Preston fans will have been disappointed at the way the season finished - in January they were just three points off an automatic promotion slot. Are the club sleeping walking into danger ?

May be a controversial take, but I think Preston will be much closer to relegation than promotion next season. I just don’t think Paul Heckingbottom is the manager to take them up or into the play offs. Wouldn’t be a coach that would strike much enthusiasm into me as a Preston fan.

Yeah, a real risk of the championship getting harder and them getting left behind

A big issue for next season is that some of their star players were loanees. Devine, Dobbin and Jebbison will go, and they really missed Harrison Armstrong when Everton recalled him in January

They came 14th with those players. Unless they find upgrades - not easy - it’s hard to see how next season will be an improvement

I think under Heckingbottom they’ll be just fine, but would like to see them push the boat out this summer with the recruitment!

Mid-table again next season. No danger of going down with Heckinbottom. The silence on the would-be takeover process is a much bigger issue…. It’s been silent for ages now

Solid manager. Just needs some more backing in the market. Doesn’t have to be millions but use the links he has, pluck some from the lower league and compliment them with some PL2 loans from clubs like Liverpool. Looking upwards rather than behind I’d say

What would they be sleepwalking into? Preston are historically a mid table Championship club? They made a fast start and profited off others racing out the blocks late on before running out of steam. Finished 14th where everyone expected them to be. They don’t have the budget to compete at the top also won’t go down

Relegation?

When they lost Harrison Armstrong they completely collapsed. That’s all it takes at Preston and clubs similar, their best player leaves and the season is virtually over. It’s a shame tbf, the fans must be so bored

They’re a bog standard championship club that can hope for top 8 at best. Hecky will make them competitive but that’s about it. With the league getting better every year, maybe they’ll drop, but not just yet imo

Tough for them to compete with the wealth of the top clubs in the Championship now. I think next season could be a struggle, especially with Cardiff coming up, who you’d expect to compete pretty well

Think they’re still better than quite a few. Charlton, Blackburn, Stoke, Watford, QPR at the very least. Wherever Bristol City are, Preston won’t be far behind them
