← Manchester United vs Manchester City LIVE fallout to offside controversy

What should be the outcome of the investigation into the incident after this admission of error?

Pro Ref (formerly PGMO) have admitted Erling Haaland's goal should NOT have stood

jd48cam2w ago

Goal disallowed and points shared. Don't matter how bad we played,

febced12w ago

The VAR officials should officiate as on-field referees until the end of the season, and then their contracts must be terminated.

bs5415832w ago

This should have been looked at as two separate incidents, was Haaland offside, no he wasn't. Then was Enzo offside, yes he was, and was he interfering with play ? Yes he was, as he dragged Martinez across to mark him, leaving Haaland unmarked. Whether he touched the ball or not is irrelevant.

stephenjholmes12w ago

That is the sentence "interfering with play". We who don't get paid a penny for our opinions can see it blatantly, and yet HIGHLY paid "Pro Ref" officials can't see it!

dancoombs2w ago

💯

bs5415832w ago

Who was supposed to be marking Haaland ? Martinez was dragged across by Enzo, who was offside, leaving Haaland unmarked at the far post. Why did we have no defender at the back post ? You don't give strikers of Haaland's quality that much space. Everyone is focused on the VAR decision, but United played for 70 minutes against ten men.

geldroper2w ago

Dorgu was the main evil doer in the whole game. Do not understand why Carrick didn't use Amass. no way he could have been worse

geldroper2w ago

And he gets 1 lousy game for this clear planned "mistake". He should be out for at leastv 3 games. But that willnot happen because Webb and buddies always decide who is winning with there VAR tool. As long as Var is there teams should just not play

granitegraham2w ago

City should be stripped ot the 3 points, and both sides being awarded 1 point each for what would have been a draw

mahomediyoop2w ago

I agree, that's fair, 1 point each for both sides.

mahomediyoop2w ago

Like it or not theirs too many mistakes made by VAR. Maybe it's not really mistakes, it could be something else!

geldroper2w ago

Not maybe. English Var is deciding games already for years

dancoombs2w ago

Refs were useless before. Give them new technology they are still useless because they cannot apply the rules

fullershit2w ago

Let's not forget Oliver has history with his anti United biases. He sent Dalot off for dissent twice and getting yellows both times within the space of a few seconds back in 2023 against Liverpool. He has never sent any other player off for those reasons ever since

geldroper2w ago

There are to many referees who are anti Man U . Wait whenthey get tired af Arsenal and start pulling this crap to them

apgcfrg2w ago

I think all the people calling for the referee and linesman to be punished are idiots. Those two got the call right! Best solution: scrap offside.

stephenjholmes12w ago

Don't scrap offside, scrap VAR!

seanfisher2w ago

Yeah I do somewhat agree.. the linesman did nothing wrong 😂 it’s the VAR officials who need looking at!

dancoombs2w ago

There need to be resignations over this

sunalike902w ago

This is bulshit. I keep saying that that haaland goal 🥅 is an error in the first place. That is a huge humiliation to the theatre 🎭 of Dreamz.

barryroberts723w ago

All the people involved that's the referee and his linesman and VAR should all be demoted for a few games, even though he called offside on ugly boy he should have been told by VAR to go and look at the screen, then he might have kept his decision but on Fernandez interfering with play from an offside position.

stephenjholmes12w ago

It wasn't the referee who is at fault. He isn't responsible for the blatant bias of the people within the VAR room. They are the people who are meant to keep the errors out of the game. The ref was relying on them doing what they are meant to do.

edughomnengim23w ago

No need for all this apology, what has happened has happened

edughomnengim23w ago

Let that referee be banned for atlist 5 march

stephenjholmes12w ago

The ref got the right decision. The VAR got it wrong. Don't shoot the messenger!

dickyfitz912w ago

and the people involved with VAR should never be at a match again

seanfisher3w ago

The fact that we all knew an “apology” was coming minutes after the decision was made says it all… ridiculous

amirmir3w ago

The on field linesman got it correct in a split second. VAR after 30 replays and 3 minutes got it wrong. Sums up officating in football.

pranav.shahaney3w ago

Seriously what is the point of this apology? Everyone could see it was offside, but VAR wasted everyone’s time only to overrule a decision without the understanding of anyone? Where’s the accountability?

stephenjholmes12w ago

It actually seemed to be a positive start to the season by the refs. It seemed the ref was going to be allowed to do his job without endless scrutiny. Then the first time I see a long VAR check, they make the wrong decision. It is made worse by the fact it's the most high profile game so far. In any other world a blunder of such gravity would see heads roll

jonny3w ago

It’s lunacy isn’t it. Take up 5 minutes to review and somehow miss what everyone across the country was shouting at their TV’s! They’re either completely incompetent or corrupt. Maybe both

dancoombs3w ago

Scrap VAR
