, where their players simply look unfit now. You can't just turn a switch for UCL. Tactically, sit deep and counter. Only way I see to stop them.

kierandoody3w ago

What could have stopped them is Arsenal getting a real world class striker. Real Madrid have the best chance I think.

jordan.harris3w ago

Complacency maybe? It’s quite difficult to stay at the top - I’ve heard anyway

tom.procter3w ago

Lots of pressure going in pursuit of such a special achievement might just take its toll at some point. Can see teams raising their games against PSG to stop them

dale.odonnell3w ago

Not sure what team I fancy - other than PSG to win it outright this season. I don’t think Arsenal have improved enough… maybe Real Madrid will come alive in the latter stages and prove to be PSG’s biggest challenge.

leeclarke05083w ago

I think the fact a very bland and one dimensional Arsenal team took them all the way to penalties and probably should have beat them gives hope to so many teams. Take nothing away from the back to back winners but I think the other contenders have improved this year.

jackgallagher3w ago

Madrid will stop them, particularly Mbappe. He's too good not to win a CL in his career, and this feels like the year he'll do it

matthew.johns3w ago

There’s now a huge expectation on PSG, even bigger than before, and the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona will be desperate to stop them achieving the three-peat!

seanfisher3w ago

They’ve started the season terribly, right? Motivation might not be the same this season, that’d be my biggest concern

peter.lynch3w ago

I hope Liverpool… I think Real Madrid. PSG have had their Euro fun, someone else’s turn now

dakir.thanveer3w ago

Fear it's going to be Arsenal. If not Liverpool, I'd rather Bayern or Barcelona do it

will.butcher3w ago

Feel like, with all the new signings, they’re going to need time to gel - while other clubs are closing the gap (Madrid, Barca, Arsenal)

martin.crawford3w ago

Jury’s out on how they replace Barcola. Akliouche has struggled so far. Godts a much more similar player, but unsure if he’s ready

kyle.archer3w ago

It only takes one bad night for the dream of a three-peat to come to a sudden end for PSG. But there are bigger questions about who could force PSG into a bad night than the chances of it happening.

charlesjones3w ago

All just depends who turns up on any given day. Don’t forget for their first CL they easily could’ve been put out by Liverpool

chillout3w ago

Three Champions Leagues in a row ! Only Real Madrid has achieved that before (although Ajax, Bayern and Real got three in a row winning the European Cup). Betting markets are split equally three-ways - Arsenal, Barcelona and PSG. I wouldn’t rule out City either.

george.patten3w ago

Just think they will have more ā€˜mature’ challengers this time around. Could see Arsenal, Barca, and Bayern all causing them real issues

kilham.max3w ago

I agree with this - think Arsenal and Barcelona are the main threats. Another year of experience should help both teams challenge.

callum_boyle3w ago

I think the fluidity of the attack. It’s very new-look. Torres, Godts and Akliouche are not all necessarily starters but are expected to have the same effect as Kvara and Dembele when they aren’t on that level. Teams do also know how to face them now as it’s been two years. Other teams are stronger and PSG will need more than just flashes
