What does Alexander Zverev have to do to change his results against Jannik Sinner?

mrwilliams4051146d ago

He has to believe in his skills and fight harder for every point no matter what the score is. Forget the past and start with a fresh mind set of belief in himself.

neha.mnnit01151d ago

He has to continue having hope cause he can beat Jannik Sinner...the last match he played against Alcaraz in AO semifinal, he nearly beat him.....so I think he can do that again against Jannik and that was a really really interesting match ...

gabi.agro2151d ago

He already decided that he will loose before the match and dud nir even try . There was no fight for more points or winning some more games, just clear resignation. He is no fun to watch due to lack of spirit. I feel sorry for him.

Is Marta Kostyuk a dark horse to win the French Open?

She's just won the Madrid Open!

peter.lynch155d ago

Absolutely! Has to be after what she's done on clay in 2026

callumdaviestennis155d ago

She can have a good run, but has yet to play anyone who is top top level on clay this season.

doknyx155d ago

Stand back: I predict Marta will win Roland Garros French Open!

Who will win the men's Madrid Open final?

doknyx155d ago

Zverev's time has come.

george.patten156d ago

Sinner - Although on this surface Zverev might have half a chance

Will Jannik Sinner go unbeaten on clay this year?

He's 10-0 and into the Madrid Open final...

callumdaviestennis155d ago

I don't see anyone who even comes close or who can challeng ehim

peter.lynch156d ago

Alcaraz will return with a bang 👀

george.patten157d ago

No - I’ve got a weird feeling he will slip up in Rome. Wouldn’t be too surprised if he does though

Who do you think will win the women's Madrid Open final? 🏆

callumdaviestennis157d ago

Andreeva, but agree with George. Has to keep her head

george.patten157d ago

Andreeva - If she can keep her composure

Do you think Mirra Andreeva is more likely to win the French Open than Iga Swiatek?

Mirra Andreeva is into the Madrid Open final...

vvenkateshwararao85150d ago

I feel like Mirra Andreeva lacks the killer instinct to win very important matches. Unless she develops it, she will not become a champion. May be upto semifinals good for 2026 and 2027.

vanhunks69152d ago

Iga has history of the tournament. She is more likely to go deeper than Andreeva in my opinion.

Which ATP youngster will win a Masters 1000 title first?

Joao Fonseca, Rafael Jodar, Arthur Fils, or Alexander Blockx...

quanp0394d ago

Fils

camerondesc1158d ago

Jodar for me, he's the real deal

matthew.johns158d ago

I would go with Arthur Fils, especially as he is good on both clay and hard courts!

Can Rafael Jodar fill the void left by Carlos Alcaraz?

He's certainly stepped up in his absence so far...

salvi767676126d ago

I remember saying jodar will win the french open

fabiorod001157d ago

Jodar will now start experiencing the exact same thing Fonseca did last year... outilier, unknown, shinning.. until players starts to crack his code and all kinds os pressure hits him. The4e will be ups and downs. Tough life

johnverrall11158d ago

Not yet and given the sample size, I think it’s still a stretch to say that he will ever get to that level

Sabalenka is OUT in Madrid! How would you rate the Belarusian's performance out of 10? 🤔

kilham.max159d ago

Baptiste was unbelievable. Not sure we can criticise Sabalenka too much. 7.5/10

george.patten159d ago

7 - Not a bad performance by any means, just not enough to beat Baptiste playing the match of her life!

peter.lynch159d ago

7/10... Baptiste was outrageous!!

Is Casper Ruud the player most likely to stop Jannik Sinner in Madrid?

The defending champion has won his last nine matches at the Madrid Open...

matthew.johns158d ago

I could definitely see him in the final, but don't count out Fils!

gpnym24158d ago

No

peter.lynch159d ago

It's looking that way right now, but still have to favor Jannik!

Did you think Jannik Sinner looked below his best during his win over Cameron Norrie?

Jannik Sinner defeated Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-5, in Madrid.

matthew.johns160d ago

Definitely not his best, but still a very high level and more than enough to beat Norrie!

kilham.max160d ago

Absolutely! It is rare to see him lose concentration like he did against Norrie

george.patten160d ago

It wasn’t his best performance, but with Alcaraz out - Does he need to play his best?

🙂Add a comment…Open Discussion

Which of these players have concerned you the most in Madrid?

Coco Gauff, Alex de Minaur, Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton all suffered early exits in Spain 😬

mrwilliams4051156d ago

I think Arthur Fils will win a masters 1000 tournament soon. He is doing all the right things to put himself in contention for a masters 1000 trophy, possibly a grand slam winner. He has all the right tools and knows how to use them. If he stays healthy there's no telling what he could do.

peter.lynch160d ago

I think Gauff... could be a damaging one for her confidence at an important part of the season

matthew.johns160d ago

I would say Swiatek, if she doesn't do well in Rome then it is clear there are real issues!

Will Rafa Jodar win more Grand Slam titles than Joao Fonseca in his career?

fabiorod001157d ago

Jodar was the BEST thing that could have happened to João in terms of his career.... PEACE, FINALLY!!!! Jodar will now be the "new Nadal", the "new Big Three", the "new #1".... all the pressure will be on him and João will now have the "life of Fils, Mensik and Tien". HALLELUJAH!!

♥ 1

pzfswb58j9160d ago

It’s very early in both players’ careers but I do believe that Joao has the better game. That could change even in the next couple of weeks, especially on clay, which can be determined in a matter of time.

pzfswb58j9160d ago

No. Joao Fonseca will not lose often against his generation and will climb in the rankings also playing top 10-20 players. Love this kid!

Are you worried about Iga Swiatek ahead of the French Open?

She retired from her third-round match in Madrid...

vanhunks69153d ago

No.

callumdaviestennis161d ago

Illness can happen to anyone, but Rome is her last chance to show anything on clay before RG. Needs to show up

liam.mcmillen163d ago

Hard to judge due to the retirement, but it's surprising how beatable she looks on clay now

The Philippine fans have overhyped her prowess and put too much pressure on her ! Let progress at her own pace and don’t put unreasonable pressure her expecting her to win every match ! All the top ten women players did not reach their heights as fast as Eala ! Given more matches at the top level, she will improve and learn from her mistakes!

equatedguy163d ago

I agree the pressure maybe too much. NO, Eala has not reached heights as fast as ALL the top ten women players. In six years on tour Eala is ranked #44....Andreeva ranked #8, Rybakina ranked #14, Svitolina ranked #14, Gauff ranked #7. How can you make that comment and Eala isn't even CLOSE to being ranked in the Top Ten???

How far does Ben Shelton make it at Roland Garros?

liam.mcmillen163d ago

He's got the tools for a deep run, but he's so inconsistent on the clay

callumdaviestennis163d ago

I think Rome is so important for him. Needs a good run, could definitely make second week at RG though

george.patten163d ago

Third round? Would need a nice draw to make a deep run

Will Alex Eala start to lose fans if she doesn't win a title soon?

royangana7466d ago

Maybe some in the non-filipino fans. But her in the Philippines with 110 million people the answer is NO! SHE HAD ALREADY ACHIEVED WHAT NO OTHER FILIPINO HAD DONE. That cannot be erased!

escandor.9158d ago

The problem with the fans of Alex is most of them are bandwagon followers, many of these so called fans didn't even know the game of tennis before they started watching Alex, so many know it all, predictions etc, just let Alex play, those saying she will be in the top 5 someday , just goes to show you they really don't know anything about tennis.

♥ 1

gabrielvelez393161d ago

I believed Alex can make it to the top if she constantly practice everyday of her time to observe what are her weaknesses before & ready to correct now.

Are you more or less confident that Iga Swiatek can win the Madrid Open now?

She is a former champion...

liam.mcmillen163d ago

It's way too early for her I think. I do think Roig will be good for her in the long run though

chand44163d ago

I think Rennae Stubbs analysis of Iga’s game was on point. She is not hitting deep enough and that will hurt her especially with Sabalenka and Rybakina. Hope she proves me wrong.

callumdaviestennis164d ago

I think it'll take something special to stop Sabalenka AND Rybakina, although it'd be good to see Swiatek back to her best and see how she gets on against them two

Will Alex Eala's serve stop her from winning a Grand Slam?

She only won 37% of her second serve points in her Madrid opener...

royangana7465d ago

Her powerful returns more than compensate her less powerful serves. And she's young and still developing her serves.

callumdaviestennis164d ago

She can't win one with her current serve. If she finds a big upgrade, definitely though. She has that Gauff fighting spirit

♥ 1

teodz1984164d ago

Much easier to win matches when you can blow out your opponent. Takes less energy than 17 shot rallies

How would you rate Alex Eala's first-round win /10?

She beat a former semi-finalist in straight sets!

peter.lynch166d ago

8/10, gotta praise a win like that no matter what!

george.patten166d ago

6/10 - Great job picking up the win, but Pavlyuchenkoca was nowhere near her best

Will Venus Williams ever win another singles match?

paula.richards2845d ago

God I hope not!!! She needs to dethrone the god of tennis who continues to embarrass her. Venus, if you can receive this telepathic message: PLEASE RETIRE...NOW!!

ace160d ago

maybe in one of the early rounds

eugemanni164d ago

This is so absurd! It shows the depth to which Venus has sunk to. Imagine asking if she would win another match... as though winning A match is some sort of accomplishment. Maybe she is trying to accomplish the record for consecutive losses; if so, she is doing a great job.

Will you still be watching the Madrid Open?

pzfswb58j9155d ago

Yes. Djokovic has never been a favorite of mine but I would love to see Jannik win it all!!

Even more so…hate watching Alcaraz play. His facial expressions are freaky. I turn to another match if Alcaraz or Shelton are playing.
